Todd Cantwell - is he off?

I know hes classed as "injured" but this seems really dodgy to me. What started as a knock seems to of gone on for at least a month. There never seems to be any real info on it. Any inside knowledge here? It feels like dejavu a bit from history gone by.

I see they've fully committed to the 'model' of 13-15 years ago.

We are fans who are rightly suspicious when things like this arise. We've seen it too many times, something just seems off.

Ryan Nelson was made out to be near wheelchair bound, he played for Spurs a few days after leaving. We don't forget!

On the 4th of December Cantwell will have been out for exactly two months  - allegedly because of what was described at the time as "a kick on the knee".

Something is clearly awry even if it's "only" the fact we've misdiagnosed the severity of his injury.

The thing that irks me most is (in my opinion) VI lying through his teeth about it and pretending nothing is up. He's the perfect accomplice for this regime.

They think we are all stupid. 

I don't really blame them, the majority of the fanbase are. 

One look at the nonsense they've got away with over the last few years alone tells us that. When you've got people hissing and booing at the likes of Eustace and Travis and silent towards the likes of Venkys and Suhail it's no wonder they come out with this sort of thing. 

They could literally say or do anything and most of the fanbase would believe/defend them.

That would be 3 captains and 2 head coaches… Though i think will be safe enough until he wears the wrong socks or gets is towards the top 6…

Eustace, turned out to be a' good un' so they got rid!

He'd been quite heavily strapped up for a number of games prior to the injury - if anything, I suspect that we were expecting him to play through knocks (and it backfired).

If he was after a move, I'm not sure being sat on his arse would be his best method.
Especially when you consider that he's been - by some distance - our best player this season so far.

That's been Alebiosu by some distance imo but Cantwell has been good when available. Night and day  compared to his performances last season.

From Ismael's BBC Lancashire Sport interview, Cantwell doesn't seem keen on playing unless he's 100% fit. Sounds like he was back in training but then felt some pain in his knee, so he was presumably back in the treatment room and not on the training pitch.

Perhaps, making him play through the pain previously hasn't been too well received by Cantwell himself and is now standing his ground until he's 100%. 

Difficult to tell but it kinda seemed like Ismael was frustrated with him for this.

It would be helpful for the fans if we had an interview with Cantwell so we could hear the issues from the horses mouth. Has anyone heard a dicky bird from him in the time he has been injured? 
 

If his injury is a smokescreen for financial issues with the player then that is not acceptable and if VI is complicit then he can do one. 
 

Getting sick of all this “new project” stuff each season with the fans being fed a bunch of promises and lies.

He's on what, 44 league appearances?

I can see another 4 or 5 appearances in over the next 6 weeks before he hits the magic 50, before another mystery injury see's him out again, and then sold in Jan.

In the summer I thought it was to early for anyone to really take an interest in Cantwell, I think in January though there will be suitors as he will be a bargain for anyone with any real ambition to break into that top 6 and try and get promotion.

I can't see that happening. I'd say either it's a case we're all (apart from Islander) over-reacting and it's merely a niggling injury that has taken longer than expected to clear up, or, if negotiations have taken place behind the scenes, we won't see him again.

Whilst Cantwell has performed better as an individual, I still maintain we have been a more cohesive unit with him not in the team. With him dropping so deep we can look unbalanced with he, TGH and Tronstad all wanting to occupy the same spaces. Add in we don't have any natural pace or width high up the pitch we often end up having a lot of the ball in areas that don't hurt the opposition. Cantwell is IMO so much better when higher up the pitch, the further forward we can get him the better IMO. I hate seeing him dropping in and receiving it from the CB's or where the full backs are.

Someone mentioned Pickering, but Ribeiro too? I can't think of any reason you'd play Hedges LCB with those two available.

Did Ismael try to justify it by saying Hedges was an inch taller than the other two or am I completely imagining that?
