Earlier today the Celtic ticket hotline had the following message:

To ENSURE this match is a sellout tickets are now on general sale.

I suspect this thread may warm up again if there are 2-3000 empty seats at Parkhead tomorrow night :<img src=:'>

Marvellous, Rovers pass up a worthwhile allocation just so Celtic can put the tickets on open sale.

(And yes, the Club) have usually got it right in recent times)

On a more general theme the fact a "major" Club like Celtic has to put tickets on open sale just to try and ensure a sell out speaks volumes.

We're not selling out at Ewood yet it's easier for the occasional fan to get into Fort Knox than it is to get into a category A game.

We have to start taking a slightly more relaxed view towards ticket sales if we're going to fill Ewood. We can't keep going on about Man City for ever.

And, whilst I'm not entirely in favour of the idea, I can't understand how it can be acceptable for a club like Celtic to put tickets on open sale but not apparently Blackburn Rovers.

(Talking in general not for the second leg)

I'm sure many people share your frustration Revidge and after my terrible miscalculation on ticket sales for Parkhead may I now join you in thinking we have somehow been shafted.

But we've been shafted by Celtic and not Blackburn Rovers

As for the home game surely you understand Celtic are one of the best supported clubs in the world and infiltration would be on a massive scale if tickets went on open sale for the game at Ewood.

The club are certainly not hiding behind the City fiasco alone. Man Utd, Liverpool and Bolton have all had a good numbers of supporters in our home areas and the club and police want to ensure this doesn't happen in the future. Far to many games in the past have been spoilt for home supporters because groups of away supporters are situated in their areas.

Sad but true.

Spot on, GAV.

I'm not suggesting for a second tickets for the second leg of this tie go on open sale, just that we need to relax ticketing policy for League games.

If Celtic can't sell this game out without putting tickets on open sale we are not going to sell our games out with a more restrictive policy.

As far as being shafted by Celtic is concerned, several fans including Julie (aka Classy Bird on here, juetheblue2 on the official m/b) have said John Williams himself was walking up and down the queues himself explaining we had turned down the 7,200 allocation.

That's gone now, the vital thing is filling Ewood for the future.

Only 24 hours from Glasgow! COME ON YOU BLUES!

So we are being told porkies then?

Fellow posters on here said it was a steward who was telling people in the queue that John Williams had turned down 7200 allocation. John Williams didn't even deal with the tickets for this game we are lead to believe.

Understand your points Revidge and I like everyone else wants to see new support blooded on Blackburn Rovers. It's hard to get an adequate solution to the infiltration problem when some supporters only try to attend the big games.

if we REALLY want to see new support blooded then it is inevitable that that support will initially try to get to see the big games first.

this should and must be ENCOURAGED not put down. only in this way can we hope to become big enough in the long run to remain a premiership side.

games like this give us that chance.

we should have given celtic less seats and ENCOURAGED floaters, part timers and neutrals to come and see our fantastic product. a few will be hooked.

ticket conditions could state anyone identified as an away supporter WILL BE KICKED OUT. any celts attending without colours and keeping quiet IF they score could be tolerated - after all, we do have some manners don't we?

as long as the brfc staff acted for once i cannot see why this wouldn't work.

we have been cutting our throats by being so restrictive with ticket sales AND CAN NO LONGER AFFORD TO DO SO.

i was at the city game like most of you here and it was the only time i have left ewood early BUT WE MUST NOT LET THOSE MANC SCUM LET US PUT OUR FUTURE PREM PLACE AT RISK.

do we want to grow as a club or not?    ???    :rover:

Tickets on open sale at Ewood would be bought by Celtic fans.

Tickets on open sale at Celtic are unlikely to be bought by Rovers fans.

It will be interesting to see how many Celtic fans there are in home areas, particularly the Blackburn End, and what the reaction of Rovers fans and stewards/police will be.

Experience says the Celtic fans will be villified by Rovers fand regardless of how they behave until they are ejected.

Perhaps, for this game - if the Celtic fans are well behaved and good humoured - then Rovers fans could be a little more tolerant and accept them in home areas with good grace and take the opportunity to have a laugh and a banter with them?

(Or does anyone know what time the last bus leaves for Cloud Cuckoo Land?)

If we're 4-0 up then maybe, but ...

Suppose it's a fiery 2-2 at Parkhead with some sendings off and bad reffing decisions both ways, including a disallowed Rovers goal which is proved on TV to be OK.  Both sets of fans (but especially us) thinking they've been robbed.

Then at Ewood, with things on such a knife edge, as soon as the ref gets something wrong, or something happens, if there's infiltration there'll be a riot.

This is a cup tie with a lot depending on it.  Infiltration's a big enough pain in the a*se at league games, in an all-or-nothing European 2nd leg decider, I don't think any opposition fans in the wrong bits of Ewood will be well received.

Don't know what all the fuss is about, Tris.

I thought the UEFA Cup was low priority. Can't get excited about it personally. Why on earth should people be falling over themselves to try to get tickets for some meaningless match in a meaningless competition.

:D

PS. See you at Parkhead tomorrow

Don't they already?  ???

In the details about the home leg it says that away fans in home areas will be ejected if it is safe to do so. I would take that to mean nothing will happen- unless Lardarse tries to chuck some out.

As tickets for the non season ticket holders are now on sale anyone know what the demand was like this morning. My dad wants to go but is still stuck in the 60's and 'doesn't believe in them credit card thingies' so I'm going to have to either phone up for him or go down in the car for him tommorow.

I don't know how big the demand is, but a friend of mine(neutral) rang up the ticket office this afternoon with no buying history (and therefore not on the database)and blagged that he paid cash for the CSKA Sofia home match. All the ticket office did was check his postcode (Nelson) and he got 3 (Yes, 3!!) tickets. No problem.

So all I can say is any Celts in Lancashire will have no problem getting tickets in the home areas.

Where that leaves us I don't know.
