Hull spent about 27m last season, you just know this is going to get spun at some point saying this is why we don't go round spashing the cash, we don't want to end up like Hull.....

It's not spin to point out that many of the problems that arise at clubs result from owners putting clubs on an unsustainable cost base and are then unable to continue - that is pointed out in the explanation for the financial sustainability tests required in the forthcoming Football Governance legislation

In our case though, it wouldn’t even be unsustainable, it would be spending the funds we’ve generated from selling our players.

So was Hull. They sold players for around £40m last summer but this transfer embargo is over failed payment of Louie Barry's loan fee. They were set to sign him this week. Not anyone.

Quite a simplistic look, but if we take transfer money in/out since the 21/22 season

Hull In: £66.25m
Out: £55.38m

Net: +£10.88m

Rovers In: £57.99m
Out: £12.40m

Net: +45.59m

Percentage spend of monies received
Hull: 83%
Rovers: 21%

So, I wouldn't say the two clubs situations are in any way similar.  I don't think any Rovers fan in their right mind would expect the owners to re-invest 83% of incoming transfer fees, but there's a huge disparity between the two.

Furthermore, according to figures provided by Kieran Maguire for the 23/24 season, Hull were losing £507k per week vs Rovers £375k per week.  A difference of approx £6.75m per year.

Oh, and, those figures don't take into account the cost of loans.  Hull have loaned players such as;

-Louie Barry
- Fabio Carvalho
- Ryan Giles
- Zaroury (Burnley)
- Liam Delap
- Joe Gelhardt

We've loaned;

- Dion Sanderson
- Cauley Woodrow
- Amario
- Ben Chrisene
- Koumetio
- Ayari

I am pretty sure it is due to posts like this, laying it bare, what is going on, that there seems to be a veil pulled over the price paid for the 2 signings, we have made so far this window.

One is free, I think and they are trying to say the other is up to £2m but that's not stating the initial outlay, so they are being cute about this, in my opinion.

Whilst Rovers and Swansea have lost our main derby matches there are some new and intriguing ones. Portsmouth v Southampton, Norwich v Ipswich, Birmingham v West Brom, Coventv Leicester, Sheffield United v Sheffield Wednesday and Rovers v Nobbers.

That should keep Sky happy.

Yes I am fully aware of that, yet I am also aware that Rovers have finished 3 times out 4 higher than Hull since 21/22 season.

Yes granted Hull have reinvested alot of transfer income which I wish Rovers had spend some money of that but we have made some smart signings but we need to used the loan market better than we did last season.

Hull have failed to pay a fee which we never have. hence why they have got an embargo in place.

The most mental part of that is that if it is for the Louie Barry loan, he was only there for 4 months!

So a loan fee for a promising youngster who has not yet performed above League 1 level is £250K a month!

probably why clubs look at him and didn't want to sign him.

In other news, Sheffield Wednesday chaos just look like getting worse and worse day by day.  This is doomsday for Sheffield Wednesday More Sheffield Wednesday players considering notice hand-in as crisis deepens

Also Leicester are yet to appoint a new head coach. Could be waiting for Rohl.

Sheff Wednesday situation should become clearer by middle of the month. The owner it seems has fifteen days to pay outstanding wages to players who have informed the club in writing they intend to pursue breach of contract claims. If no payment in full for outstanding monies is made. Player can leave as a free agent.

On the pitch, with a bus.

I have only got a Polo, but it would keep out more goals than Pears

Where is a good place to park-up at the Hawthorns ?

Street parking near the Vine pub, get yourself a curry and a pint then walk down 👍

Birmingham signing ex celtic forward kyogo while we are searching around bottom of the barrel players.  Birmingham have rich owners but so do we yet their owners are ambitious.

Birmingham's owners only previous experience of this division was 2 years ago when their dreadful decision making resulted in them being relegated.

I remember when people on here thought Fulham would do well under Magath at this level and it was a disaster spell for them.

Not convinced by their signings so far. Big test for their head coach Chris Davies
