I think that's a bit of a stretch to say at this stage - we've just had very  one good game but before that lost three others on the bounce, the first two deservedly so and the second of those two at home against League 1 Bradford.

Excellent today though, let's hope we can keep it up.

I disagree - The first game, we probably didn’t do enough but could’ve easily nicked a draw. The cup game was lost in the first 2 minutes and we suffered with the rotations, but we were well worth the win vs Birmingham.

Aside from the results, the point I was making was that in spite of losing Batth, Brittain and now Travis. Then replacing them with random foreign lower division imports, we’ve looked solid and well coached. Thats not easy to achieve in the circumstances.

I took abit of a battering yesterday on the transfer page for saying things weren’t as bad as people were making out.

Today doesn’t prove me right. But I do genuinely think that VI is building something - I’m not sure how it will turn out but there is clearly a strategy and profile and I’m looking forward to seeing how it will come together. In general I’ve liked what I’ve seen of the new signings.

Really don’t think we’ll be in the relegation mix - midtable looks a certainty.

Very nice! Cantwell ran the show and makes Hedges look a player. (Usually Ryan has me screaming abuse at the telly!) I like Alebiosu…..good replacement…..I remember how long it took Brittain to find his feet. Ohashi may work hard but there’s little result….he’s too easily nudged off the ball. Gueye isn’t the answer upfront either……..new striker please.
I know many are sad to see Travis go but I’m not one of them. He rarely scores, has no guile….prefers the back pass and can be relied upon to give a niggly foul or 2 in dangerous positions. Tavares looks better and Tronstad was excellent again today. So was McLouglin. Ribeiro and Hyam were ok. Hull were poor mind.

Kargbo, Henriksson (and Miller) are works in progress but De Neve ……not so sure about.

Ok aside from the results 😉

Well, let's see how the transition plays out, how players bed in, time needed for the new project....

....sorry, lapsed into clubspeak there.

Tavares, Alebiosu and McLoughlin all look well suited recruits to this specific style requirement. Cantwell also really stepped up into the “pantomime villain” role today unexpectedly. Absolutely ran the game.

Very impressed with Cantwell today, a proper captain performance and ran the show. Hedges on the left was like a new player and really liked Alebiousu, got forward a lot and looked great

He's bringing in a profile of player that fits what he wants to do - the concern is that we simply don't have enough of them and especially not in the right areas.

Look at the difference it makes when both wingers contribute - that was Hedges' unicorn performance of the season, he won't play that well again.

Superb performance. We were composed, dominant and cut through them at will. Some excellent passing moves on show. It really could and should have been 6-0.

Todd Cantwell. What a display. That is the Cantwell many of us expected when he first came in. A heck of a player when he is on it and it looks like being the captain might bring that player out. I think he thrives on being the main man. He looked like a quicker Tugay at times today to me. Let's hope he can find some consistency.

It's early days, but Alebiosu looks like he may be an upgrade on Brittain. Quick, strong, loves to attack. A good signing. McLoughlin is a class act who has slotted straight in. We aren't missing Batth as much due to this addition.

Fair play to Hedges too. Solid performance, he should have come away with a brace. That chance he was presented from Axel's pull back was like something you see from Barcelona. Difference being, they bury it! It would have been some goal.

Hedges is a decent squad option to have around. We could do better, but he isn't crap IMO.

Only one game, I know, but there are a lot of positives to take from that. Need to build on this now and hope they can bring three or four more in over the next week. Val said he's not a fan of loans, but I think we will end up bringing two or three in.

Made, I do believe, by that Dirk Roverseas bloke who, last season.. (checks notes) put his name to a WATR  statement calling for Venkys to sell up and leave. 🫤

Yeah, it’s not a difficult concept to grasp mate. I’m not saying we’ve played well before today, in fact I think we were relatively poor offensively in those first three games. My point was that in spite of the churn in players (‘Transition’), and those poor results, we’ve looked solid and well coached. Which isn’t easy to achieve in the current circumstances.

Sharpe might have cracked the code:

Tbf he was a goal away from being slated if he hadn’t then the header and big slice shot that looked easier to bury would have been criticised more

You can clearly see what the tactical plan is under Ismael and the players clearly understand that.

Is losing Batth a problem currently? Derby fans don't see to have a good opinion on him so far.

keep posting that.

Today was good win, clean sheet and the first building block in the wall under Ismael. Long way to go, a couple of signings need and couple out on permanent or loans

Don’t miss the Travis theatrics one bit to be honest

You will do as the season goes on they certainly would've been handy in the last 10 mins v Brum last week.

                                 Toth

    Alebiosu.  Hyam McLoughlin.   Ribeiro

                  Tronstad.  Tavares

This looks a good, strong 7 to me and an upgrade on 12 months ago.

                                 Cantwell

           Kargbo.       Ohashi.      Hedges

If Adam Armstrong was in place of Ohashi this would be fine. This tells me where reinforcements are needed.

Also, once any of the above 11 are subbed, injured etc, we look much weaker.  If we can add bodies in key areas we could potentially be competitive. As things stand it will be a long demanding season.

Crazy nature of the Championship early season today anybody can beat anybody.

Great performance but lets be real Toth single handedly prevented us going 3 nil down in a crazy few mins.  As i said the other week that lad is twice the keeper Pears is and he'll probably be the next big sale in a year or so.

Hull were everything i expected us to be..shite.. but VI got everything spot on today.

Hopefully a sign of things to come and not just a rare once a season away performance.
