You’re telling me in the 5/6 appearances from the bench so far you haven’t seen any potential? He looks a both footed livewire to me - a player who can run at defences with ease. Lots more to prove though eh!

he had major impact when we got a win and draw against QPR and Rotherham

Forget the price. He’s the youngest and newest member of this squad. It’s exciting to have the luxury of his potential but let’s not let his price determine his usage.

Many peoples argument was that it was a luxury that we couldnt afford, baring in mind imbalances in the squad elsewhere.

Its impossible to forget the price when judging him.

I don’t get how adding an u19 striker to a position we needed depth is “a luxury we can’t afford”?

I’d need to assume that B.B. earns a lot and we’ve actually paid most or all or the 7m, and that the quality winger and centre back on modest wages we could’ve had went ignored!

Reality is that neither you nor me knows the actual reality of Brerertons tranfer, we don’t know if money was available for “Grabban” esq wages and we certainly don’t know if there’s anything left to improve in January.

So assuming we spent 7m upfront, he’s on mega wages and we let Bauer et al go to sign him instead, I agree with you...!

Mm, what Danny Graham did today was what I consider a major impact.

3 tap in goals.

Didn't Brereton win the penalty from which Dack scored from even tho he wanted it and Did he not pass the ball for Dack against Rotherham.

did you not see him wanting the ball played in, in the last minute and then he had a chance to score today? plenty of desire

I don't think Rovers would play those sorted of wages anymore.  players have to fit into the club wage structure

I cant believe you are deriding Graham for the type of hat trick goals he got.

He was outstanding in general as he has been almost all season. More goals is what he was missing.

To be fair, Chaddy has been pretty consistent when it comes to Graham. I don’t agree with him but at least he is staying true to his opinion.

I havent deriding anything. Graham's goals were tap ins. Thats FACT!!! Good strikers always in the right place.

Stop with point scoring comments and trying to impress your fanclub.

I loved Graham a player but he is getting older. But he was excellent today

You said it in response to someone claiming he had a major impact. The only really way that could be interpreted is downplaying his hat trick.

Graham has been excellent for most of the season, hes ahead of Brereton on merit but Brereton should be solid second choice, no more faffing around with midfielders there.

Grahams intelligence makes his partnership with Dack a dream.

That's an embarrassing response.

He is on the periphery. I’d be more concerned if we’d shelled out that “alleged” cost for him to be in the same spot as Davenport (also 19!)

Davenport hasn't been available. He has just been injured. A 7 million pound player not being deemed good enough to start or get much game time in his favoured position even when no other specialists there are fit, for a few months is, to me, more worrying than a 7 million pound player (though Dav only cost 500k) being injured for a few months who may (or may not) be completely over that going forward.

It seems a strange comparison to make in the first place, since the fees and circumstances are entirely different. Personally, I'm worried that Brereton has been available 100% of the time, shown glimmers, and for some reason is reduced to 5 minute cameos at home in a second half where we were mostly ahead by 2 goals.

The comparison is they’re the same age! Both 19 year old and new signings. The expectation on ones shoulders is completely different due to cost.

Not that I’m saying Brererton wasn’t expected to be a bit more “ready”- Davenport has also quite a few appearances in the championship too.

Well I know they're the same age. Surely we need a bit more than that to make a meaningful comparison? If we pretend Davenport cost 7 million, I'd still be thinking we will see what he has when he recovers. I wouldn't (and don't) hold the manager responsible for the injury problems. But in Breteton we have a player who is always available but can only get a cameo in the wrong position despite showing promise. Even when all the others in his position are out. Even when we are on a very poor run. That concerns me more as it suggests the manager doesn't rate him in his natural position.

I’d much rather we fit him around how we intend to play, rather than including another striker and changing the system, on the sole basis he had to play him because we paid 7m for him!

I think many believe we could’ve spent 7m upfront or signed a couple of players on 25/30k a week in other positions, thus sitting B.B. on the bench is effectively parking that investment... well thing is I’m yet to read that he is a top earner, and I doubt that we’ve spent anywhere near that upfront.

The comparison on Jacob D was just age/experience. I imagine if Davenport hadn’t had a few bad injuries prior to joining us, he might’ve been more than 500k. Next youngest in the regular first 18, Nyambe - is 20. For anyone who thinks 7m could’ve been invested in two or three players, how much would you take for Nyambe?

I also think it’s a bit soon to be saying the manager “doesn’t rate him in his natural position”.

These kind of conclusions are insanely premature. I think if he “didn’t rate him” in anyway, he’d be turning out for Forest u23s.

Who’s collecting the points and for what purpose?

The bloke scored 3 goals and set up the other and generally gave a fantastic centre forward performance. ‘3 tap ins’, for a guy that supposedly watches a lot of football is an amazing statement to make.
