Really no interest in the new game of thrones, i thought by the end they'd milked it for all it's worth in the original show, the new one looks like more of the same only duller and without all the great characters and actors from the first show and being a prequel set only a couple of hundred years earlier you kinda know how it all ends.

The lord of the rings series looks fantastic though! Potentially even better than the original movie trilogy

Yeah it might be thrones overkill but will give it a go anyway, if only to see the lead being acted by a Rovers fan.

Yeah prime dropped a 3 minute trailer today for rings looks good and they have spent an absolute fortune on it

I'll most likely give it a go tbh, just not excited about it 😞

The new rings looks like it should at least wipe the awful hobbit trilogy out of my memory

The money they've spent on it is insane though, god knows how they really make money back on it without any kind of pay per episode or  cinema release...

I’ll give H of D a try, but I’m still fuming with the absolute shocker that was the Game of Thrones final season

They genuinely took a legit cultural behemoth and gutted it by not giving it the time it needed.

For my money, I actually wouldn't have changed the story much, but they should've let the events of the last episode play over 4 episodes or so.

There also should've been a more complete reveal whereby when Jon Snow killed Daenerys, Drogon lights him aflame in rage, but Jon walks out of the fire. Aegon Targeryon.

Look at how popular Harry Potter still is, GoT deserved at least that level of relevance.

Going to start on Sandman, looks right up my straight..... Looks to have been universally very well recieved as well.

Finished strangers things 4 last week, haven't been a massive fan of stranger things (well the first two seasons where a bit dull) but season 4 was absolutely brilliant in parts,

Some of the story lines could have been cut right down to make it a bit shorter though, I thought all the stuff in Russia could have just been cut right down into a couple of episode.

Frustratingly looks like it will be at least 2 years before the final season arrives, which could be strange as the kids are going to look ridiculously older by then, especially considering it should be pretty much carrying on right where season 4 ended

Watched the film Animal Kingdom like 10 years ago and that's REALLY good so never felt the need to give the tv show a watch

It's loosely based on that as in its a criminal family the series and film are a lot different

Might give it a go sometime thanks.

Have you seen the aussie film "the snowtown murders" If you like true crime stuff? Probably one of the most truly disturbing films I've seen in the past 20 years, a very tough harrowing film to sit through, really gets under your skin but it's so well made and acted(mostly by first time actors!) and the story is so morbidly fascinating, almost unbelievable to think it is completely based on a real story and that in reality the true happenings where supposed to be even more disturbing!!

Carrying on my HBO binge, watching ‘Big Love’, about Mormons in Utah who engage in polygamy.

Obviously a drama so of course liberties will be being taken with the reality of their lifestyles, but still a great insight into a batshit world…

I watched 'Trainwreck' Woodstock 99 on Netflix earlier this week, very good watch and far from Woodstock 1969.

They built up the atmosphere extremely well on the documentary, worth a watch for any music fans.

I've just watched the first episode so far, I didn't even know they had a woodstock99! Looked absolutely dreadful right from the start!

Depressing venue (a large ex military compound)

Awful headline bands (American music was terrible at that point)

Crowd mainly just of spoilt white "frat boys & girls"

Antisocial drugs (gone was the natural mild weed and mushrooms of the 60s, replaced by chemically produced pills and powders)

Completely over commercialised  and expensive

40° heat and no free water...

Not the best recipe!!

Enjoying this one, bit hard to follow at times i thought, but a really top class whodunnit! In a more unique setting than you normally see on these shows.

Also got through the briliant "we own this city" last week, another top class brilliantly written and acted show. Jon Bernthal did an amazing job playing one of the most horrible characters around yet still kind of leaving you feeling sorry for him a bit!

I turn channel 5 on at 10pm to watch The Enforcer only to discover its been replaced by a shitty Mel Gibson comedy, also channel 4 swapped a  edgy late film for a stupid romcom, why does the Queen dying mean we aren't allowed to watch good films and have to put up with shite nobody wants to watch.

HOUSE OF THE DRAGON

It's great to be back in Westeros!

What’s your opinion on it so far Mike? I was expecting to hate it but I’ve been surprised at how excellent it has been. Darker and with less humour than thrones, and the narrower focus on one dynasty is a welcome change. my favourite parts of thrones were the tight plotting and the scheming and machinations of the central cast. So far that’s been the focus of HoTD and I’ve loved it.

Also started the lord of the rings prequel but got bored after the first two episodes. Visually stunning but it suffers in comparison to thrones - it’s a bit twee and po-faced, and everyone takes themselves very seriously.
