Uddersfelt Blue
Just watched the BIG CLUB v West Ham (1-2) but what a sparkling performance from Dunny. OK, I know many will say he's injury prone and he was overweight and he only played when he wanted to and........ Personally I believe he's just the player we need to unlock defences. A great performance tonight, but which should have been in a Rovers shirt!!!

MCMC1875
Shouldn't be a problem - he's only playing for a small club.

Yorick
Not having won a home game all season resulted on lots of empty seats at the big club. Anybody see the Heskey booking? I know it's at the other end of the pitch but Heskey's hand of God impersonation kinda puts Todds recent misdemeanor into perspective and at the same time shows up the rigid and inflexible interpretation of the laws of the game to be flawed. Todd denied Beattie a possible goalscoring chance from 30 yards out and was sent off whereas Heskey blatantly and openly tried to cheat West Ham, the Ref and the public by putting the ball into the nett with his hand, then playacting disappointed and disbelieving of the decision and all he got was a yellow! Incidentally it was a topdrawer spot by the referee. Well done fella. Edited December 6, 2005 by Yorick
Blueboy Downunder
Couldn't agree more, it'd be like Colin Hendry coming home. 365276 i think it would be even better than the big fella coming back. main reason is cause dunny is one of our own, born and bred. dunny contributed to his own departure from ewood park but that is in the past and it seems like he has turned over a new leaf....having a home grown boy, come home would be fantastic! American
mumble grumble * should never have let him go- should have got rid of his nemesis instead * mumble grumble Seriously, PLEASE COME HOME DUNNY. We need you 365273 5 million was a STEAL for Dunn. What was the big complaint of his nemesis? Injury prone and uninterested. What percentage of matches has he played in? I'd love to see him back, and if we can get him for the amount we might be able to get for Thompson should we decide to sell him (not saying we will) I'd be thrilled. I also wouldn't count on him to replace Tugay, as he wouldn't play enough matches.
pg
Totally support you there. Dunny would be a perfect replacement for Tugay. I`m sure he would love to come back. 365269 Absolutely. Hughes needs to set Dunny down at training and say "Watch what Tugay does, and go and do it". Dunno if Dunny would mind being an 'under-study' at his age, and not being guaranteed a starting position every week, as you couldn't play Tugay and Dunny together in a 4-4-2 IMO. Mind you, Hughes loves 4-5-1 so much... and that formation can acutally suit David Dunn very well. As others have pointed out, there are still issues regarding is tendencies to be injury prone. But he offers something that the rest of our central midfielers (Savage, The Axe, Reid) clearly lack. Edited December 6, 2005 by pg
joey_big_nose
The way we play at the moment Dunn could fit in on either flank or in the centre or as a supporting striker. Indeed he would be pretty much the ideal player for Rovers. Irrespective of the 'home town boy' stuff there are few attacking midfielders of his quality that we could afford. Not sure that he will be 'the new tugay' though. He always wants to be in the last third unlike Toogs, and why not? That's where he causes the damage afterall! He is coming up for a contract renewal soon so that will tell us whether he sees his future with Brum. To be fair the big club have been good to him - supported him through injury and Bruce always speaks of him highly. It would be a bit cheeky if he just buggered off. That said I am all for it if he ends up here (and he is fit)! Edited December 6, 2005 by joey_big_nose
philipl
Let BIG CLUB get him fit then steal him in the summer when he refuses to extend his contract. Petrov is back in love with Celtic by the way but no sign of him signing anything. Even so, Bring Back Dunn!!! PS BRISA could let it be known that a local favourite like Dunny returning is very likely to put a boost into attendances- the loss of Duff/Dunn lost the magic of Rovers for a lot of people. PPS Bruce is a rubbish manager and sitting four points adrift of safety with some interesting fixtures coming up could well see the porn boys not wielding the cheque book in January to dig him out of a hole. The obvious solution is BIG CLUB to go down and picking Dunn up from the debris when it happens. Edited December 6, 2005 by philipl
Yorick
This is turning slushy and sentimental. Dunne needs to play a lot of games on the spin, prove effective and fit and keep his weight down for a long period of time before he is even worth thinking about. How often are real assets like Tugay, Reid and Savage injured? Compare them to the likes of other crocks that we have bought and simply wasted money on that would have been better spent elsewhere Steve Agnew, Dahlin, Amoruso etc to name but a few. I think the return of Dunne would be a disaster. His personality would ensure that he played a conquering hero and prodigal son all rolled into one. It's a long held belief in show business that you should always leave the crowd wanting more and Dunne seems to have done that. Duff would be a different matter. bubblerrovers
Yeah he'd be a great signing why don't we sign shearer again too and i hear wilcox is on form too, get over dunn boys we have great memories already. Dunn is not the answer.
Wild Irish Rover
Slushy sentimentality won't find us the replacement for Tugay that we need. Dunny is undoubtably a talented player who can add another dimension to the team play, whoever he plays for. However, the comments on his stamina, overall fitness and susceptibility to injury are all warning bells that we would do well to heed. Surely there are other candidates that would take Rovers forward and not looking to the past for inspiration and drive? Dunny had his day at the Rovers and, sadly, I think that should be the end of the story.
OJRovers
I say get him back- being a local lad it adds a few % to playing for your home team. Plus the look on Bruce's face will be worthwhile
ihtd
Id have him back but his injury record does worry me, do we really need a guy who may only play 10/15 games a season? I have no doubt that he is a quality player with an unquestionable talent, but we should approach Dunny with caution.
Ricky
I'm not worried about his injuries. They have all stemmed from the back problem that has now been sorted. Initially he was being treated for the wrong thing so it's no wonder he was out injured a lot. I wouldn't be surprised to see him play most of the games up until next summer and sneak a place in the world cup squad.
Martin
I am absolutely convinced he will come back one day. It would be a great siging on so many levels. Ideally we could do with Brum getting relegated or even better........ Bruce gets sacked and so does Souness. Then Souness takes over at Brum takes them down and sells us Dunny back for 500k. Now that would make me happy.

Nayef
Did anyone else spot the yellow card given to the west ham player for practically the same handball foul as Todd? Perhaps there was a slight hint that he wasn't the last man but nonetheless used his hand to deny the brum player a clear run on goal. (And Halsey was fourth official there last night) Heskey - what a cheat. I know I shouldn't have been grinning like I was in a pub full of brummies but when that yellow card flashed up, followed by angry uncontrollable outbursts from everyone in the pub, I couldn't help myself... Forget Rovers, this will be a fantastic season if Brum (and Everton) join Sunderland down to oblivion.
1864roverite
get over it Nayef, Halsey is the biggest muppet since Fozzie bear. Rovers still have the stigma created by moanalot and whinger and it still attracts the wrong attention from referees and the media. In any case the decision would not have been reversed and indeed Rovers are not appealing on this occasion. In relation to Dunn, he could just be the missing link and replacement for Tugay - Yes I have slated, hung drawn and quartered him and slagged him off - but I really do see this lad as being the Rovers creator ala Tugay in the near future. bring him home if he can keep fit for the rest of this season.
