Don't know if the words "world class" were used but it was obvious he was really special. Never seen a debut like it. 8 Quote
den Posted Friday at 08:23 Posted Friday at 08:23 Some people could see just how talented he was and how special he was. Some people could see just how he stood out from even the best youngsters we’ve had over 60+ years. Some people thought he was a very good player. 6 Quote

It was the quality of his passing that stood out for me. A lot of one touch stuff that meant he was very rarely caught in possession. Always where the player receiving the ball wanted it. Always with just the right amount of pace on the ball. He was Tugayesque and still a teenager. As you say even the dogs in the street could see he was special talent. Anybody who thought Lowe was a footballer disqualified themselves from making a comment on Wharton. The first time I saw him play I was genuinely shocked. What did he bring to the game ? He could run a bit, tackle a bit, pass it 10 yards to a team mate, head it bit. Was he a game changer like Wharton is ? Never in a million years. 8 Quote
Popular Post arbitro Posted Friday at 08:34 Popular Post Posted Friday at 08:34 I first saw him at 17 and he had the 'wow' factor. He was one move ahead of the other players and more often than not knew where his next pass was going before he got the ball. His head swivels constantly. I'm proud of his Rovers connection but disgusted at the way he was sacrificed because of the owners misdemenours. And add the insulting remarks by Pasha which compounded another sorry tale in the history of the last decade and a half. 21 Quote

He can split a defence with one touch from deep midfield. Not many can do that. 4 Quote
Bronzed A Donis Posted Friday at 09:18 Posted Friday at 09:18 I can only think Palace have asked for him not to be selected for these friendlies. 2 Quote

The only reason some people thought Adam was casual or wasteful was because he was streets ahead in terms of knowing where the ball should go and players should be compared to his teammates. I sometimes wonder if some scouts wouldn't commit to him because they didn't recognise that. 1 Quote
roverandout Posted Friday at 09:51 Posted Friday at 09:51 Loftus-Cheek and Henderson in but Wharton not lol. I give up with Tuchel’s selections Quote

I know how you felt with how the whole transfer was handled Tony and fully agree. It is about as shocking as it gets, how we threw this away and how we treated not only a superb talent, but a Rovers fan and from a Rovers supporting family. One other huge thing to say, not the slightest sign of him refusing to sign a contract, like many before him. That ensured Rovers at least got something for him, despite it being the steal of the century for Palace. The fans and the Wharton family did not deserve to be let down like this and Pasha should have been immediately handed his notice, with the comments he made in the fans forum. No wonder he wanted the real version of the minutes hidden. Edited Friday at 11:13 by lraC Typo 12 Quote

GM – Stated Jones had been part of an instrumental time at the club with key players coming through the academy, notably Adam Wharton who was sold for what appears to be below market value to pay bills, with no reinvestment into the squad with those funds. SS- Stated that no one knew Wharton would be a good player at youth level whilst AO Stated no one pays more for a championship player, GM – Gave the recent £40m plus addons sale of Jobe Bellingham as a rebuttal, whilst refuting SS Claim on Wharton who had been the worse kept secret in years as a player very much expected to progress to the first team since during the emergence of his brother. AO Acknowledged, other championship players have gone for much more money than the previous suggestion of Wharton’s value being market value. 2 Quote

Tugayisgod Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) It was obvious looking at him in the u21s he was special and only a matter of time before he got his chance in the 1st team. Had that great debut at Blackpool with Don Goodman singing his praises, but did occasionally get caught in possession due to the difference in speed at 1st team football in a few games. However, he soon learned, and would zip the ball off quicker and so rarely now gets caught out. Just a top top player that I love watching, and not just because of his Rovers roots Edited 2 hours ago by Tugayisgod Quote
superniko Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) re: Tuchel, it's frustrating, but he picked him last time and he withdrew with an injury. I suspect this time, it's a case of player/club asking not to pick him, so he can recover fully with a break. I'd be amazed if he didn't pick Wharton in the team, let alone the squad once we he's fully fit. Edited 1 hour ago by superniko 1 Quote

If we are, where I think we'll be by the time venkys have finished us off, Wharton will be able to get a game here when he's in his 50's. Quote
roverandout Posted 7 minutes ago Posted 7 minutes ago I get the impression from a few quotes from Wharton that he's not that fussed about paying for England Quote
