It seems clear that Gestede has well and truly got his feet under the table with the signings we are making.Β

There will have to be more than a few fingers and toes crossed that he knows what he is doing here because on paper it is worrying. Granted he is, like everyone else around this club, working with his hands tied behind his back financially, but it is a high risk strategy.

We've seen a similar sort of thing before with the Shebby and Portuguese influx. And thanks to someone last night pointing it out it does concern me that we've now signed two this summer from Vincent Tan's Belgian club who signed Gestede for Cardiff. I don't believe in such coincidences.Β

I didn't realise the link, but if we've got info from a certain club that others don't, then it would be foolish not to follow it up, if their players are up to it obviously.Β

Can we have a separate thread were we can call each other nasty names like 'bloody wazak' and classics like 'pillock' and 'toe rag'?Β

Would cockwomble be allowed?

Whoever joked about it being from Yverdon Sports should have a prize!

Might have been a few of us, but I will happily take creditΒ πŸ˜‚

I believe Mercer was also correct on the call that two players would be announced before the Stanley friendly. I hope that also means Brittain's contract is sorted too.

Never heard of this new African link and YouTube videos can make anyone look good. Linked with Celtic and others in the past and going off that video his assists should be more with a clinical finisher up top.Β

Hell fire, looks like we are actually going to spend a few bob.Β

One year left on his contract so we're only chasing deals like that, and other discounting factors re Mannsverk, but guessing the total package for Mannsverk is a lot higher than for this chap. Won't judge the window until it's shut.

What makes me laugh is when we sign anyone in a free or a minimal fee, everyone’s like β€œtight bastards” and the reported fee is taken as gospel…

But in this window including the new two, it’s now reported we’ve already spent roughly Β£4.75m in fees and everyone is like β€œbollocks” 🀣🀣🀣

Even if the Brittain contract doesn't get announced before the friendly, I'll give Mercer this one. As Meatloaf said, 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

It's moronic to give Ismael money when you didn't give Eustace any - so this is pretty par for the course.Β

Still very light on the wings and at centre backs

I hope we at least get permanent deals for those positions sorted before we start looking at the prem kids on loan.

Probably because most of the players signed don't remotely fit the profile of players who should cost anywhere near the reported fees. Plus the club have become experts at misleading the fans.

Sounds like Charlton have paid Β£1m for JRC….

Agreed. But the club haven’t reported the fees. The club rarely reports anything. News outlets have.

Listen, I’m not saying we’ve spent Β£4.75m, but we can’t have it both ways just to fit our narrative / hatred of Venkys.

It would seem that the club are backing Ismael based on the widely reported fees they’re spending on these players!? Right?

So Baradji, Tavares, allegedly both with big fees, and Forshaw all signed on this summer. All central midfielders. Has to mean at least one of Travis or Tronstad is getting lined up for a sale, maybe both.

The fly in the ointment of that theory though is that Baradji can apparently play, yes, DM or CM, but also right wing. I wonder where we intend to use him, though you'd think he's at least a contingency for if we lose someone there.

Maybe - though they could be direct replacements for JRC and Buckley?Β

Depends on how much they hope to get back from selling our best players?
