You can look at it 2 ways though, Chelsea are a side with a seriously dented confidence at the moment (except their 7-0 which just HAD to happen the game before us) I think we need an early goal and then they play scared. Who better to get that goal than Roque?? I reckon he should be started alongside Kalinic throw Hoilett and Olsson full pelt up and down the wings and try and rock them early. If RSC isn't fully fit then sub him off at half time or whatever, depending on the scoreline for an extra midfielder maybe? Bring EH on and put Hoilett between the midfield and attack. Or I hear N'Zonzi might be fit bring him back to sit between the midfield and defence. Or if it's still a draw or we're losing then throw MB on. I think an early goal is what we need and Santa Cruz has to be the favourite to score for us.

Is anyone not excited?

I haven't felt like this for ages.

I have spoken to a number of people at work (Yorkshire so not biased) and the general consensus is that he's a great signing for us, especially in January.

Wake up and smell the coffee guys. Things are going fine

I hope that Santa Cruz is able to find the form that got him 'dream' move in the first place. He has good qualities no doubt, but one of them isn't his fitness. He will play a lot of games for us if fit and this will show if he has gotten over his injury problems. We have a good few options up front now and I would like to see him and Kalinic or him and Diouf play together. I do have to laugh though when Roque says that everyone knows what Blackburn means to him. We didn't mean that much to him in his final season, when he was bitching all the time about moving to a bigger club, that we were only a stepping stone and then claiming that he was just being misquoted! I wasn't happy with how he treated the club that got his career back on track, but that is the way of modern football. You only have to look to the likes of Bentley and Bellamy who've done the same thing to us in recent years. You forget very quickly what your current employer has done for you when a bigger club comes calling. I wonder what he will do if he has a successful loan spell with us and in the summer another team comes calling? Lets hope that's the situation, because hopefully that will mean we've finished in the top half of the table and he's scored a lot of goals for us.

Exacty, C'mon Rovers!!!!

Doomsayers wind your necks in until you have proof, otherwise let's focus on the stuff we can see happening...a result at the bridge would be the icing on the cake.

Aye mate, and if someone came along to you and offered to more or less triple your salary, you'd just stick around at the place you're at wouldn't you...? Out of the kindness of your heart. Hughsey did bring him here from germany, and Allardyce was shyte, so I reckon it was a no-brainer for him.

Now, things change in life, Hughes goes, Roque(still a £17m man if given the chance) falls down the order in a crazy crazy club like citeh....We here, good old blackburn...we'll pick him up for about 3 or 4 million and then who cares if he wants to go again...?? We sell him for another profit...Happy Days.

"Everyone knows what Blackburn Rovers means to me."

I won't even comment, I'll just leave this direct quote here and see how the "optimists" will start crying about how I'm putting a negative spin on things again. Because apparently posting facts, statistics and quotes disturbs the special little world the optimists have barricaded themselves in.

Blackburn Rovers is special to me but if I was a player, ven if I played at Ewood, I would jump ship to earn an extra massive wedge and have the potential chance to win things. Doesn't mean Blackburn Rovers wouldn't still mean a great deal to me.

99.9999999%of people would do the same as Roque. Cash is king

Gamsty is a happy chappy.

Got great news today' date=' Roque Santa Cruz coming back to us. I met him on the training ground today, and it was great. He is only coming on a loan for det rest of the season, but had it been up to me we had signed him on a permanent move for ever. Roque is one of the absolute best players I’ve ever had the honour to play with, and I am so glad he is back here with us. This signing will strengthen our attack and give us a whole new dimension in the box. So now I just hope he is ready to play against Chelsea tomorrow. Now we jump on the train down to London to get ready for the match tomorrow. My good friend Roque joins us on the train down, and I can hardly wait:)

I'm really pleased with this. Santa Cruz paired with Kalinic would be our best striker pairing since Shearer/Sutton, certainly since Cole/Jansen anyway. If he's fit and stays that way, that is...

I read in one of the news reports that there is an agreed fee between Rovers and City, has someone been able to figure out what it is?

Imagine saying that to your girlfriend. "You're special to me baby, but if there was this much more attractive girl walking down the street, whom I could use to get further up in society, I'll be gone. 99.999999% of guys would do the same thing. But you still mean a great deal to me."

Though I honestly believe a number of people on this board wouldn't see a problem with that either.

So Mr. E.....you're comparing a football career to having a girlfriend?!? In other words...players like Roque, Drogba, Messi, Ronaldo etc should never have left their hometown club in the first place? Or at least Ronaldinho should never have left PSG (or Gremio), Ronaldo should still be playing in Portugal and so on and so on...

Unbelievable! I for one welcome Roque back with open arms. He's been a great asset for the club and probably saved us financially when he left due the inflated price. Looking at Gamst' comments on his blog I feel this is one returning player that will be welcomed straight back into the team and hopefully bring a new dimension to our attacking play.

From a professional footballer's persepective, a football club is an employer. And in most employer-employee relationships, cash is king. A true pro "loving" his club is a rare thing. It's the fans, not the vast majority of players, that love football clubs. Dunn might have that feeling for the Rovers, but that's because he's a local boy. On the other hand, that did not prevent some hard nosed negotiations when it came time to discuss a contract. Ronaldinho recently demonstrated the same concept with his local boyhood club, but with a different result.

A class lady (and I talking about far more than just looks) is not, unless you equate a real lady to a hired escort.

That's fine. Now I redirect you back to Mr. Santa Cruz's quote. "Everyone knows what Blackburn Rovers means to me."

He does not say "Blackburn Rovers were an important step in my career" or "I enjoyed my time here at Blackburn Rovers". He says "Everyone knows what Blackburn Rovers means to me." One does not use the latter language when speaking about a former employer. One uses it when they're trying to make the fans believe that the relationship is a bit more meaningful than employer - employee.

Excellent signing

A proven premier league scorer, who is equally at home up front on his own or playing with another

Hopefully Kalinic can learn a thing from him too

Every other football fan i've talked to thinks he is a great signing

Onwards and upwards!!

I'll spell it out to you. In the analogy I used, RSC is the hired escort. He is a professional with a job to do. He'll earn more money if he pleases the customer (the club and by extension the fans). He'll say whatever he thinks will improve his financial situation.

Much like the paid lady will tell you how handsome and large you are. Here's a clue. She's lying. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't appreciate the effort.

The club needs a proven PL goal scorer. RSC has that past. His injury record is a concern, but its the reason we got him cheap. I'm hopeful that the football gods will be kind and RSC will score a boat load of goals.

And like a customer who is well pleased, I will then give him a nice tip in the form of buying a Rovers shirt with his name on it. My doing so does not mean that he give two hoots for the Rovers. All it means is that I will have appreciated his performances.

If you want scrappy squads who play for the love of both the game and team, I hear that England has lots of pub teams.

Always thought that is I was a great footballer my plan would be be a Blackburn from 18 to 25, leave for 5 years and come back at 30 and finish my career. And I am a fan, so I can understand anyone wanting to leave.

Facts are in the last 5 years particularly Blackburn have been a club going no where, so Santa Cruz was right to leave.

Now is a good time to come back.
