The number 10 position is the hard one. You keep saying team first as if I am proposing to shoe horn loads of players in unfamiliar positions when not one of the players I propose is out of position. Its between Bellingham, Foden and Palmer and would likely be one of the first 2. As it stands, I would say Foden but flip of a coin.

Pickford / James Stones Guehi OReilly / Rice Wharton / Saka Foden Rashford / Kane

Now I dont see what about that team is imbalanced.

Finally answer a simple question. 

Cos Foden isn't going to run beyond Kane like Rogers or Bellingham would.

We're not the Judean People's Front, we're the People's Front of Judea.

They're different types of player so its fairly pointless comparing them like for like. All players have slightly different attributes. If you ran a poll I reckon 90% of neutral fans would say Wharton was the better player and arguably Anderson only got into the side in the first place because Wharton was injured.

On the other hand - you can't blame Tuchel for not changing something which is currently working. I do have full confidence in him where the opposite was true under Southgate.

Anderson might get injured at some point though and/or Tuchel might change things round slightly and/or there may come a time in the Tournament  against better opposition where Wharton's unique talents are required.

We'll have to wait and see.

Are those stats you showed for Anderson which made you conclude that he has been the best midfielder in the league, comparisons against other Forest players or against midfielders across the league? Or do you not know?

How did he manage to score 27 in all comps for City season before last then? Im sure they weren't all 30 yard screamers.

It's a matter of personal preference really. Myself, I can't get my head round any manager picking a team without Foden in it.

However I'm getting a very 1966 vibe off Tuchel. Sir Alf chose a system and picked the 11 players who best suited playing to that system rather than necessarily picking the best 11 players in their individual positions and then choosing a style of play to suit them.

Why are you assuming that any Wharton income would benefit the squad in any way?

I couldnt tell you the exact point but I believe that similar questions have been asked in the past (perhaps the Raya %) and its been said that such money is used to pay bills.

The money wont be spent on new signings.

Fair enough. Either way, those stats do not make Anderson objectively the best midfielder in the league.

Hes a good player but I think Wharton is better (not loads in it) and also more naturally suited to playing that role which is available sitting next to Rice.

Anderson can do both sided of the game as the 6 and that's what we need. I leave it there cos its like banging your head against a brick hole with you

I think rogers has all the tools to be a top player.  He's strong technically gifted got a good football brain. He'd be good to have off the bench. I'd still start Bellingham at the world cup though
