I’ve seen Rovers get relegated several times and “ We played well but it just didn’t go for us “ ran through each of those relegations. Yep, Rovers are too nice to play against Quote

The other two represent the only vestiges of real quality in the squad for me which is why combined imo)with one of the worst managers we've ever had is why I have so little hope. Which players can we look at and say "we've always got a chance because of X" Can we trust the Head Coach to set us up in a manner to be hard to beat? The answer has to be negative in each case. 1 Quote

BankEnd Rover Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago We could easily be rock bottom come this time next week...Squad depth will really come back to bite us. We played well today, but it was inevitable that Coventry would come back into it. Based on performances I would agree we are in a false position but not by bloody much. Quote

Your guess is as good as mine mate, but I'd be fascinated to know what happens at training, given our start to the season. I think Ismael hinted in summer that he wanted a team of strong ,robust, athletic type players for this squad. So to address that, we sold our more consistent centreback in Hyam and now rely on two very injury prone ones. Then we signed a load of players who have never played in a division with this level of quality, match intensity and volume of fixtures. We then signed a player with an injury where we have no idea how serious it is or when he'll be able to play, or whether he'll be up to the speed and quality of the league. So we've definitely taken steps to be strong/robust/athletic etc. Edited 9 hours ago by StHelensRover Quote

Popular Post Bohinen1983 Posted 9 hours ago Popular Post Posted 9 hours ago Totally apathetic. I remember a rovers defeat ruining my weekend- not even bothered anymore. Resigned to getting relegated. A cheaply assembled team of players scattered around poor leagues in Europe with zero chemistry. I'll come back once Venkys and anyone associated with them has left the club. In the meantime I'd rather watch paint dry. 15 Quote

ElTwis Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago I actually don't think this seasons results are linked to managerial quality, the fact is that a lot of our players just aren't very good. 2 Quote

JCRovers Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago (edited) 7 goals from 9 matches is a big concern: Morishita - seen as a marquee signing yet didn't play a single minute today for whatever reason. Gueye - fallen out of favour Ohashi - hasn't improved/ stepped up since last season Gudjohnsen - his quality can be questioned at this point. Need a goal to get going. Cantwell - only one who has shown quality attacking-wise and are behind most of our goals (3 goals, 2 assists). Him getting injured at this stage with big matches coming up is a huge blow. Playing three at the back today worked decently up until around the 60-minute mark. However, it was a risky move knowing that we didn't have Carter as backup on the bench and Miller ended up getting injured. Funny how we played with Tronstad as a sitting midfielder in front of the back three yet failed to close down opposition players twice from shooting right outside the box? In both instances, you have 6-7 of our own players getting back defending the box vs 2 or 3 Coventry players? Why? What are our midfielders doing at that point? We're in trouble if we can't even do basic defending. And please, someone tell Rhodes to get down to the training ground and teach our strikers how to score goals just like what JDT did with Szmodics... Edited 8 hours ago by JCRovers 1 Quote
StHelensRover Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago I'd actually forgotten about Morishita today until you mentioned him just then. Like you say, he was the big one, the priority signing we worked on all summer apparently. 1 Quote
