While we continue to ship poor goals by failing to deal with mediocre balls into the box we'll continue to struggle.

The Dann Hanley partnership has a lot to answer for. Neither lead by example and neither dominate their opponent, especially in the air. If we're ever to progress again, one or both need to be replaced.

I thought Hanley looked grossly overweight too although I didn't think he was that bad overall.

We had a clear gameplan unlike under Appleton, the midfield looked good and controlled the game, in particular Williamson.

Jones and Williamson both split off Lowe and that gave them the freedom to run forward a bit, I would like them to get even further forward to support Rhodes.

In the first half I felt Rhodes did well at times to lay off King and Dunn and made some good runs but both King and Dunn were very wasteful; Dunn was far too greedy and although King has good pace, his decision making is woeful. I would bring in Kazim.

I also thought Kane was good but Morris was appalling.

Interesting - I thought Morris was ok. Jones was appalling earlier in the game - but did improve. King - some much pace - so little else. Dunn - thought he was one of our better players. Lowe - one of his better games.

What was nice - was seeing the full backs bombing on after the defensive displays under MA.

Overall a draw was a fair result - but we missed chances early in the second half that could have seen us win at a canter - but after they scored I feared we would lose.

Overall I was pleased - more to be optimistic about than for a long time - to be honest I could actually see us getting a result against Cardiff - which I doubt we would under MA.

Get rid of Dann easy answer.

I think Dunn showed today why talk of offering him a new one year deal is folly.

He huffed and puffed and ultimately blew himself out.

Good player, heart in BRFC but his legs will no longer carry his... muscular frame.

Dunn looked like the Dunn we expect of the last few years and not the dingle destroyer variant

Not true. I watched that at the time. He wasn't escorted out if the ground, he was moved from the back nearest the Rovers fans to the front row.

wat a stupid post.

Dann n Hanley partnership is solid and improving game by game.

Lowe was the man marking McKenzie who scored today but was clearly Fouled.

so how is that Dann or Hanley fault!!!!!!!!!!

Chaddy, my dear fellow, think Millwall (free header), think Burnley home and away ( free headers), think Peterborough home, 3 soft goals conceded.

Dann and Hanley are not dominant, cannot pass out of defence, fold under pressure, aren't mobile, do not lead and have been directly responsible for many of the soft goals we've conceded this year.

Now, I've given a reasoned argument with instances to back it up, you counter that it's a 'stupid post' and that Hanley and Dann are 'improving by the game' yet our slide down the table and winless streak continues.

If that's stupid, I'll stay daft thanks.

Obviously it is all about opinions - but I thought over the 90 minutes we edged it, but nearly paid for not taking our chances. Don't think the pitch helped either team - but for the first time in a while we actually saw some decent attacking moves.

Didn't see the foul on Lowe - but (from where I was sitting) Ince seemed to handle the ball in the play leading up to the goal - very similar to the CKR handle ball which the referee saw and led to the passage of play when they eventually scored.

Considering it was a makeshift team with no recognised left backs and half of the team not match fit due to injuries, I thought a point was good but should really of been three.Plus points were defence and special praise for Morris who looked comfortable against Phillips but man ofatch for me was a toss between Lowe and Williamson.Massive point and credit to the crowd who turned up for one reason.. To support their team and leave politics at home on their lap tops etc.

Pretty much how I saw it. First half we were poor but held out. Second half improved.

It was still better than what we've watched under Appleton in my opinion.

Pretty how I would have expected us to have performed if MA had been around in my opinion. Nothing to suggest that MA not being in charged made an appreciable difference. Also thought his midfield signings were the main reason we looked solid centrally, often leading Blackpool to feed the ball out wide where Kane had a very impressive game.

The best feature of the match for me was how Rovers actually improved overall as the game went on.

And given that our last game seems a lifetime ago, given the whole background, media coverage, club politics, I think the players should be given credit for keeping their focus. It wouldn't have been a massive surprise if they had given a half-arsed performance. No-one went hiding and even those who were struggling at times - Dunny's touch in the last ten before he was replaced looked as knackered as any I have seen - they did put the effort in.

That said, for those who weren't there, this Blackpool team were as poor as Bristol City a few months ago. Greater tests await.

BOWYER - ROVERS BRUSHED OFF SACKING

By Dominic Farrell, Press Association Sport

Caretaker manager Gary Bowyer praised Blackburn's players for putting Michael Appleton's shock sacking behind them to earn a battling 1-1 npower Championship draw with Blackpool.

Appleton, who cut short a similarly brief stint in charge of the Seasiders to take over at Ewood Park in January, was sacked 15 games and 67 days into his Rovers tenure last week.

The 37-year-old's dismissal came two days after David Dunn's equaliser deep into stoppage time rescued a point against neighbours Burnley.

Top scorer Jordan Rhodes was Rovers' hero in this all-Lancashire clash - the Scotland international's 24th goal of the season and 22nd since arriving from Huddersfield in August ensuring both teams edged five points clear of the relegation zone after Gary MacKenzie gave Blackpool a 64th-minute lead.

The result meant Bowyer retained his unbeaten record in charge of Rovers - he oversaw three defeats and a draw in the four games between Henning Berg's and Appleton's troubled reigns at a club flailing under the whims of controversial owners Venky's - and he revealed his squad found this latest round of managerial upheaval hard to take.

``There's a lot of respect there for Michael Appleton and it was a decision that shocked the players,'' he said. ``To their credit they got on with their work and had a right good go.

``I thought we started nervously which was to be expected a little bit with what's gone off at the football club, but once they settled down they showed a good composure to make some passes.''

Bowyer felt Rovers should have been comfortable after watching David Jones and Josh King spurn glorious chances ahead of MacKenzie's opener.

He was also aggrieved with the officials, claiming midfielder Jason Lowe was fouled in the melee leading to Blackpool's goal before pointing to a late push on substitute Colin Kazim-Richards inside the visitor's penalty area.

``At the start of the second half we asked them to take a bit more care and be even braver with the ball,'' he added. ``I thought we were and we created two great chances that we should have converted, but it was good play.

``It's a bit of a sucker punch when they go and score - I've seen it on the video and it's a foul on Jason Lowe, so we're a bit disappointed about that.

``Full credit to the players, the way they responded was magnificent. They could have felt sorry for themselves but they didn't. We're fortunate to have Jordan, who's scored as many goals as he has this season.

``I thought we had a nailed-on penalty - I can't see how he (referee Mick Russell) has not given it, he's only five yards away.''

Blackpool boss Paul Ince could also curse his luck after Rovers goalkeeper Jake Kean thwarted Tom Ince and substitute Nathan Delfouneso in the closing minutes.

But the former Rovers manager accepted a draw was a fair reflection on his return to Ewood and criticised his team for going into their shells after taking the lead.

``It's a fair result,'' he said. ``The first half was poor really, the players got involved in the occasion rather than actually playing the game - it was all about headers and tackles and getting knockdowns.

``Second half they've had two good chances and Gary will be disappointed for one of them not to go in.

``Once we got the goal I was thinking we were going to go on and win it comfortably.

``Instead of staying on the front foot, which got us the goal in the first place, we started defending deeper and deeper.

``It's okay if it's the last couple of minutes of the game but we started to go deep as soon as we scored the goal in the 64th minute. You can't do that and we got punished for it.

``We've had two great chances in the last five minutes - the keeper makes a great save from Thomas.

``If Nathan's is anywhere in the corners or anywhere down it's a goal.''

Bowyer said on Radio Rovers it was a foul on lowe and we should have had a pen when Kaz was pushed in the back.

we defo edge it.

First half both teams didnt do much.

Second half we should have scored before they did.

Ince and Philips werent in the game. kane and morris did excellent against them.
