  1. Sounds like a sensible plan. Perhaps we should have kept him in case we had injuries or suspensions 🤦‍♂️

  2. The man talked the owners out of bouncing up the leagues. The man claimed he wasn't interested in the table and that possession was more important than results. The man then reinvented himself as a development coach. I'll stop there, it still irritates me but as a parting shot he signed Paul Caddis FFS and set up a rehap clinic for others.

  3. Not that old chestnut again. The best advice they were given was when Williams, Finn and Goodman wrote to them telling them they were wrong in what they were doing ie letting Anderson have the run of the place. Had they heeded that warning we wouldn't be in the state we are now. Instead of listening to those three they got rid of them and carried on with reckless abandon. I wonder who 'advised' them to do that. Similarly Paul Hunt wrote to them about the poison that was Kean (although Hunt had an ulterior motive) and he was sacked. Please don't come with the 'badly advised' excuse. We could get relegated for the third time in their watch on Saturday and it's all on them, they are totally to blame.

  4. If we go down its 100 % Venkys fault just as it is their fault the club is in this sorry state. If the club was run like a normal club Eustace would never have entered the door to begin with.

  5. Of course, because my 'doom laden' predictions have never come to fruition and have been entirely misplaced to date....

  6. Totally agree. Like kicking Travis out on loan along with selling Wharton and only getting a guaranteed sick note with only marginal more playing time than myself of late and on loan to boot. That sounds like a long term strategy that is the pits.

  7. Venkys have never ever once supported this club financially. They've paid in the absolute bare minimum required to keep the lights on and nothing more. Big fucking deal.

  8. We don’t do sensible.

  9. Main thing with TM is not only did he have a mid table budget he was also never ever forced to sell a player which is unheard of here under this ownership. JDT here 5 mins and loses several good players. TM wasn't a flop he just did what it said on the tin but he wasn't good either.

  10. I used them recently and I can vouch for them… however, once again a very small ( in the grand scheme of things), down the road operation. Surely Blackburn Rovers should be aiming to engage bigger fishes? But nah, just spin the Rolodex for the local firms already in the tent.

  11. Exactly. ’The squad’s shit, but I’ll have a go’. Just don’t listen to them if you don’t want to hear banalities.

  12. Whilst I think he had a better record than suggests, I don't think that second statement is close to true. The current debt is about 200 mill. I don't think we were getting anything like 100 mill from selling Dack, Brereton, Rothwell and maybe getting a bit more for Armstrong (even that one is predicated on if he was fully contracted at the time, rather than the actual timing being any different). More like 35-40, assuming we didn't replace them.

  13. Exactly. I'm finding the misinterpretation a bit baffling personally, but hey. I never said it was proactive, ambitious, etc, and I went to pains to point out that I wasn't backing Venkys, that they're incompetent, and that the need to put money in was necessitated by their incompetence. Yet still people seize on things and go off on tangents. Fact is, Venkys have spent 200 million (ish, I don't have the exact figure). They haven't put any money in since November. Their ineptness plus putting money in has put us in the shit situation we have been in. Their ineptness plus zero money being put in will only be worse (unless it results in them fucking off of course, but that's a great intangible for now).

  14. I think a few of you are misinterpreting some posts as pro venkys, I don’t think anyone in here is pro venkys , but there is a marked difference in them opening up their wallets and stripping assets , if we survive on Saturday I would like to think they realise the squad needs bolstered considerably or they will be league 1 bound. If no money is spent on the squad then no money will be spent by the fans. Time for them to show their intentions.

  15. He joined a team top of the league in January and looking for reinforcements and cover to their team. I doubt the intention was for him to play every week, they wanted cover, especially whilst Morsy went off to AFCON. Again, a side at the top of the league wanted proven capable depth to see them through the fixtures and get over the line, and happy to call upon him when needed. I wish we'd have signed players of that ilk in January 2022 and January 2023, but instead we did nothing and paid the price.

  17. If only this said “Rovers new owners…” & “Ewood”…🤨

  18. Indeed. Although I was delighted by the result at Leeds I couldn't help but feel embarrassed when the Rovers fans were singing "we are staying up"

  19. eustace is another appleton, dull, charisma free, dubious tactics and one of the "positive brigade",we could lose 7-0 every week and there would still be "positives" about it,i very much doubt he`ll achieve anything here, especially with the idiots running the club,i feel sorry for him in the respect but just can`t take to the fellow

  20. Love or hate Travis simple fact is that this club was simply not in a position to be loaning him or anyone else of first team level out, especially not in the first week of January. We haven't got enough options or depth to consider doing it. We knew that we had issues with funding from India. So the suggestion that we were getting him out for footballing reasons and that we were expecting to replace him just doesn't add up. Deep down beneath the BS is a simple financial calculation. Out he goes for 6 months and that's a saving of £100k or so. They thought it was easy and that they'd get away with it because we'd limp our way to safety and ultimately it would do us no harm. They might yet be right on that, but it's one hell of a gamble to play with our league status. But when the owners don't care about league status it is easy. Act now, tick the boxes and worry about the consequences later.

  22. I've watched him a few times too, to be honest it says everything about our season that often I've been more excited to see how he's got on. At first I couldn't bear it, like seeing your ex with someone else, but I just love watching the lad play. He's been played really deep compared to the role he was allowed to have at Rovers. It's almost like they've told him not to pass the half way line at times. I think he's been playing better and better each week, he seems to be running games from in front of his own back 4, and doing all the dirty work, he's also not afraid of a tackle and really works hard to win the ball back if he ever loses it. He may not have had many assists or action in and around the box, but it's usually his pass that sets the move going. The games against Newcastle and Fulham he started having more shots and was around the box more. The only issue I see is he seems to fade late on, and has been caught out being slow to track back a few times, but to be honest who hasn't.

  23. Trying to be optimistic here, everyone thought that we would get hammered at Leeds, but we ended up winning. So, getting a draw against a team already champions is possible as long as we don’t leave ourselves exposed at the back, as they are a counter attacking side. Parking the bus could work, but if we concede first we are screwed. At least it is in our hands.

  24. Agreed. I can't listen and haven't listened to a single press conference, he has had, since his appointment. After listening to JDT and his approach to calling people like Waggott out, I will explode inside, when he says what he does and makes out everything is fine and dandy. Granted like you say, he has to provide soundbites, but for now, until of if he proves himself worthy of managing Blackburn Rovers, I have no intention of listening to it.

  26. I have been told that there is a strong possibility that Watson Ramsbottom Solicitors will be replacing Totally Wicked next season.

  27. … a win takes them to the 100 point marker too which champions always love to have as a further bauble.

  28. I’m not talking about right now, as if you noticed I didn’t mention Southgate - but thanks for the correction, Eddie.

  29. So what's happened just this season alone is not enough then? What would it take for you to be critical of the club in any way?

  30. I think he was signed in case anything happened to Morsy. Injuries, suspension etc.

  31. It speaks for itself. Plenty of eminently forgettable players in that list

  32. They keep injecting money in, but the question has to be asked how we're still hitting this £20m loss per season still, considering we strip closer to the bone with every passing year. Nixon reckons they're still determined to get to the Premier League, but literally nothing they do matches with that thought process - unless a significant change happens, we'll be in League Two before we get to the PL.

  33. Just a shame he did cock all with them Mowbray has a lot to answer for the current state of this club - “content with mediocrity” Sam Gallagher epitomises every bit of that statement and that dinosaur spent £5m on him!
    1 point
  34. Mowbray signed way more bad players than good. Bowyer ( or his dad ) was the manager who signed good players.

  35. I think if you make comments like "we really are the pits" that should be on the basis of something that has actually happened rather than your doom laden predictions.

  36. Have you been following since Venkys took over? Support us AGAIN?

  37. True, but Wharton won't be at Palace long. Will depend where he ends up.
    1 point
  38. The difference without Wharton is palpable, with him balls went forward or in behind to start attacking play. Without him we continually go across the back line into the corner, back out again, across the line. Meanwhile all 11 opposition players have filled their box whilst we move it along like a hot potato going nowhere.

  40. That's the biggest problem. Even when things are going "well", I can't really enjoy it because I know our owners will find a way to nuke everything through incompetence and neglect (at best). Even when we seem on course for something finally going right - Mowbray and JDT both having us in fantastic positions midway through the season - the owners and the club contrive to find a way to destroy it with near-instant results. We don't just fall away, we collapse to the point where we achieve nothing, not even a playoff spot. Literally the only exception to this is the one season we spent in L1, and that was simply because we had a squad that was far, far too good for that league and should never have been relegated in the first place. If we'd hadn't self-destructed by appointing Owen Coyle and keeping him in place for 7 months we wouldn't have gone down in 2016/17. I think even if we'd gotten rid in December rather than February it would have been enough time to save us. But anyway, yeah, Venky Rovers, not a fan. I desperately hope that one day the club will be freed from this prison of Venky ownership and we can revive the real Blackburn Rovers. What we've witnessed since November 2010 has been little more than a cheap imitation of what we once were.

  41. When you cast your mind back to FA Cup quarter final v Sheff Utd last season and winning at Millwall last game of the season it is crazy we are in this position as a football club We were playing very attractive football and had young talent coming through Now we need Norwich a side we battered at their ground earlier in the season and Sunderland ditto to do us a favour The owners and people at the top should hang their heads in shame I just hope we stay up and bury this season in the confines of history never to be repeated Rao family need to sell up and bring in people who care, know what they are doing and bring back pride
    1 point
  42. That's coming whether we stay up or go down They'll try to 'box off' this season by blaming the boogeyman - in this case either JDT, Broughton or the Indian authorities - and then the aim will be to extract season ticket money from people by claiming lessons have been learned, changes have been made, problems resolved. All will be false, there will be no serious change and cannot be without ownership change, but they need something to try and stave off a catastrophic drop in sales, and they won't be cutting prices to do it.

  43. And got knocked out of the cups to Morecambe at home and Wigan. It was great to have a manager in JDT who wanted to do well (and did) in the cups.

  44. After Szmodics blazed his chance over the bar on Saturday against Coventry, our XG went to 0.46 Does that more often than not you would expect Sammy NOT to score that chance? XG just a bit nonsensical to me.

  45. I really wanted to like Leo but initially I thought he was a flapper but a decent shot stopper but then there was a game the ball went in like middle of the goal as if it just went right through him. if he can’t catch a ball and is dodgy on crosses, unless he really works and improves on that he won’t make it in this league. id go back to bromby in the summer and say you can have him now for 250k-500k and cut our losses , we don’t have time for a dodgy keeper. pears is a number 2 and that’s where he should remain. a decent experienced champ keeper brought in to take over as our number 1
