On a tangent, surely any of: Buckley, JRC or Garrett would be a better option than Foreshaw?

Talk of bombing one of those out for a 33 year old is ludicrous..

For what it's worth I used to hate Buckley, however last season in the couple of cameos he had I thought he looked okay, carried it, can ping a pass and likes a tackle.. Much rather keep Buckley than Foreshaw.

When Buckley first broke through I thought "God he's a poor athlete, but there's a football player in there".

Sadly he's never pushed on - unfortunately I don't think he's professional enough.Β

JRC is in a similar boat - poor athlete, good football player. He is professional enough, but unfortunately his body has let him down.

A ruthless manager / ambitious club would push them both out the door this summer. Especially if we want to employ a high tempo / high press.Β

Here we go, the perennial 'Buckley has something, if he could just....)

He never 'just' though does he that's why he's never even become a first team regular here under 3 different head coaches. Yes he is good back up but i doubt he wants to be 3rd or 4th choice and that doesn't help his attitude imo.

If he's happy to do that and try and force his way in fair enough but it's old hat now and probably best to part ways if we could squeeze a fee out of someone.

A fit and firing Buckley is an asset to the squad but a going through the motions one isn't, mind you if his contract is running down maybe there's a tune to be had out of him yet.

Buckley has had too many chances. He knows what VI expects and if he can get that intensity over pre season he could be a useful player. Even Cantwells work ethic upped a gear towards the end under VI. Sadly even then he won’t break the starting 11 and it’s down to him if he wants to be backup. Rovers better off trying to get a fee

I think Garrett and Buckley are done here. I'd throw JRC in as well but his versatility might just keep him about for a body in the squad.Β

Why is Garrett done here?Β

Buckley is a good technical player who has never figured out how to impose himself on a game. A real shame as talent wise hes got the ingredients but so easily gets passed by. Three Rovers managers and one at Sheffield Weds now have just not trusted him which speaks volumes. Eustace made him deputy captain to try and show faith but he had probably his worst season for us last year.

Theres no real reason to think he can turn it around which is sad to say.

He needs a loan where he actually gets some games but that seems hard to come by perhaps he should go to Barrow !

he could`nt get a game for two sides that were near the bottom of the lower divisions, thats a kind of a bigΒ  indication he is`nt good enough for the championship,a shame because when he first broke into our first team he was raw but looked a decent prospect, funny game football, sometimes a player will kick on other times they regress badly

Just my opinion based on the loan spells he's had last season. Neither of those loans could really be viewed as a success, if we are being honest.

For what it's worth (which isn't much), I wouldn't have an issue with him sticking around and seeing if he's up to it this season. I think he's contracted until 2027, so still in the clubs hands.

I think the club will look to loan him again though

Forshaw was actually pretty decent in the last third of the season.

Getting on a bit though, and I wonder if we lost the legs of Tronstad or Travis Forshaws age and lack of pace would be brutally exposed?

Hes not actually been capped I dont think.

On Buckley, I always felt like it was a bit of interesting man management by Eustace to make him vice captain. When he was captain it was often for the second string in cup games. Maybe he was trying to get more out of him.

That’s like playing for Treasure Island.

I didn't realize Treasure Island made the quarter finals of the last AFCON and are looking likely to qualify for the next World Cup.

Travis will be sold and so will any of the others if offers come in that are tempting.Β

The name of the game is doing this under the charade of 'rebuilding' or 'revitalising' the squad - i.e. bringing in a couple of cheaper alternatives whilst ushering the established players out the back door.Β

Most of us with sense can see what the real game is - it's the same they've been playing for 2-3 years now and will continue until there's nothing left.

Yes he said similar last summer about Travis would be likely sold and same with Dolan.Β https://www.brfcs.com/forums/topic/36874-the-summer-transfer-window-press-submit/page/169/#findComment-2603013

I can't wrap my head around signing this lad for this quoted fee. He played half the games for a small club in Portugal last season... I know inflation has driven the price of players up but 1.7 million for a lad who only started 15(?) games last season. Something feels off.Β

Lets see what the fee is or see what type of player he is actually cos I take no-one has seen him?Β

Players identified from far afield. I am a bit confused who is really driving the transfer strategy at Rovers. Is it Adam Owen? And Rudy Gestede? Neither of their job titles (Head of Technical Development, Head of Football Ops) really make it sound like they own transfers....?

Adam Owen has alot of contacts out there plus lets factoring in the scouting knowledge of our 2 senior scouts of Piotr Sadowski and Michael CairneyΒ

Is Buckley or JRC players you would bring on to see a lead out or game changers?Β

Did you not think we need to move them on for the sake of their own career and playing regular football

Buckley is awful. It's no coincidence our season fell apart when both Travis and tronstadt were out injured. Lewis baker was class and was real competition for them both. Forshaw resigning reminds me of us resigning uncle fadz last summer. An experienced head to have around and hopefully will do more off the pitch than on it.

Question for you both.

I get the fact he's experienced and can do a job as a late sub if we are leading. But a squad player can be needed for a period of time to start games should the first choices get middle.

If like for a spell this season, Forshaw was needed as 3rd/4th choice to play 5/6 games or more from the start, would you be comfortable that the overall quality of the team wouldn't dip too much?

So do you want us to store 4 players of the same quality as Travis and Tronstad?Β
