Up to 5 years shows we have very high hopes for this guy. Think he'll be a firm fans favourite.

On the face of it seems the most promising signing so far but it would be a very Rovers like thing to give him an unusually long contract by our standards and then he has to stop playing within a relatively short period of time due to his illness.

Hope he stays healthy and we're well covered in case of any eventualities.

Two.

Plus a right winger.

The defence is going to have to be bloody good this season otherwise.

So either not being offered a new contract or one which doesn't reflect anything like your true worth makes you not committed? Weird take.

If there's one player I'd want alongside me in the trenches when the chips are down it's Travis.

Playoffs on the line Millwall away ring any bells.

Does anyone really think that the club will spend money on another striker after two came in last year, to play in one position, and having Tyjon and Leonard on the books at this point?

We would have to move on one of the two first choice strikers to be able to get another in surely, with most likely scenario being a loan striker coming in with Leonard leaving one way or the other.

He bottled that game big time. Think he’s great for a team happy to scrap away in the middle of the league, but as we saw with his loan to Ipswich, he’s not someone to be starting for a team striving at the top.Β
He suits us down to the ground in terms of our ambitions to be fair.

Rovers still want to add a right-winger and cover at centre-back before the transfer window ends. That is assuming there are no further unplanned exits, such as Callum Brittain's move to Middlesbrough.

Β

Though a dip into the loan market has not been ruled out, Rovers are keen to sign players permanently and develop them. With the club keen to create assets, owning the players if of importance to ensure they're not growing other teams' players.

I mean we need a lot of things, but the hole at RW is absolutely glaring.

If you get service to Ohashi and Gueye they'll score. Maybe we loan a PL lad in for #3? Won't be a superstar tho.

I'd still be keen on trying to find Leonard a league one loan, see if his body can handle playing regularly at that level week in week out.

Don't think it does the club or player any good to be hanging around here being 3rd choice and occasionally playing Under 21 games.

Move him out and get someone in who is quick and who can play on the shoulder would be my preference then we have three different strikers to mix it up.

Reading a few translated tweets and most GAIS fans have said he’s a player you’ll love and opposition fans will hate.

Axel, Miller, Sidnei, Alebiosu and McLoughlin all 6’2 +

Big Val’s squad of giants, shithousing are way to 15th place πŸ₯³

Just need someone who can take a set piece now...

Not really.

For the last season he was constantly calling out the owners for not investing.

People talk about him as if he was like Steve Kean, protecting a position at a level well above his station.

Not the case, he then went and got into the play offs the season after with a Championship club.

No he called them out in January over the lack of spending when it became apparent he wasn't getting a new deal before that there wasn't any discontent shown towards the owners and boardΒ

In fact he called out our fans a lot more than the owners "its not 94/95" We don't have Shearer etc".Also openly saying in an interview that he encouraged the recruitment guy to join Sunderland.Saying that publicly whilst still manager would have got him sacked at other clubs

I don't agree with the name calling and I think initially he did a good job he was just kept in it too long.Should have been sacked at least a year before he wentΒ

Makes no sense, thats why.

Came out with some crap which is just typical managing expectations spiel in the main.

The idea that he didnt want promotion didnt make sense on any level. Illogical, conspiracy theorist nonsense. It would have been a massive pay rise and a huge boost to his CV. Just wasnt capable which is a seperate matter. Hence why in that last season he got publically pissed off with the owners for doing what they do best to every manager we have and totally cut away any prospect of promotion.

Either way, the way his name triggers some all these years after is really unhealthy.

He's on the record as saying he'd had to persuade Iron Bar Venky not to splash out on transfers as we had to grow gradually.

Just saying.

That chest down and volley at the end of the reel was something to behold. If we can get him into scoring positions, this might be a very influential player for the upcoming season.Β

And maybe the bare bones backroom boys down at Ewood / Brockhall are doing something interesting after all..despite the resounding silence coming from the Punatics... it's the hope that kills πŸ™‚

Be about time we had a centre midfielder who could win a header at least. Travis has been our tallest for sometime and he’s 6 foot dead on.

I expect Axel to be announced today. I think Axel and Miller will be very shrewd signings and our best two this summer so far. If Baradji ever gets done, which I think he will eventually, then that's a trio of smart signings. Aggressive, physical players who have the right mindset and physical traits for the Championship.Β

I think Tavares is also a shrewd signing and McLaughlin is solid.

De Neve I'm not convinced about but, equally, don't know too much about him. Doesn't look to have the physicality for the Championship and not known for his technical ability either. Purely workrate and versatility; perhaps a better version of Chris Taylor. A decent squad player but the issue for us is that he looks like he's going to be a starter.

Alebiosu is someone who I think will be out of his depth at this level and will be shipped out within 12 months but I could be wrong!

de Neve is the type of player you can start away from home when looking to catch teams on the break (not letting them get too comfy and sit high). Also when protecting a lead towards the end of matches or if we face an opposition RW with pace and he needs to help our slower players in Ribeiro and Pickering.Β

He hasn't been a regular this season, that doesn't sound too promising. But injury concerns, his contract nearing its end, and increased competition in the GAIS midfield were all factors.

Regarding Trav, I suspect he isn't going to sign a contract and is stringing us along to go to Derby on a bigger wage in a year under a gentleman's agreement. If so, get him sold now. I know he's the club captain, I know things are shit at the club but just take the money and get a few more bodies in the door.Β

Β

You can't have your captain not being 100% commited, players will pick up on it.Β

If he is agreeing to go to Derby a year before his contract ends then he would be braindead.

I can understand an older player following a manager or someone going there on a short term contract but like no guarantee Eustace will be even there next season.

If Eustace gets offered a better opportunity than Derby he will be off...if he does poorly then he would be in the threat of the sack.

Due to my ignorance I hadn’t realised the Swedish league had already started. Let’s hope he doesn’t do a β€˜Yuki’ and burn out or get injured near Christmas time.
