Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach

Been hearing it for years, never quite sure what we are transitioning to apart from cutting costs and the lower leagues. -

Decent numbers stayed, but loads around me were umming and ahing, a quicker turnaround and plenty more would’ve. -

The Legends game could’ve had a much better turnout if not such a long delay. -
Venky’s (& Suhail) Out Protest Ideas

It was because of the 150, if the Remembrance Game had been on the Southampton weekend it would have seen dissent in the stands. Still none the wiser what relevance it has anyway. But Masher going to Masher. -

Not even ‘I don’t care about Venky’s…’ from NO1 when 2-0 down. -

Club shop shut after the game too, was going to get that high quality programme as I didn’t spot them on sale at the kiosks (as advertised). -

Not too many were leaving right on the final whistle (or in the ten minutes before) in comparison to a normal game so there were definitely plenty open to staying, but they did then start traipsing off- but it was the hour wait that did it more than the actual defeat. -

Knows the club… or are Wolves not one of the ‘certain clubs’ where that’s a thing? -

Hang on so moving closer to home isn’t important now? Sure it was deemed so when a certain ex-Rovers manager was moving clubs … -

The support is there if this club ever got serious again (it won’t under this regime, so there is only one outcome that can lead to it). -

Reading the first page of this thread and Bill Fox was quoted about how blue and white has always been our colours, imagine the conversation with him over basing our whole 150th on Maltese crosses (and white smocks if they ever actually get round to having a commemorative shirt). But then he was a Blackburn and Rovers man through and through, unlike whatever that place is supposed to be now. -

Still don’t know why it couldn’t have kicked off pre, say, at 11.10am, then clear the pitch at 11.50 and do the medals, honour caps etc at half time. -

From memory we had about 12k ST holders that year and I think Wolves brought about 2k. So c6,000 walk ons, it won’t be dissimilar tomorrow, so the turn out is perfectly fine all things considered. -

We sold 9,000 season tickets, so it would be some doing to sell out a 31,000 ground for a second division TV game. They’ve sold a decent amount of walk ons compared to the rest of the games this season . Yet, as always if you’ve a pitiful number of ST holders as your base it’s very hard to come close to filling the ground. -
Great place to advance your career though. From arranging kids coaches to Head of Commercial in about two years, for example…

And they’ve come up with a white smock at ninety quid, and they think that will still sell better than a vintage blue and white Rovers shirt… sums them up. -

Not answered my question: So even if it was very briefly a badge for some players, in possibly a white shirt, why has the entire anniversary season been built on that mere foot note, not 148 other years of history and achievement? I.e said achievements in blue and white? -

The club, for a very short period, may well have worn a white shirt, no pictorial evidence, but ok. A few players with certain Midland public school connections may well have worn a Maltese Cross, certainly an interesting tidbit. However, Blackburn Rovers, if known for anything is our unique blue and white, the blue and white all our achievements have been enveloped in… yet, the regime has ignored all that and focused relentlessly on the Maltese Cross which was a mere footnote of our wonderful heritage, why? -

‘Proposed’. No evidence of it. The club didn’t have a ‘badge’ until the 1970s.
