Is traffic bad round Ewood?  I mean worse than any other ground?

I get the 10 miles from Leyland every matchday in around 15 minutes to my parking spot on the Livesey Branch.  I dont think thats bad.  Course there is gonna be traffic, look at Old Trafford, dual carraigeways every way away from the ground yet its hundreds of timnes worse that Ewood (and yes I know there is more people)

I'm much the same Stu, never any problem GETTING to the ground. We can leave at 2.35 and be inside for KO. Getting out again is a bigger problem as by the time we've made it back to the car there's a big queue out of the car parks on LBR and we rarely get back in less than hour from FT. On the odd occassion at OT we get home quicker than from Ewood.

The traffic problems seem to be worse heading back into town, up Bolton Road and the road that cuts across to Witton Park - can't recall the name.

I'd happily use a bus from EP to Chorley on match days but there isn't one

Given that Blackburn has a large ethnic minority population and East lancashire has a whole, i would like to know what the club are doing to attract more of these people?

Yes. East Lancs does have a large 'ethnic' population. Maybe the club should offer them tickets at exactly the same price as everyone else. smile.gif

To have a first team player/players from one or more of our ethnic populations would probably add thousands to the gate

I didn't know about that.

However I've often wondered about a park and ride scheme operating from the motorway junction (lets face it, all the problems seem to be the motorway to the ground).

I get the park and ride scheme to every home game from The Bowling Green pub in Darwen, and so far so good we never really have any problems from the motorway to the ground, the odd occasion when its been REALLYbusy we have had to get off at the petrol station and walk to make it for KO, but apart from that we usually get into Ewood with at least 20/15 mins to spare.

Exactly i've been to over two thirds of the grounds in football league, and ewood as got one of the most parking facilities there is. What do people want to do park outside the ground and get a police escort as soon as they want! Get realistic withstupid.gif

323705[/snapback]

Other grounds in the league may be as bad as Ewood, but people who come to a one off game like the womens Euro or have never been to Ewood before don't care about other grounds withstupid.gif . As Glenn points out a park and ride scheme from the motorway would be a fantastic idea.

It's OK for us regulars to say you can get this bus or park here, but thats no good to your first time supporter who doesn;t know these things withstupid.gif

I really don't think traffic is a problem in attracting rovers fans. I live in leyland about 15-18 miles and i only have to leave about 40 mins before kick off to get to Ewood Park and park the car. The problem is rovers fans near but not in blackburn, like me, don't see the incentive in going anymore, me being the exception (5 years as a season ticket holder now rover.gif ) but i must know 30 - 40 people near me who suport rovers who only maybe go to see man utd or liverpool!! Bloody armchair fans are killin us people! unsure.giftinykit.gif

More bad news today in that Vinjay still intends to renew his season ticket. No doubt this'll go down particulary badly with those people still in two minds over whether to renew - those people who have to sit near to someone who spends all his time at games moaning about the lack of money spent by the Walkers, stamping his feet and shouting "It's not fair, it's not fair" in a tantrum will no doubt not be renewing now.

Apparently, due to Vinjays criticism of Walkers, the club have severed all links. We will now be eating Seabrook's finest when the new season kicks off  tongue.gif

Why pay for something if the product isnt good enough re: season ticket sales?

People will only pay top dollar for a match if their team is a... winning team, parking, price, proximity, poor astmosphere, all become secondary if the team is a winning team.

Rovers finished as a bottom six club in the premiership last season with one of the main reasons or the main reason being the lack of quality up front, good strikers we didnt have, if thats to continue again then why should people go to watch an outcome were the probability is Rovers wont win. Then we all search for the excuses not to attend.

The club have no option other than to pay top dollar for two strikers, failure to do so puts premiership football at Ewood Park in serious jeopardy and further erodes the crowds.

Just to add to the gloom..just heard that FIVE season ticket holders sitting in adjacent rows to me in the BBE will NOT be renewing this season.

Reasons vary from Young Adults now working away from the area and only able to get back for some games(2),the "transfer in of Savage"(1), the "Transfer-out of Ferguson (!!) (1), and the "poor performance at home over the pat 2 seasons" (1).

Prepare for a staggering drop in the total number of season tickets sold.

......hmmmmm? Now if only we could organise some collective whinging & maybe put a catchy tune to it, at least it`ll create a bit of atnosphere! wink.gif

Maybe a whingers enclosure.....

I was thinking about this and came up with an idea. Now it may seem stupid, but we may as well put any kinda ideas down on paper. Anyway, my idea....

Its obvious that the majority of asian kids prefer cricket to football. Now, thats not racist, sterotyping, generalising, its just plain fact. However, what about the idea of having a joint football season ticket at Ewood and a season ticket at Old trafford (cricket). Obviously we would need to talk with lancs ccc, and im sure that it would take a good deal of sorting out, but why not? I think both sides would benifit as cricket can be watched in the summer and football in the winter. Now, i dunno how much a lancs ccc s/t is, but say its £250 at lancs and £400 at Ewood, we could offer a joint s/t for a whole calander yr for say £550, a saving of £100.

I know its sounds weird, but what do people think about the idea. We gotta try something ffs!! tinykit.gif

I really can't see how this would encourage more people to come to Ewood. It's not as if we would be tapping into a huge resource of season ticket holders at LCCC. All the club can do IMO is reach out to everyone in the local area; getting involved at with local schools to promote Rovers and encourage people from every background to come to the club.

I'd urge anyone thinking about that to do their sums carefully. At £225 for a BBE Young Adult you only need to go to 9 home games at £25 each to pay for the Young Adult ST. My eldest will be away from late January and I plan to get him an ST just to cover the first half of the season - will probably then invite someone else along in the second half.

A Young Adult ST makes a lot of sense for people at uni, working away etc. How about sharing with a friend, be imaginative.

This is the sort of lateral thinking Rovers need to employ. Just to correct the prices at LCCC, which are dirt cheap:

Full Adult ST: £120 plus a one-off £35 joining fee

Country ST: £70 plus one-off joining fee of £35

Under 16: £10

An LCCC ST is actually membership. The "Country" ST is for those who live outside of a 40 mile radius of OT. My kids are members at LCCC and get free tickets to take their father blink.gifblink.gif

did anyone else see the current marketing strategy of Darlington FC ?

A drive via dvd for potential season ticket holders.

Touching base with ALL persons who have purchased tickets from the club over 5 years.

Offering season tickets at a frozen price.

Free home shirt with the season ticket.

Now thats a club doing the business and it would appear to have gone down very well with the people of the town.

I am not too sure about a comparison to Blackburn and Darlington but thats a marketing strategy that SHOULD and COULD be very useful to a club like ours.

A lesson to be learned from the small clubs perhaps ?

And how many of Blackburn's Asian folk do you think are members at Old Trafford. Let me guess. Somewhere between 0 and 5 I would say. What a crap idea.

Bolton have already sold nearly 22,000 season tickets......we'll be lucky to sell 11,000 IMHO.

Bolton are riding a crest of a wave at the moment, with their best premiership season last term. Also, Bolton is one of the biggest towns (not city) in England with a population of around 300,000.....far bigger than Blackburn.

.....Unfortunately, Rovers have been in a bit of a rutt for the last couple of seasons, it is affecting attendances big time!

Mark Hughes could do worse than to look at our near rivals & see what Boss Nas has achieved on a shoe-string budget......something which Rovers have to get used to.

Thats the whole point you muppet, it might encourage Asians to go to both Old Trafford (cricket) and Ewood park, obviously football during the winter and cricket and summer. I wasnt talking about those already members of lancs ccc but of both working together to attract some more fans. As i said it was only an idea ffs, can you come up with something better you clown? Doubt it, your prob 1 of those to$$ers who moans the whole time but comes up with nowt to do anything about it

I'm renewing my season ticket via the internet, never paid for anything on the internet before.

I can't think of £225 spent 'better' on anything else. People will either stick it out or not, until we have a good run of results on a consistant basis then, like anywhere else we won't get decent attendances.

I know 11 people who won't be renewing, all who decided they weren't renewing well before the end of the season and I can't blame them.

It's expensive, some of their kids aren't happy to sit in the pouring rain watching c*** football, stupid kick off times.

The main factor is we've been c*** for the last two seasons and until we start performing well, then we'll get those fans back.
