We looked knackered from the start, when did we actually travel over there?

Very few bright sparks in that apart from AK running the show for a while when he came on.

I’m afraid Gueye looked very much like the raffle prize winner today and Yuki poor too.  DeNeve was dreadful, one of his free kicks was as if he took it with a blindfold on.

Let’s hope they were trying not to over exert themselves and risk injury…..

NEC were decidedly better than the performance the toffees put on at Ewood.

This Summer's signings look underwhelming on that showing- none of them would be in my strongest XI or even go to subs. Going to have to hope that Miller is class and starts well.

Think it’s funny one of millers best traits is his long throw… to who?  Who in our side is he throwing into the box to?

Maybe we swam across the channel ?

I just hope that, when the season starts, that there's not this insistence to push Montgomery into the side as the new poster boy for the academy when the lad is patently not good enough.

It's not fair on him more than anything.

Simply must get a player or two in who can play right wing. Hedges is first choice and Mullarkey-Matthews his only backup. Frightening really, and I’m not even the biggest Hedges critic

There’s mistakes and then there’s thinking your playing for the British Lions not Rovers.

It's what v young players tend to do unfortunately. Trav produced a really bad challenge to get sent off at Portsmouth v early in his career.

The key thing is no to be reliant on them to fill the positions as regular starters so they can be taken out of the firing line

Unfortunately our model seems to be to have them as starters!

How else are we going to hit Gestede’s target of 3000 academy minutes this season.

Somebody should have told him you swap shirts at the end of the game not during it. It’s a long while since I last saw a “ tackle “ like that. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. The ref, who gave us next to nothing in my opinion, had no choice there.

I think we should take bets how long into the season post window shutting it takes for big Val to start using lack of experience as the go to excuse when things aren't going well ?

Firstly, I am not going to OTT based on this performance.

NEC was good technically side which was a challenge for us and good one cos they will be some teams like that in Championship.

We had chances during the games and we won the ball twice high but no shot on goal. Defensive poor at times but its pre season. I once watched us lose at PNE 3 nil under Big Sam in pre season in July 2010 and we were dogshit yet we won our first game against Everton

Karbgo's goal was good.

I haven't  seen any of todays game

I just think it is a sign of the games to come , I am not sure what Rovers lowest points total is with 3 points for a win 78/79 probably .

I would be surprised if we amass more than 30 points , this season .

The quality is more or less extinct , players are on the staff who wouldn't have made the reserves side 20 years ago .

Relegation is inevitable !

Venkys Out !

Totally agree.

Has been far too much hype about the lad.

From Marine and Chorley to commanding a place in a Championship team in 6 months doesn't add up.

Think he needs some regular football in League One and let's see how he fares there.

Sadly, our wafer thin squad probably wont allow it.  Most of us, given the players we've lost, thought we needed 7, 8 or even 9 new additions.

We flew out to Amsterdam this morning, then had to get a coach from the airport to Nijmegen, fit a meal in somewhere, play the game, get washed and changed afterwards, back from Nijmegen to Amsterdam and then fly home tonight.

No wonder they looked knackered.

Didn't see the game, but there's no need to overreact over one defeat any more than 4 wins.

For those who did watch, how did Toth do? I'm hoping we can count on him.

You would have thought NEC would pay our hotel bill.

Toth didn't make mistakes, yet NEC could/should have scored six.

I was concerned by the sight of them in their training kit looking in the dumps disembarking the coach exactly an hour before kick off. Even Gueye looked pissed off.

Schipol to the Nijmegen ground is going to be at least two hours on the coach and it didn't look anything like a Waggott special either.

For that matter so should we. From the Ohashi interception in the first ten seconds to five must score but didn't openings in the second half...

The question was about Toths performance, not our outfield players.

Embarrassing if true. NEC Nijmegen are paying an appearance fee to us for hosting the game yet we can't even use some of that money to pay for a one night stay at a hotel? Unprofessional to say the least.

How do we meet Squad registration rules? We around 21/22 already. Allow 25

How about not over reacting to one defeat yet where were you comments against the good performance against Everton and win, where were you?

Bit weird when we spent a good few days in Spain as well.

NEC were due to play yesterday against Werder Bremen but it got cancelled, not sure if we were a late replacement but we still had adequate time to sort a better schedule for the trip.

One slight positive from today was VI showing some passion on the sidelines, friendly or not, good to see that in a manager.
