According to what i can see online, he last played on the 9th july, for 32 minutes... Cant see him being a starter anytime soon. Unless thats wrong. A month without any minutes. Has he even done a preseason or has he been injured? players missing pre season tend to have poor seasons.Β He got injured in that game he played 32 minutes, and hasn't trained since. Quote

This isnβt a Sammie Szmodics moment" Correct, there isn't a single player in this current Rovers side that isn't replaceable imo. We even managed without Szmodics goals when everyone (including myself) thought we would struggle. Travis and Tronstad are both good players but limited in their abilities and hopefully the new midfield players will bring a different dynamic to the team. For what it's worth, I have only ever seen one irreplaceable player in my time watching Rovers and that of course was Shearer, simply because there was nobody better at the time. Or since ! Quote

So..Sammie, BBD before him and now Dolan and Brittain all been developed by us, all entering their peak years, ALL leave in search of ambition and decent wages. They are all good top 10 championship players and the problem has never been with them. I canβt comment too much on the new signings, as I donβt know enough about them. Batth and Brittain have been two of our better players, though β we canβt keep losing key players without replacing them adequately. There are still clear question marks over Travis as well, and it doesnβt look like weβre close to a positive resolution there either. All we can do now is hope the new signings are as good as those who have left. Quote

But it also sounds like he has nowhere near the attacking ability of Brittain. So we may well get up there with him, but if it leads nowhere there isn't much point. Hopefully he's better at putting a cross in that it sounds like. As long as heβs a good defender, which heβs supposed to be, very good 1 vs 1, then signing a good right winger will make us better overall.Β 1 Quote

With that memory still fresh, it seems a bad loss However, he is a replaceable player. This isnβt a Sammie Szmodics moment Brittain was very good going forward and proved a reliable outlet. He allowed us to play out from the back as if we managed to spread it to him in space heβd cover ground very quickly. By all accounts, theyβre the same attributes Millar has Where Brittain let himself down is his defending. He got beat quite a bit and allowed too many crosses in for me. Millar is supposedly better at that aspect of the game. If we do manage to get that deal over the line then the blow of losing him is softenedΒ I remember that cup tie at Leicester JRC had that Harvey Barnes in his back pocket and we were cruising. JRC comes off, Brittain comes on in his place and Barnes ran him ragged. Leicester were shovelled the ball out to his wing. Another 5-10 mins and that game would have gone. A good attacking player who could usually Β put in a good ball, but for that he wouldnβt have been seen as good enough to get in the team as a pure defender. Keith Newton he wasnβt. Or Henning Berg or Kevin Hird etc etc. Edited 2 hours ago by Tyrone Shoelaces 3 Quote

If it was just the right back you could argue the point - especially if there was money made available to the manager to replace him. Β when the club are selling absolutely anyone and everyone who can bring in a fee, and investing virtually nothing back into the squad it IS a problem. 3 Quote
Popular Post Gamst Posted 2 hours ago Popular Post Posted 2 hours ago Brittain leaving is not mismanagement. Itβs deliberate. Everyone at the club knows the contract status of the players and Iβm sure if he offered to sign on a contract on the same or worse terms then he would have done it already. The issue is penny pinching and the goal is to always do things as cheaply as they can get away with. The same applies for Dolan, Travis, Batth and Tronstad. The club arenβt stupid, they just wonβt stump up the money required to seal the contracts. If we are unwilling to pay the going rate for these players then they wonβt sign and nor should they. I see it differently with Sammie and Adam Wharton who deserve to leave for a higher standard club. Brittain et al will make horizontal moves to teams who pay the going rate.Β 12 Quote

They need time to gel as any new players and systems do but there's going to be a lot trying to get used to the English championship as well. Quote

SuperBrfc Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago It's not the end of the world guys, Brittain was shit anyway. He's actually a greedy tosser, if we think about it. I'm sure Suhail did all he could to get him to stay, but we forget that we have to run the club as business and can't be blowing our wage structure and putting the club's future at risk. No player is bigger than the club and it's actually a good deal when looking at it from a business point of view. Β£3.5m in and Β£750k spent on a replacement. If we didn't have a replacement lined up, I'd be worried, but I have to give credit to Suhail for once. He's getting the hang of this, I feel. Maybe Rudy being here is what he needed to come out of his shell? The Hibs lad looks a good 'un any road. A unit and has the Neill/Emerton vibe about him. I suspect that this signing was an Adam Owen recommendation. He'll likely know all about Miller from his time at Hibs. If so, fair play Mr Owen. Let's see some more of this, please. An unrelated fun fact, though meaningless regards his playing ability and the signing, is that Miller came from playing in Australia and joined Hibs in 2022. A year earlier, a Mr Kean trod a similar path. Leaving work in Australia to join Hibs in 2022. It must be something in the water in Scotland. The world is so big, yet so small at the same time. A truly global game. I love all the different stories and seeing how people's careers pan out in the football world. Anyway, let's see if Suhail and Co can somehow get Rovers back to where we belong. It is exciting, as Rudy said. A part of me also wants Boro to go up with us. I miss the days of Ravanelli, Juninho and Emerson. Those were the days eh, Honeyman! How we would both love to be back there. We were also side by side as clubs in the 2000's for a time too. I quite like Boro and it's sad to see where we both are today. Let's bring those days back, Suhail. Come on. Time is ticking. Good luck to Callum, but we keep moving. 2 Quote
