  2. bad feeling about this one. I think a draw at best, and id take it. Hopefully we continue the away form.
  3. When I am watching a midfielder, I'm looking for certain parts of his game such as the interceptions, forward passes, tackles, assists, goals, tackles, first touch - exactly the sort of measurables that produce statistics. A good player will score highly in a particular metric which fits the role he's taking on. The coach or manager will pick or sign a player which excels in the areas they are looking for. If you aren't looking for the measurable items of play within a football player - what are you looking for? The colour of his socks, his boots, his hair? Ok, those measurables will change depending on the role / style of play, but they still exist. In an attacking full back you are looking for how many recoveries he makes, his crossing, stamina, first touch. For a goalkeeper you want to see his catching, handling. The metrics change but they are still driven by a measurable piece of data - statistics I don't see those measurables as a small part. They are a very large part. That they are now demonstrated in a series of tables and graphs is different but it is what we have all been looking for in a footballer. You may just term it differently For example, you seem to despise "xG" but ultimately you will look at a players (attempted) finish and remark: "he should have scored". This is what xG measures for you. Nobody relies upon it solely or else no scouts or coaches would attend football matches. Denying its benefits, and making out like it is only a very small part of what measures a player, is foolish. Statistics are all around you - just you aren't measuring them
  4. Anybody saying that seriously (I’m presuming they are joking) obviously is too young to have actually watched Scholes in action. Without doubt one of the greatest players I’ve ever seen in person.

  6. Today
  7. Me neither but they do have some decent players . Last I heard , he had withdrawn from the process !
  8. Did you not get a sense in 2022 that there was renewed vigour when they appointed Broughton and JDT? If they weren't interested at all, why cut Mowbray off? If they weren't interested, why would they get bored? He was a steady eddie, never rocked the boat, never asked for more money as he admitted himself. Why risk that if there was no interest, or no intent? JDT was far more volatile than TM, and I seem to remember Broughton coming in ruffled Suhail and Waggott's feathers. In fact, the rumours were there was a total split in the camp, Broughton and JDT vs Waggott and Suhail. That complete change of approach came from somewhere. I'm not saying it originated in Pune, but I also don't think it would have come from the cosy corridors of Ewood.
  9. Only you and your entire argument....
  10. We just have agree to disagree cos we aren't going to agree one bit What are going on about now? Fairly ordinary player??? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
  11. Tough gig that for JDT at Norwich, not sure I'd fancy him leading a relegation battle at a new club. Unless it's more of a long term 'project' 🙄
  12. Doesn't matter when it's from. It's out there.
  13. Not everyone within our fans base is your age, nor have they followed the club as long as you have. Do you really think a 19 year old rovers fan was keeping tabs on things like this at the time, when they were at primary school? A huge chunk of our fan base are the younger generation, increasing awareness to them is important. They'll be aware of the most recent shit show obviously, but the Venky rats regime goes back much further.
  14. I cant believe the clearly sarcastic suggestion that Wharton is much better than Scholes was has been taken so seriously.
  15. Fair point. I'm aware of the distinction but couldnt care less not being a fan of either Club.
  16. It's not ridiculous at all. What we need is an up to date Expose' of some genuine significance which might make a difference. Not a tired old rehash of ancient events which, rightly or wrongly were examined and passed off by the relevant Authorities as "nothing to see here" at the time.
  17. I suppose you can when you don't understand basic life concepts like luck and chance.
  18. What a completely ridiculous comment. I suppose we shouldn't discuss any events that happened in the past because we already know what happened.
  19. Dear me, Rev It's Nottingham Forest and Notts County
  20. Christ, what's your beef with Wharton chaddy? Your obsession with trying to convince everyone that a fairly ordinary Notts Forest player is better than an ex Rover is frankly beyond weird, irrespective of whether you're right or wrong.

  22. What's the point of all this nearly 15 years on? A lot of innuendo from Harris without actually revealing anything we didnt already know or anything particularly significant.
  23. I dont think the stats do back up that opinion personally. They prove that in the Premier League, playing in predominantly a different role in a team with totally different expectations and a totally different style, Anderson has the most progressive carries etc (which isnt really what I personally think is a priority for a holding midfielder) based on stats from whichever company they come from. To extrapolate that to believing that hes been the best midfielder in the league or that it proves the argument that Anderson is the ideal candidate to play a different role for England off the back of that is IMO not correct.

  25. Sunday nights in 70’s, although we couldn’t afford Matey bubble bath…
  26. Carey looks set for a place on our list. A bit unfair putting him in the 70s section as I read it was a thankless, almost impossible task coming back in 70/71. England and Newton safely through last week. Pickering will be joining them this week. A fine team that fans saw in the 1960s.
  27. Based on what? No-one is reliant on them but used it to back people opinion that Anderson is better suited to playing the number 6 (defensive midfielder) role than Wharton at this stage plus how Tuchel wants that role played and how the team play
