If we’re keeping Gallagher JDT should demand he uses at least two weeks, ten hours a day, where the only thing he does is to learn how to receive the ball and keep at your feet. Next two weeks - head the ball in the wanted direction. Then repeat the bit about making a pass stick. Then use two weeks with instructions to shoot and miss the goal…some of them might even go in?

Now repeat ad nasuem untill the end of the season and give a few games with his newfound ability. Might help us getting something for him rather than paying someone to get him off our books.

Another gift from Mowbray - knowing that he was leaving he extended Gallagher's contract. He'll be on good money and we can't shift him on.

Rovers need to keep the ball and use our movement and increase the tempo. We created 2 good opportunities so far. Surprised Dack didn't go for the far post with glancing header or Hedges didn't lift the ball over the keeper. Dack and Morton playing well. Gallagher has been very poor and doesn't look fit. His touch for the one on one was poor to say the least

Dolan and Markanday will be needed in the second half for me.

Still think we will win this now.

Another half where I'm asking whyself how poor was the football played.. we just don't play good football at all!

Gallagher needs subbing, get markandy and dolan on, inject a bit of pace and trickery.

Desperately need signings, anyone with eyes can see we are crying out for a goalscoring forward and a beast in CM, maybe even Lwb

It is like watching paint dry ...

we are creating chances by keeping the ball. Clearly you don't the style of play JDT wants Rovers to play with and would prefer someone who plays more direct style which suits Rotherham players tbh.

Do you honestly believe Gallagher offers physicality? (assuming you don’t mean Vale).

He’s as soft as putty, can’t hold up play or control a ball. Offers absolute 0 physicality.

At least Dolan will run his legs into the ground putting pressure on them.

As usual, under the JDT model, getting the ball into the box and creating chances is optional, and certainly not a priority, so JDT a happy man.

It's soooo 20th century to make scoring and winning your premier objective.

Sigh...

We didn't create any chances?

Sorry, but this is just embarrassing. It's not that we're playing badly, but the way these lads fall apart in front of goal when we go behind is really unacceptable. If JDT can't change this issue in mentality he's going to have to move most of them on and start from scratch. It can't continue on like this. Some very strong words needed at HT. Lose this one and our entire forward line need to have their cards marked. Our inability to come from behind has been going on for too long now, across two separate managers. We've had plenty of chances in previous matches where we've been behind, and today, and the forwards just repeatedly fail to do the absolute basics. What else can you ascribe it to, beyond a poor mentality? Keep in mind that as good as Dack and Brereton have been for us at times, they've also consistently featured in a Rovers team that has proven itself incapable of coming back from going behind for, what, 4 years now? It's gone past the point where you can just call it bad luck.

A big second half coming up. Lose this one and JDT should realise, if he hasn't already, that these players can't be relied upon when things get tough. The question for him and GB will then be how they move some of these lads on, and who they can get in budget-wise to replace them. Not an easy task, but lose today and it's clear to me that it needs to be done. Enough is enough. I really hope we do pull it out of the bag in the second half and show that a huge overhaul is not needed, but right now I'm very sceptical.

need to play and pass sharper, there is an acre of space down their right every time we go forward

gally would get another 10 minutes,if he does`nt improve give him the hook and move hedges into the middle, vale is invisible,he`s got to go off,on the whole though, this team shape does`nt create much pressure on the opposition,we are to easy to defend against, everything is in front

HT Summary

I think we’ve played well, apart from in the final third. Dack’s roaming around in a free role, dictating the play. It’s a lot more pleasing to watch than the laboured dross we usually serve up. Questions need to be asked about Gally though- he’s been poor.

Plenty of the ball, but it seems the tactic is ‘get it to Dack and hope he produces magic’.

Problem with that is, most of the team are not on his wavelength or ability level.

I do like Gallagher in general, but he’s been woeful today. Heavier touch than usual and should have buried the 1-on-1.

Just bite the bullet, stick Dolan and Markanday on at HT; 3 points is right there for us in this game, Rotherham offer nothing.
