Just before JDT turned up after Broughton arrived the names being heavily linked were Carvalhal, Daniel Farke and Duncan Ferguson.

It was a really strange time as we had publicly stated we were looking to bring in a Director of Football but appeared to be pressing on with getting managers lined up before we'd appointed the DofF.

Then after a long delay they got Broughton in and within no time he'd got JDT in.

It looked chaotic and like we had no idea what we were doing.

It seems the presence of Johnson, Benson and previously Lowe were non-negotiables having been there throughout Mowbray, JDT, Eustace and now Ismael so yeah can see someone like Carvalhal who brings a  gang of staff with him as being a problem. Rather expensive but in our situation we should be paying to try and survive not avoiding decent options to save a few quid.

Told Big Dunc offered the gig and then Broughton arrived and offer withdrawn.

Not that it matters but any credence to this?

5 Rovers players led a changing room revolt against VI on Saturday which was headed up by Cantwell and Pickering.
The players were all called in to Brockhall by RG on Sunday and they told him to get rid of VI.
VI was brought in this morning to be told he was leaving.

Likely they have seen how well Derby are doing and fancy joining John.

No chance. Gestede is playing football manager down at Brockhall by swanning around the place in his fancy suit and 'Head of' title lording it over all the staff but he's still very much Pasha's puppet. Nothing of significance is going to happen without Pasha giving it the ok first.

“Nothing will happen to Ismael, he is doing the job as expected”….

Maybe Cantwell feeling guilty then…..

If he found it a pleasure he must enjoy losing every week then.

I'm really not interesting in hearing anything Cantwell has to say.

Having helped to get one Head Coach sacked Im sure it'll only be a few weeks before he's mouthing off on social media about how much more enjoyable it is under the new bloke.

Having looked at the list of candidates on oddschecker I have to say that most of them look completely unrealistic for varying reasons.

On there Wagner and Bilic were joint favourites at 5/2.

Of the slightly more realistic sounding  alternatives I'd go for Rowett or Bilic personally.

Cantwell can piss off too

Ne’er a truer word spoken. Worst captain in the history of the club.

I was underwhelmed when Ismael was appointed and am underwhelmed now that he's left.

He had a crap start, average middle, and crap end. His football was poor, but the tools he was given to to his job with were sub par. Losing half of last season's starting 11 and having to get a tune out of Gueye, De Neve, limited defenders, youth team prospects, and a talented but hard to fit in Cantwell would be hard for a much more talented manager than Ismael.

Until Venkys either sell up or realise that they have no clue what they are doing and decide to appoint competent people throughout the club more of the same will continue.

10/10

Only just caught up with this. Sacking the manager on transfer deadline day. Only this club. It must be an extremely rare occurrence, especially at this level, largely because it points to an utter lack of planning or structure behind the scenes.

I do wonder if the pelters Gestede and Pasha got after the Hull game spooked them into doing something to stem the rising tide of fury. If the fans at Ewood are starting to revolt then you really have screwed up.

Don't trust this lot to make a sensible appointment, but let's see. Difficult to imagine that they can do much worse. The squad remains a massive problem, but we just have to deal with it at this point.

The real problem (Venky's) remain regardless, and until they go we're just shuffling the deck chairs on the titanic.

Rowett lined up for the Leicester job. A former player and good record in avoiding relegation with Millwall, Brum and Oxford. Leicester will be terrified about the possibility of a 9 point deduction.

Jackson saying he's hearing its not going to be Bilic.

In the terse statement it doesn't mention anyone taking over in a caretaker capacity which is strange given we have a game tomorrow. My guess is that Ismael was actually relieved of his duties on Saturday and in the interim a new manager has agreed terms and will be announced soon.

Good to see you back on the forum.
