LT scared they would lose all access to rovers if they rock the boat. Not like they get any exclusives, can’t believe people pay for stories on ex players and managers moving to other clubs. They are way behind the curve on anything at rovers. Long story short they got nothing to lose. Get digging, start getting the gruesome stories about our owners out

They may then attract more subscribers.

Spot on..they are a local newspaper. They should be pressing this topic..what have they got to loss?Β

Some proper investigative journalism is requiredΒ

Jackson is a historian and statistician rather than an investigative journalist.Β

Someone who is good at the economy, how can Oxford afford to blow us out the water with bids on Dutch centre midfield?Β Β

They generate money and reinvest it.

We generate money and it disappears.Β

they did`nt blow us out of the water,we haveΒ  just decided not to spend any money this summer (those 2 we have signed were on the cheap, certainly not the price that was published),thats were we are under the chicken murderers

Today we failed to match the wages offered by Derby County and were seemingly outbid by Oxford Utd. We still haven’t renewed the contracts of any of our key players and the players we have signed are unproven gambles. I suppose the uncertainty about whether we will be able to field a team that’s competitive in this division in a few short weeks is kind of exciting.Β

Is anyone else completely underwhelmed by the sense of purpose emanating from our hamstrung, chicken-shit, dried up old excuse of a management team? I can't speak for anyone else, but normally by this point in a pre-season, I'd be starting to look forward to games, thinking about what the coming campaign might bring, and certainly gearing up for some excitement down the road...

This summer though, feels more like...

Dry as a fooking bone, and bouncing around like a tumbleweed disaster waiting to happen.

im`e dreading the new season,as it stands unless we spend some money and renew the contracts of our key players we won`t be competetive and will likely go down

My take on it is Rovers are expecting to sell Travis for around 2 million give or take so won't commit to any bids higher for anyone else.

"Alignment" claxon again, the favourite word for those coining it in from football.

Just need to learn how to spell it rightΒ

For several years I expressed a view that Rovers themselves were opting not to invest and spend money despite there being no restrictions on our ability to do so. Some posters shot me down on that claim, insisting that I was wrong and that FFP rules prevented us from doing any more.Β

I think we can safely say that the events of the last few years prove that FFP is the last thing we need to be worried about. Even ignoring the vast amounts of cash banked from player sales and sell on fees, we are now witnessing the likes of Charlton, Oxford, Derby, Millwall and Preston comfortably outspending us in the market.Β

It really isn't a great mystery as to how that can be - they have owners willing and able to invest in trying to support their clubs and make them better, we don't. They have staff employed to grow and improve their clubs, we don't. Their executives are tasked with trying to deliver sporting achievement and success, together with growth, our sole executive is tasked with saving money in every department, no more no less.

Can only get away with this for so long. Something will have to give.

The accounts (if they weren't doctored, which would be a bit surprising given how long has passed and how many fans on here have scrutinised them, but not entirely surprising given how dodgy these cunts are) demonstrate that for a long time we didn't have a lot of leeway on the spend most seasons, within the rules. If those accounts are true, then you were wrong (aside from ways we could have been creative whilst that was allowed, of course) at the time.

Now, we have definitely pulled the purse strings shut relative to what has been coming in and what they could do with funding. We had a season where we showed a profit, and there has been minimal spend, so they're definitely holding the money back now. That's not the same as you being proven right on your previous posts about what was happening then, just saying.

Was the Dutchman really a target after we had signed Tavares and Forshaw?Β

Last season, are the most relevant words of your statement. there is absolutely nothing to say he will have another good season. We will just have to wait and see.

That applies to every player.

The fact we’re relying on something called SCOUTASTIC to identify players is the biggest revelation of the window so far.Β

You can imagine that’s budget too. Like Tanfastic was to the tanning worldΒ

It emerged in February that Eustace offered to resign in the premier Summer over the slow transfer activity and the lack of support/ambition the club were showing. I really wonder now if Batth and Weimann were appeasement signings done to placate Eustace to prevent him leaving at a crucial time and that Gestede didn't actually want them so in turn low balled the offer made to them both for another season.

Quite often there are clauses in older players contracts such as a number of games which automatically trigger another one. It appears nothing of the kind offered to Batth and Weimann.

My theory is supported by the latest 'project' as esposed by the three stooges where Rovers are looking to buy/produce youngsters and increase their value to be sold on.

This 100% and i'm sure it was said Waggot did these deals and apparently Eustace was his man.

Talk of power struggles behind the scenes at that point also and now we know who has won those.Β  Gestede's AI machine now tells him he can get two loans for each wage of an experienced player so the bot wins the day.

I'm sure big Val would have been happy to keep both but he's the new yes man and they gave him the cheapest one back in Forshaw to appease him a bit.

I don't think so.

I think that him and Tavares were probably identified, and that Tavares was cheaper so we went for him.

Injured for a month within 2 days of being here.

Just a hunch, but I dont think Taveres will impact the first team at all this season.
