The general opinion iv'e seen from Palace comments is he's a steel at that money and they should go to 20 pluss add ons and beyond.

A lot of excitement from them because they've been crying out for Hodgson to sign young talent.

I would love to know which specific events of the last 13 years are leading people to conclude that selling Adam Wharton would allow us to strengthen multiple areas of the squad and mount a promotion push.

People getting all excited at the prospect of a fee that’s dwarfed by the amount Venky’s have had to set aside in order to guarantee monies they are sending us to keep the lights on. Swapping our best player, who has a genuine chance of becoming an England regular, for a few months worth of wages for his inferior teammates who will likely fail to keep us in the Championship.

It would definitely make a statement - that we have given up anything resembling ambition or a plan. Being a feeder club to the likes of Crystal Palace is a disgraceful position for Blackburn Rovers to find ourselves in.

Lets hope the stat obsessed football manager enthusiasts are left heartbroken and it’s all just paper talk/Nixon bollocks.

Just about sums it up perfectly. At one point the V's used to dig their feet in and hold out for decent fees, it has been just about their only redeeming feature although my stalker roverfan99 may disagree.

We'll soon see if that's still the case or whether it's no (un) reasonable offer refused.

I'd be absolutely gutted if less than 6 months after becoming a regular, he leaves and for £15m.

I'd be gobsmacked if £5m of that was reinvested.

I would be gobsmacked if £5.00 was reinvested!

he might start regularly but he`s never going to win anything, never going to play european football and if palace have one bad summer in the transfer market will be fighting a relegation battle, especially if eze and olise get sold in the summer,i should have put better club rather than bigger tbh,it would be a bad move for him

What would then stop him making a move to a bigger club, having played in the Premier League already?

You think he'd be better sat on the bench (or worse not even that) at a bigger club?

Because the bigger clubs sign these kids, give them a few appearances then factory farm them out on loan back in the Championship.

Especially when Palace sell him for treble that when they go down. He won't go there surely when bigger clubs are interested?

By the looks of things it's Dolan rejecting our offers, so that tells you something. He'll be playing in the League One in a season or two if he doesn't stay here.

He'll be playing in league one if he stays too

This time last year I thought we were sat on £40million + of future transfer fees between Philips and Wharton what with new contracts and blooding youth in to the team.

Are we really looking at not breaking 20m for both?

I think the best approach would be to say you get 70% say of any fee received to reinvest, do as you wish, sell who you want, you know football more than us. Also a policy on players with a year to go. That way you always have scope to invest in the team.

Not, we will decide on fees, you wont see any of it, we will give you a few million randomly every few years but otherwise you are brassic and when we do accept bids you wont see any of it.

No player for over 2m in 5 years. 12m of fees down the drain which is more than our combined spend in that time.

Hard to get overly excited at a 20 year old from Crewe. However when you have to massively slash the wage budget and you cant sign players over a certain age, you get what you can, not what you need.

Seems highly rated and to be missed by Crewe fans from what ive read but they also seem unconvinced that he is Championship ready.

Our squad is still weaker compared to how we came into the window. If we sell Wharton then we will end up miles weaker.

four-and-a-half-year deal through to June 2028.

Let's hope we don't try to loan him out after 6m like the last 4yr deal.... 🙈

Think this lad will surprise a few. We had to send Wharton and Carter down the leagues for experience and they come back better players. Plenty of air ball in league 2, Hopefully give us some added height and aerial ability

Everyone against the prospect of selling Wharton because we wouldn’t reinvest the money is exactly the same talk when the prospect of selling Rothwell came up a couple of January’s ago. Same people then criticised the club for allowing players to walk away for nothing.

£15m is reasonable for Wharton and we clearly need the cash. Don’t want him to go and clearly we won’t reinvest all of it but if it gets us 2/3 proven Championship players, it’s probably too good to turn down.

They are different situations as Whartons value is going up, not about to turn to nil.

If he wants to go, then its difficult to keep him. The issue as ever is that we wont see the money unlike normal clubs.
