BlackburnEnd75 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Can tavares and presumably baradji (or whoever) replace Travis's consistency and availability.ย Tavares doesn't have a history of playing a lot of games. Baradji is supposedly carrying an injury. Thats before we get into wether they can hack the pace of the league and gel in. Travis is a battle hardened championship centre mid. Who is available for 85-90% of most seasons. ย ย 2 Quote

alexanders Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Trav leaving is a real sucker punch. He is someone the supporters identify with and someone who brings pride to the team. Compared to Britain, JRC and even Dolan, he will be very very very hard to replace.ย 4 Quote

I love Trav. I have him as my profile pic on X and as I said yesterday in here - he is Arte et Labore. ย Why does he not? We seem to be prioritising athleticism over ability. Travis does have ability (might not be a brilliant passer but no mug either) but he certainly is an athlete as well as bringing other things. Surely he suits it down to the ground. Quote

A right sided Kargbo then? 1 Quote

It will be very difficult to replace him, especially seeing as we will be doing so for a small fee most likely from a random European league. Tavares had a decent game againsr Bradford, is thay enough for you to consider Travis to already be replaced adequately? Lunacy if so. Baradji seems to be flavour of the month based on a highlights reel. If he needs months off that should be off the table straight away. Beyond that, we also dont have a slot for him in terms of ESC. And beyond that, you are replacing a proven good Championship midfielder with someone who has had one good season seemingly at a relegated Swiss club. I agree it's a blow to lose him but it's really not a surprise. His leadership and championship know how will be missed more than anything. Tavares is very highly rated and far superior in terms of technical ability than Trav. Baradji too is very highly rated and has been watched by much bigger clubs. Both have high ceilings whereas Trav is and always will be a championship battler. 1 Quote
Popular Post CrouchingNunhiddenCucumber Posted 3 hours ago Popular Post Posted 3 hours ago I'm convinced that Pasha's luck will finally run out this season. We've had a couple of decent managerial appointments combined with some wizardry by various iterations of our recruitment department that's meant we've over achieved in 2 of the last 3 seasons. The silly cunt thinks this means you can run a Championship club on peanuts and be successful.ย The only hope is that when we are eventually relegated the wretches sell, not holding my breath though.ย 16 Quote

Again, a player's legend grows as soon as he's destined to leave. I don't want to lose Travis, because your captain walking out on you tells you that the club is fucked behind the scenes, but he's nothing special. PL clubs have never been interested. Ipswich wanted him as a bench player. JDT didn't rate him - it's only really Eustace that has got a consistent tune out of him. 1 Quote
Jimmy612 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Can't be arsed going in to the nitty gritty of every performer, but on the new lads and new first teamers; Tavares - Stood out and was our best player (not difficult). Mobile, strong, always wants the ball and keeps it moving well.ย Worth remembering that almost a year to the day John Buckley absolutely waltzed around Stockport, who funnily enough had just been promoted to L1.ย ย It's a long old season, and Tavares hasn't played many minutes through his career - already had one injury, so whilst promising, those more or less implying we don't need Travis anymore are getting ahead of themselves.ย De Neve - looks a really basic footballer to me.ย Missed a hell of a chance 5 mins before a well taken goal.ย Every pass is safe, ran down blind alleys on a number of occasions, and didn't stand out at all.ย Don't know what he brings apart from effort and some pace.ย Miller - Should be okay.ย I liked his profile when we signed him, obviously very committed and we scored from his long throw.ย Be a couple of months before we truly see whether his level is Championship, but looks okay.ย Axel - Crikey, thought he had his boot laces tied together for the first 15mins.ย It looks to me like when he has time to think, he makes a mess of it.ย His best attribute from what I could see was nice little first time passes round the corner.ย Not even close to the finished article, and could take a good while to get anywhere close to champ standard.ย Alebiosu - Bit of an enigma, no grace whatsoever and don't think he has much quality or guile.ย Pace will probably get him out of a lot of holes. Not sure on this one.ย Kargbo - Weird player. Pace, power and does scare defenders.ย But his decision making and execution of basic skills is a bit alarming.ย Montgomery - Dreadful.ย Not a right back in a million years.ย Got caught dawdling on the ball 3 or 4 times, sloppy passes, terrible first touches. He looked totally overwhelmed by the end of it. Knew he'd had a nightmare. If he's championship quality I can't see it yet.ย Michalski - I think we probably need an experienced number 2.ย Tyjon - I actually think he struggled a bit. Showed some glimpses, and Bradford got stuck in to him.ย Can't think of any chance(s) that he had, and he looks very slow indeed to me.ย 4 Quote
rovers11 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago 21 minutes ago, briansol said: Spot on. Of the players left (including Travis) you could probably say Brittain is the only top-end Championship player. The big issue is the impact on the dressing room. We had the same problem 2 seasons ago when we almost got relegated. The squad was young and experienced without any leaders. Last season Travis was back along the experienced heads of Bath, Weimann which has been highlighted in interviews by other players.ย Exactly, I agree that Brittain is the only top end player we've lost but it's the cumulative effect of losing so much championship experience in one go. It's a recipe for disaster. You need championship know how to win games in this league. Venky's will be very pleased with this window so far. Wage bill reduced, on course to make a profit in transfer fees, and the average age of the squad lowered so potential future assets to sell. There literally is no other ambition at the club apart from those things. Does the club even try and pretend anymore that the ambition is to get back to the Premier League. Quote

TimmyJimmy Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Gueye is the newย Shefki Kuqi. It's going to end in tears if we don't sign another striker. Too much pressure will be put on Ohashi as lone scorer and his confidence will crash. Reliant then on goals from midfield but we don't have anyone who can do that. No goal scorers, a defence always likely to give away a goal ... we are really scewed. We need the cavalry to come charging over the hill. 2 Quote

Danny O.Brien Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago (edited) This whole transfer window is being completely side tracked by players leaving. Brittain refused to play, then went on a lads holiday and then went. Travis too, Dolan where would he end up. No matter how good or important we think they might be, if they're going the club needs to name their price. If they don't meet our valuation tough shit. None of the names mentioned are irreplaceable or worth keeping around if unhappy. Enough so that they tell the club they want to go. Ship them out and move on. I like how open and honest the manager is but at the same time it's detrimental to the group, who are staying and the fans who just see it as our captain wants to leave. If a bid comes in and the club deem it good value and the players are actively trying to push for the move. Do it, we can't go back to losing players on a free. Who down tools in January and have one eye on leaving. Edited 2 hours ago by Danny O.Brien 1 Quote

RoversClitheroe Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago People need to be honest with themselves. Travis leads the culture of the team. You only have a high performing team with a good culture. The way key players are leaving and not being replaced makes me think the culture is fucking rotten. It's got relegation written all over it. 9 Quote
