sharpysharps86 Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Hedges was pretty awful in that. RW needs to be one of the priority positions to bring in during the remainder of the window. 5 Quote

That's when it clicked for me - I thought he was just quite poor, but he's actually a RB being played on the RW, hence why he looks like a fish out of water at times. I’ve been impressed by him whilst he’s not been particularly great. He’s also not looked particularly out of place and there should be a bags of improvement between 17yo to 20yo. Under 21s or loan would be a good move. Quote

Really impressed with the work rate if nothing else. Be interesting to know how many times we won the ball back from the press. They played through it at first but as the game went on players just seemed to click and were spot on 1 Quote

Bohinen1983 Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Ref was awful- lots of fouls not given against us there.. Gueye changed the game- lovely yellow card straight after coming on. The guys an absolute beast- love him! Kragbo using his heavenly pace to shred teams with a solid base behind- could be an interesting season with a few shrewd addtions to the squad... 2 Quote
Old Codger Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago We look like we are hungry for the ball all the time, which is the hallmark of a hard working and likely to get results side. Hard to tell from the stream and the quality of the opposition what that might mean in terms of performance in the Championship, but at least if we have a side that keeps going for 90 minutes and works hard on and off the ball, no-one will be complaining about a lack of Labore. Just need someone to add some Arte and we might have a decent season. Loving the VENKYS OUT banner. 3 Quote
ObiWhan8t7 Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Going off this pre season so far it looks like we have a good blend of players in majority of the positions. The replacement offers something different to the other. De Neve offers more protection and kargbo can damage teams with his direct play. Another CM to compete with the Trav and Tronstad is needed. Then someone similar to kargbo on the right. Top it off with a utility forward and another CB and I think we will do alright Quote

Nowt wrong with that! And yes, Kargbo does seem quite zippy. I hope he is able to get into goal scoring positions very frequently, come the new campaign. 4 Quote

simongarnerisgod Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago i can see what val wants from his team, intensity the whole 90 minutesm,it`s going to be hard playing that way game after game,he`ll need a far bigger squad than he has now 3 Quote

He terrorised Elche at least as much as Gueye did and was that a penalty Kargbo won and wasn't given in the 88th minute? 5 Quote
Mercer Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Sterner tests to come. We certainly look fitter and more energetic but we can't pretend to play like that for a full season with the squad we have - need more depth and quality otherwise we might have shot our bolt before September is out. Noticeably, more long ball and direct. Can see Kargbo and Gueye roughing-up a few defences this season. Impressed with everything Toth has done - indisputably our number 1 now. Tyjon a bonus. Of the new boys - McLoughlin bang average, Alebiosu and De Neve are 'athletes' but not footballers who will hold down a place in our starting 11 and wont improve the team. Quote

Am I not convinced we need a far bigger squad than we have now. If a decent net three additions come in which is what Val wants, competition for starting places is going to be extremely intense because I'd rate Montgomery and Tyjon as worth a place on the bench even if we get the injuries back without new unavailabilities. Can clearly see what he’s trying to accomplish. Hopefully results come from it. Quote
