LeftWinger Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Just a bit of fun in dark times. Who would make it onto Rovers' 'Mount Rushmore'? A few potential suggestions: Jack Walker Colin Hendry Simon Garner Derek Fazackerley Bob Crompton Alan Shearer Brad Friedel Tugay Ronnie Clayton Bryan Douglas David Dunn Tony Parkes I think it's difficult to pick four. Tomphil2 Posted October 1 Posted October 1 If it's players only then Ronnie, Duggie, Faz, Garner for me i think. A lot will say Shearer but he's a Geordie and he'd be on theirs, others maybe Hendry and i'm a big fan of his but he bailed twice when it suited unlike the 4 mentioned. Non players it would be John Lewis, Jack Walker and maybe Bill Fox and John Williams. Managers ? Well certainly Kenny and Souness for me plus possibly Don Mackay but not sure about the other. Quote

Roving Mick Posted October 2 Posted October 2 I wrote this for 4000 Holes in 2002 and the council actually swallowed it hook line and sinker. https://www.rovingmick.com/jack-walker/ 3 Quote

RevidgeBlue Posted October 2 Posted October 2 (edited) Impossible to pick just 4 I'd say. Couldn't really differentiate between Crompton, Douglas, Clayton, Faz, Parkes, Garner, Shearer, Jack, Dalglish. Edit: playing wise if you had to pick just 4, guess it would be Crompton, Clayton, Douglas, Shearer. Edited October 2 by RevidgeBlue Quote

Salgados Hair Posted October 2 Posted October 2 Agree with the thing about Hendry bailing twice. Not a Mount Rushmore figure for me. Quote

jim mk2 Posted October 2 Posted October 2 (edited) Cannot comment on players I’ve never seen play so combination of greatest players and “great Rovers” in my lifetime: Clayton, Douglas, Garner, Shearer Edited October 3 by jim mk2 3 Quote
Backroom Mike E Posted October 2 Backroom Posted October 2 Got to be all the ‘Mr Blackburn Rovers’ for me: Bob Crompton, Fred Pentland, Jack Walker, Tony Parkes. I had to put Pentland in for variety and the fact I can’t split Dougie and Ronnie. Quote
broadsword Posted October 2 Posted October 2 How about Kendall, Moran, McKenzie and McNamee? Just fancied something random Quote
Roverreturns Posted October 3 Posted October 3 Funnily enough, detailed plans of a Mount Rushmore style sculpture were suggested and shared with the club as part of the 150th anniversary plans but ultimately didn't go anywhere. Based on the historical angle and focusing on the birth of the club (and our subsequent impact on the sport), 'Founding Fathers' was suggested as a working title, as was the inclusion of John Lewis, Arthur Constantine, Bob Crompton and Fergus Suter. I can't comment as to whether this plan will still come to fruition, but I very much doubt it. Quote
