tony gale's mic Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 David Moyes was viewed in a similar vein when promoted from coach to manager, doesn't always work out badly TGM. Totally, totally different situation. As Matty said, PNE were in what is now League One. There weren't the massive disparities financially between the teams and it was at a much lower level so he started off by pitting his wits against either managers who weren't experienced or managers who weren't quite as good. That's how managers learn. The Rovers job on the other hand was arguably one of the toughest in English football. A club with small gates compared to the rest of the league, little in the way of cash available and not the best squad on paper, but who through good management had remained a top 10 club for four out of the last five seasons. And yet we appointed a total novice. There's a reason why you see scores of lower league clubs making appointments like Steve Kean but hardly any Premier League clubs. Managing in the lower leagues doesn't require you to be as experienced or as talented. Comparing the appointment of Kean with the appointment of Moyes is naive at best.

1864roverite Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Just back from New York and managed to have a friend bring me out the Sunday People, the intention was to read about a fine Rovers away win, all puely based on Keans fine result against Arsenal and the pep talk through the weeks press. Kean you almost managed to make me spew out my bud light whilst having a lovely meal in Times Square you incompetent Scottish fool. I want this idiot out of our club NOW, Noddy and Big Ears could make a better fist of a game against a poor NUFC. Your a complete TO$$ER
T4E Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Kean you almost managed to make me spew out my bud light whilst having a lovely meal in Times Square. Where did you eat?
AllRoverAsia Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 The Bookies view on Kean: Doomed under Kean
roverandout Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 good article and hes spot on, to the people who voting 'give him more time'... why??? why??? WHY???
Mercer Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 The Bookies view on Kean: Doomed under Kean Spot on. I'd forward it to anyone at Ewood for whom you have an email address.
booth Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Avram Grant didn't get relegated grinning. Says a lot about our manager. He literally has nothing to lose, he takes us down he wins, he keeps us up he wins, he keeps his job he wins, he doesn't he wins.
bubblerrovers Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Can anyone see a situation where he may resign?? Venkys will not sack him simple as so this maybe our only hope. Maybe we should get a big blank book with the Title 'please Mr Kean resign' and get as many signatures as possible
Backroom Tom Posted September 27, 2011 Backroom Posted September 27, 2011 Where did you eat? Wherever it was in Times Square he got ripped off!
HemelRover Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 2. all fans who want him removing to remain seated at full-time and to saty for at least 20 minutes after the game calling for his head. I agree with the sentiment and if I could be there I would be, protesting against the fool. But, I think that is a terrible idea. However many people that do stay, even if there are a couple of thousand, will look a lot smaller and then insignificant, in comparison to the 25 odd thousand empty seats in the ground. It will be made worse as there will be pockets of protesters in each stand surrounded by big banks of empty seats.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Souness and Hughes on Sky commenting on City game......I look at who we have now and I feel like f'kin crying. OH! the memories of proper management and better times. P.S. Any demo needs to be outside the jack Walker stand players entrance after the game....in numbers.
bazza Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 If Kean is sacked and a new, proven premiership manager is appointed, shall we have a poll after every game the new man is in charge as to whether or not we keep or get rid? Just a thought.
chris Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 If Kean is sacked and a new, proven premiership manager is appointed, shall we have a poll after every game the new man is in charge as to whether or not we keep or get rid? Just a thought. I think you need to have the worse Blackburn Rovers managers record in our Premier League history to get that privilege. Might take them a while to qualify, but if they are really crap, I'm talking breaking poor results records, really unexperience, have never managed or have been sacked from their previous three jobs, maybe they will get polled in as little as 6 months.
John Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Come on chaps, let's stop the bickering and constant negativity. There are not many other teams around who have the spirit in the camp and togetherness, we will be fine....
John Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 The Bookies view on Kean: Doomed under Kean Would be amusing if it wasn't us. The joke has to stop soon surely - glad I am not going to Pune, reckon I would get done for assault....
jim mk2 Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Doomed under Kean Bang on the mark and said many times on here. Like Avram Grant, Kean is a dead man walking. And with Kean in charge, Rovers are dead in the water. Perhaps the Pune Poodles will speak up and inform the owners.
True Blue & White Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 If Kean is sacked and a new, proven premiership manager is appointed, shall we have a poll after every game the new man is in charge as to whether or not we keep or get rid? Just a thought. If said manager has the same record as Kean after 9 months in charge then yes. These polls didn't appear the day Kean took over you know.
winstonsmith Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 The Bookies view on Kean: Doomed under Kean The author of that article on Betfair gives a perfect description of the smug little smile which Kean uses when interviewed - 'When he's not looking confused on the touchline, Kean wears what's known..as a 'sh*t-eating grin'. Not being familiar with this expression, I looked up 'sh*t-eating grin' in Your Dictionary where it is defined as a cocky or self-satisfied smile, usually after a person got away with something. An example of a sh*t-eating grin is the smile a person has after everyone believed a lie he told. That's Kean to a T.
Tony Diamond Inc Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 But PNE were in the third divison at the time GAV, he learnt his trade in the lower reaches like potential managers have done since year dot. Dalglish?
tony gale's mic Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Dalglish? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boot_Room
Roost Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Come on chaps, let's stop the bickering and constant negativity. There are not many other teams around who have the spirit in the camp and togetherness, we will be fine.... John, I am not sure we have the team spirit that people think we have. Sambas article in the LET yesterday doesn't allude to that at all, he just stated the obvious and that just doesn't wash with me. We have gaping holes everywhere and one of the biggest is in the lack of leadership. We are in big trouble, real big trouble.
Backroom DE. Posted September 28, 2011 Backroom Posted September 28, 2011 I thought John was being sarcastic to be honest...
1864roverite Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Where did you eat? OLunneys Irish bar fantastic meal
glen9mullan Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 The way I see things presently, Steve Kean needs removing like yesterday. The longer he remains in charge the closer to the trap door Rovers will get. At present we can bring any sort of Manager in who is experienced within the Premier League and get ourselves out of the mess we are in. We have some good players, we just need a Manager now who can fit them into a proven system. However if Steve Kean is given any more time we are going to need a different type of Manager, and the type we will need is in short supply. This type of Manager will need survival experience, be able to work with young inexperienced players, and be able to get them to roll their sleeves up and scrap for every ball. When Ince was sacked it was nearly mission impossible, If we had brought anyone in bar Sam Allardyce, the likelyhood is, We would already be playing our football in the Championship. We are only in Septemeber and a new guy can now come in and have 31-32 games to shape our season. Our season can be one of success, but the longer we wait, the more likely we will find ourlseves in another relegation battle. If we replace Kean NOW, the list of takers will be vast, and the quality will also be in abundance. If we wait until its another mission impossible, Then the list will still be vast, but the options of finding the right man for the job will be slim. Anyone who thinks Steve Kean should be given more time fall into three categories . They won't admit they was wrong, so are voting for him to stay, Or They seriously know nothing about football, or they don't really care.
