On way home but why were Ipswich allowed to celebrate in front of own fans with no announcement. Bloody disgusting.

You might have a point but surely it's incumbent on Rovers to sort their own solution out?

We don't spend millions on players, we're not going to spend millions on the odd abandoned match.

The reff stopped the game when the ball completely stopped in a puddle of water. I can see why he did it. But then i have seen matches (including at Ewood in recent years) where they just keep going.

I reckon that game against PNE was worse conditions - granted we did a lot of damage to the pitch playing on in that weather.

No chance this game is going back on. McKenna will be non stop at the ref about players being in danger (bollocks). We clearly now have a drainage system that cannot take prolonged heavy rain, it is not fit for purpose, that is on the club.

If he was worried about player danger he'd have had a word with his own players - Hirst tried to break Ribeiro's legs (should have been a straight red) and they were sliding in for challenges all match.

What was the last game anyone can remember called off mid-game at Ewood?

I don't think it's happened in my lifetime (Prem era onwards).

Ah the BBC, someone should ask them why Final Score didn't have a reporter at the Rovers game for

the 2nd week running, they are supposed to cover every match in the Championship.

Scrap the licence fee I say.

They are totally useless organisation these days.

I wonder if the EFL can find a way to punish us here for not having an adequate pitch 🤣 that's more likely than them giving us a win, they never favour us.

It was all a bit shameless and cringy like they'd won the league. They should have celebrated a bit of good fortune quietly as it was a bad performance and they were on their way to another defeat. It all felt a bit desperate from a club you'd expect more of. It's made me think a lot less of McKenna. Where did sportsmanship go?

It's so fucking frustrating because it has detracted from what was a really good performance again, coming on the back of the win at Hull. I wasn't optimistic going to the game today, but thought we were excellent throughout.

Edit, win at Watford 😄

Nearest to it I can remember was pre Jack Walker,  a biblical deluge just before a game against the old Crazy Gang from Wimbledon, Vinnie Jones etc al, which left huge pools of standing water on the pitch and resulted in the game being abandoned with everyone in the ground.

No issues at all for years after the New Ewood was built until relatively recently.

It was hilarious as the only team that was using the wet pitch to slide into the opposition was them. Yet he was moaning to the referee about it being dangerous. Ref should have told him to stop his fucking players from doing it then.

In English league football (including the EFL Championship where Blackburn and Ipswich are now), the rules are pretty clear when a match is abandoned:

  • The result at the time of abandonment does not stand – unless the league specifically rules otherwise (very rare, usually only if the game is abandoned extremely late, e.g. after 90 mins + injury time).
  • The game is usually replayed in full, starting 0–0, with both sides having 11 players available again.
  • Any goals, cards, and the match situation at the time of abandonment are wiped from the official record.

So in your example:

  • Blackburn’s 1–0 lead wouldn’t count.
  • Ipswich would not have to finish with 10 men.
  • The game would be rescheduled and played again in its entirety.

👉 The only exception would be if the EFL or FA chose to let the score stand (e.g. if it was abandoned extremely late and the outcome was effectively decided), but 80 minutes is still short of that threshold — so almost certainly, it would be a full replay.

So there player won't be punished for a dangerous tackle....

Whay if the tackle had caused an injury

And them doing ‘Klinsman’s’ in the puddles, I was only a lad but got very angry in the Walkersteel!
