‘Only have 8,000 ST holders, good thing the club transitions away from a Cat 1 academy as it costs £2million’.

Why do I get the feeling this isn't just talking about the women's team.

Maybe it's just me but it's hard to consider a club "competitive" as a fan or a player if they have just chosen to be relegated.

Who would want to be part of a team that could never be promoted because they don't want to invest in success?

Quote from the Rovers News release - This decision follows a comprehensive review of the evolving demands placed on second tier clubs, which have become unsustainable under our current model...

Presumably this means 'Run by utter gobshites?'

An out and out disgrace but entirely within character for this absolute shit bag two bit brainless untalented feckless piss pot amateurish nouveau richest ham-fisted uncaring unloved ownership We've laboured under for almost fifteen years.

I wish a pox on them, their wives, their kids, I hope they shit pineapples every day for the rest of their no good oxygen draining lives. I hope their long dead ancestors return from their graves and shit in their dinner.

How much longer must we endure this agony

Club shop in town centre costs too much - shut it down

Matchday programme costs too much - get rid

Home fans in Darwen End / BBE upper tier - close them down

Radio Rovers / Rovervision cost too much - shut down

Academy and Brockhall sites cost too much - attempt to shut down but can't be done easily / on the cheap and too much red tape to deal with so leave for now

Ewood shop / Blues Bar - start to shut down, reduced opening days and times and doing their utmost to discourage people from going with incentives to stay away from the Ewood site

I've probably missed a few

Women's team - costing too much - what happens next?

Why stop there? Mens and reserve/youth teams don't make money either. Any reason for keeping those going? It isn't to benefit the town or fanbase that's for sure or they'd make some effort with it.

Great post! This all begs the ultimate question ‘why bother owning a football club in the first place?’. Roundly hated by all and disinterested in football/the club/the town. It makes no sense.

Managed to get a dig at the fans in there…

‘Regrettably, despite all Rovers Women’s league fixtures being played at Ewood Park last season for the first time, there was no noticeable upturn in home attendances, resulting in the absence of the substantial matchday commercial revenue and sponsorships required to support continued investment at Tier 2’

Halfway up the PL when they took over. As others have said they’ve either cut, or tried to cut every asset of the club. Someone tell me what hasn’t been cut?

No money available for anything. No ambition. No honesty about anything whatsoever. There’s only one possible worse situation that I can think of. Liquidation.

It’s so easy to go down divisions in sport, yet brutally hard to go back upwards.

Rovers Women’s team have gone back a generation today. No matter what you think of women’s football, it’s a bad look and a narrow minded, short term decision.

Another tremendously embarrassing day for our once proud football club.

you can only keep treading water, football wise, for so long, eventually the descent down the leagues will happen,it`s only the good luck of appointing 3 decent managers that`s kept us in the division, two of whom legged it when they saw the medium term situation before them

Can I just check, do Venkys still 'never refuse to sign a cheque' or have we given up on that one at last?

I can only conclude this was always a calculated misdirection based on the literal meaning. Of course they don't refuse to sign a cheque, because they realistically would never be asked to.

I just made the mistake of reading some of the comments on the Facebook post. Is it just me, failing to see that this is an inevitable and sound business decision with only positive implications for the men's team? Im really sorry that I'm not quite getting it.

Good. The headline on a couple of sites about this being about the owners refusing to fund is refreshing and encouraging. These are billionaires, with nothing stopping them from covering relatively small costs. If they can't or won't do that, they have no chance at all of keeping this business going eventually. I'm glad they are being shamed in this way and suspect it is our best chance of being rid of them. Obviously awful for all those caught in the crossfire though and make no mistake - this is all on the Raos.

"The growing financial and operational constraints tied to tier two status, including the requirement to move to a fully professional model, have reached a point where they can no longer be sustained under the club's current financial framework.

The optics on this are very bad. In total contrast to the rest of Women and Girls football. A multi million pound operation, but can't find a way to fund this.
