Could be an interesting stand off if he wants to follow Eustace to Derby but we want to accept a slightly higher fee from Wrexham.

Have we actually accepted a bid from Derby or was that the local rag jumping the gun? (it would be an interesting tribunals case if the fee was agreed, the player wanted the move but then Rovers tried to back out... Wonder if Venkys would take Suhail to court for exceeding his authority...)

Arghhh…I was so interested in this post. Smart thinking! And then you washed Kargbo and Henriksson out vs Dolan and Weimann! Ffs mate, how on EARTH have you decided they are a downgrade based on next to no evidence?

Great post - In January, I’d be delighted to run through this comparison. πŸ‘πŸΌ

Based on the evidence I’ve seen (not much) I’d rather Dolan and Weimann over Kargbo and Henriksson. But it’s way too early (as I said!) to start making accurate assessments. Dolan for work rate and Weimann for G/A returns. I’m hopeful both turn out to be significant improvements, but right now, I’d take knows.Β

Nice ball to Hedges, good awareness but nothing that earth shattering. Hedges still had a lot to do.Β  (And I hate giving Hedges any credit.Β πŸ™‚)

Did he do anything else in the game apart from that? Im not sure how Cantwell not passing to him goes down as a positive on his balance sheet.Β

Β

Hedges fired it wide - so you don't need to give him any credit.

A player making an excellent run and not being passed to isn't his fault.

Weirdly, I think we will end up spending more money than we have done recently because this system plays to Pasha and Rudys ego.

Lets see.

Depends how you define "spending money".

To me selling Β£7m worth of players and spending Β£7m on players coming in is spending nothing not "spending Β£7m on transfer fees".

Im very easily irritated by anything the Club does these days but it also irritates me when the official site parades someone as "the 8th" signing of the summer etc making it sound as though it's the 8th outright addition when in reality including departing loanees there's probably at least that many if not more gone out so if anything Id guess we're slightly down on numbers.

Looks like he's up before the firing squad or theΒ  hostage in a video making a ransom demand or something.

We've done well if we've got Β£1m for him Id say and financially it's probably a very lucrative move for Buckley.Β

Means nothing until the player signs on the dotted line.

You'd have a very unhappy player on your hands though.

I don’t think you’ve worked Suhail out at all, if you don’t think he lives to be seen as β€˜clever’. He is Mr Ego personified, so I believe. No one will convince me that he’s not flexing. It’s not JUST about reducing costs. If it were then why bother funding the academy? Why bother scouting the lower Belgian leagues? He’s selling his employers the dream…best case scenario he gets promoted in their ecosystem and gets moved on.

I reckon he’s sold a dream that he can cut costs, buy cheap and sell high, whilst keeping us in the league.Β

I dont think he needs to sell them a dream. He is essentially an extension of the owners, he is not someone that has to justify his employment to them.

The academy is more cost effective to keep, its heavily subsidised, might throw up the odd big sale or two and fills squad roles that otherwise would cost more than our contribition to academy costs in filling those squad players externally. We scout the lower Belgian leagues because they are cheap.

Im sure all below him are striving to do as well as possible. But Suhail's objective is to keep costs low as per the owners, and his job is clearly safe regardless of performance.

I think your issue with both of these is based on underestimating the contributions of the 2 players leaving. It doesnt have to be seen as a slight on Kargbo and Henriksson.

You have been IMO unfair on Dolan, suggesting that he will soon be in League 1, instagramable Hedges, like a youtube player etc. He was a productive Championship winger. It is too early to say I appreciate, so is basically all of this thread, but we are essentially just predicting. But if Kargbo had a season as effective as Dolan last season, it wouldnt be outstanding, but it would be a very productive season.

Weimann and seemingly Henriksson were/will be squad players. The former offered valuable goals in doing so. Again, it will be a very healthy first season if the latter matches that.

Agree with you: not unusual that a club would agree a fee only for a player to move elsewhere (usually for more money for both). More curious as to whether there has actually been any agreement reached with Derby or if our local newspaper (and possibly our manager) have been sold a fairy story...

we now have a fully β€˜aligned’ team.

Indeed - (to oblivion and beyond....)

All working to slash budgets but remain in the league. (7th last year with rugs pulled but anywhere in the league this year will do.) Gestede has already stated going up is not the target.

How do G and VI’s pay compare to that of SWAG and JE?

I dont know, but IdΒ  guess VI is on roughly the same as JE, and RG is on a LOT less than the eye watering Β£562k Waggott paid himself according to the last lot of accounts.

Must have forgotten how he "accidentally" scored two own goals in one game.

As part of 3 own goals within about 50 minutes of football across 2 games, then a red card 75 minutes later (in the same game he scored 2 own goals).

Persona non grata in Blackburn, for life.

I thought everyone was referring to Kargbo's assist for Hedges' goal

Duffy was rough as hell when he joined us from Everton, clumsy, prone to gaffes, a poor player, but improved enormously in his short time at Ewood only to leave under a cloud and give the impression he was doing us a favour playing for Rovers. Too much baggage and he's 34 in January too. No thanks

I saw this a couple of days ago. Was going to post a comment but was seething and decided against it as no pleasant words were comingΒ  out of my mouth. He shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the towns boundary line never mind the club(largely for his own safety)
