I dont think anyone has said that Dolan is likely to do well in Spain. Or certainly didnt when he joined.

But he certainly has already proven wrong anybnaysayers who had him down for a Nyambe esque League 1 spell and felt like he had allowed his and his agents egos to get in the way of the correct career move. Its a fantastic move for him.

Dolan has fantastic feet when on the ball and can bamboozle most defenders.

Being a deceptively slow runner will always limit him.

Problem at Rovers was his lack of a football brain in reading the game or seizing those split second opportunities his skilful manipulation of the ball regularly present which I think is why the Dolan detractors find so frustrating and decry him as a footballer.

It could be good coaching and a different style of league could sort out the head stuff for Dolan.

We were worthy winners against Elche in their backyard a month ago and Espanyol are very much the same level of outfit.

I think Dolan has a decent chance of winning and holding a starting place in Barcelona.

If we're comparing Dolan and Buckley, as someone else pointed out a while ago, in early 2020 Dolan was out on loan at Clitheroe and now he's playing in La Liga, so whatever the experts on here who think he's "an instagrammable Ryan Hedges" might say, he must be doing something right.

Buckley on the other hand was apparently seen within the Club at one time as our "next £10m player" and bagged himself a bumper five year deal off Broughton since which time he's disappeared off the face of the earth.

Buckley is probably also the more naturally talented of the two but just looks like he doesn't enjoy playing professional football. I really can't understand how Dolan, whose attitude was always exemplary, and who has made the absolute most of his abilities, cops so much flak whereas Buckley who appears to have completely wasted his, gets relatively little.

Don't know if it's the same everywhere but in this Country, instead of trying to make things happen,  everyone is absolutely obsessed with possession stats and not giving the ball away or "turning over possession" as is the modern lingo.

Maybe if Dolan is encouraged to take his man on a bit more over there and/or cross whenever he gets an opportunity we might see an even more effective player than we had here.

Starting here for Espanyol if anyone cares its on premier sports 2, 8 mins in. Gonna give it a watch.

Watching too.

How the hell did he get away without a card for that tackle.

Launched himself full weight onto the blokes ankle.

Got away with one there.

He's struggled to see much of the ball this first half hour.

Yeah you could tell on his face he knew he'd dropped a bollock. Very poor game and they should be behind.

I wish him well and all that but I couldn't sit through an Espanol game just to see how he's going on.

Kudos to you guys for sticking it out.

If I don't watch it, how can I prove other posters wrong. 😃

He just did a lovely back heel flick in build up to the opening goal.

The type of skill I barely remember coming off for him in a Rovers shirt. Would have tripped and fell over for us.

I'm a football nerd, I've worked today from home and had games on from 8am onwards 🙃 Inter Milan on now.

I think Buckley is easier to like for a particular sort of person (including me) in that he's not a typical modern footballer. He's unpredictable, highly talented and skilled in a way that you often have a hard time wrapping your head around, but also uneven and seemingly a bit lazy or dispassionate. Modern football is becoming more and more uniform by the year with players seeming more and more like robots, and Buckley stood against that.

Currently the best English winger by goals and assists in Catalonia

And another, classic drawing of a foul in the penalty box 🙃

It's a shame that Alan Pace has bought Espanyol because I've become quite fond of them since Dolan has gone there.

Watched every minute he's played and in the main he's been brilliant.

MOTM tonight I believe, 1 assist and won a penalty to win the game.

It seems he has fast become a fan favourite over there and is now nicknamed Dolandinho 🤣

Now joint 2nd in the league with Barcelona and a chance to go top of the league at the weekend when they go away to the Bernabeu to play Real Madrid.

The penalty give away is Sunday league stuff. He wasn't even on the ball.... I had no idea La Liga was this poor. 9 mins in for those that want to see.

Another shambolic disgrace that he was allowed to leave on a free.

Yes he had his detractors and he's very hot and cold. But madness to let him go on a free

I think this summer showed any wiff of a couple of million would have seen a player off, in their last year. I just don't think a bid came, teams were happy to wait for a free and we were worryingly happy to offer below the going rate for a championship contract.

Imagine being Dolan.

Five years ago, let go by Preston.

Next week he’ll line up at the Bernabeu.

How can anyone begrudge him living the dream like that?

Go on, lad.

Slim chance of a WC place too potentially?

Couple of injuries to England's wingers and Dolan flying in La Liga you just never know! (I know, only 4 games in!)

It's such a strong position. He'd need about 20 players to get injured to even make the conversation.

(he's also not good enough)

His biggest critics don't even go to games!

Dolan was the one player in our squad that got you out of your seat at times with his attacking flair, I loved watching him. He was inconsistent, thats why he was playing in the Championship, if he was consistent, he'd be in the Prem.

He was a good lad too, despite some on here trying to soil his name and I hope he goes on to bigger and better things, he deserves it.
