I know it's easy to look at G/A from a players previous season, and judge, but there's good pedigree in Gudjohnsen.

He came through academies like Real Madrid, Top scorer in the Danish league, experience in the conference league (including an assist) against Chelsea, full international with a few goals already...All this and he's still so young...He's got loads of time to develop and it simply hasn't worked out for him at Gent. If he'd scored a few more he'd have top European clubs looking at him.

Taking all of the above into consideration, I find it slightly strange that others arnt in for him - Is he injured?

Impressive how much of this reads like Arnor Sigurdson.

I don't remember Eidur being a chunky character but his soon seems a bit girthy

Doesn't appear to be. He played a total of 5 minutes in the opening 2 games of the season and then hasn't been selected for the squad over the past 2 games.

I've looked around and can't see anywhere where it says he's injured. He just seems out of favour.

Gent do have a new manager this season, so maybe that's part of it.

We’re such a clown show. Feel bad for Leonard. Gets his chance at first team football. A relaunch of his career. Likely bitter sweet with the years he’s spent at the club, says his heartfelt goodbyes…then some c^nt who know fuck all about football walks in and says we’re not selling you. Back to the bench and the 21s until we get another £300,000?  A rounding error in modern football terms.

In the end I hope we loan him out so he gets to play everyday. The kid deserves a shot to kick start his career.

Not even as if it is massive amounts, how much would it cost in total to pay his wages till January?

I’m so what confused with the thread and the excitement at the new look Rovers. Some are even saying Gestede has done a great job. On the surface we have an exciting new squad but dig deeper and we have assist stripped, cut wages, disposed of the established vocal and passionate players who would speak out, sold academy local.

grown talent, a goal

keeper Pears who’s not been heard of for ages, and back room staff being disposed of, there is so much unrest and change at the club it frightens the F out of me and is seriously strange. I’ve not know a club make such sweeping changes in a season.

goodness know what agent payments have been made and pockets feathered with these transfers-someone will

gain. So who’s pulling the strings in these transfers? Whose benefiting, why the whole squad overhaul (and lack of contracts is a poor excuse as they’ve not been offered/played under valued )

the apathy and denial between the fan base of some serious concerns, lack

of anger and pointing finger at people jumping ship as snakes or not loyal worries the hell out of me. Yet those pulling the stirngs on the surface are painted as doing a great job in loosing deadwood.

why isn’t everyone jumping with rage 😡 is beggars belief

Followed Furphy to 1st Division Sheffield Utd. Don't think he did much there but ended up at New York Cosmos who at the time had signed people like Pele and Beckenbauer at the end of their careers.

Famously there's a picture of him with Pele, Id imagine he's the only ex Rovers player to have played with him! Not sure if any played against him when he was younger.

Go on YouTube. The goal was for Sheffield United v Ipswich. If you didn’t know it was Tony Field you’d think it was Messi. A brilliant bit of skill.

Incidentally I was browsing the racks in TKMaxx years ago and I came across two replica New York Cosmos shirts by “ Umbro “ , one home and one away. “ Pele “ and “ 10 “  on the back. I just couldn’t leave them there. I was hoping to get the great man to sign them one day. Too late now.

I am super excited by this one. Normally the genes has a lot to say.

Real Madrid academy

who else was deemed not good enough for the real academy and had to ply their trade elsewhere? Martin Odegaard (cap of Arsenal)

May have a massive potential

Was gutted for weeks when Tony Field left.  Exciting lil player.  Not sure how he did after he left us.

There is a photo of Tony Field and Pele playing together at New York cosmos. The caption says :" The greatest player in the world, and Pele".

I'd be quite happy with this one.  Not seen much of him but his International record isn't bad at all for 23.

Could be a good option for that lone role.  Looks physical enough and should be technically good- given his time at youth level in Spain.

If his style is anything like his dads, he should be a good fit for us.

Another player with a big upside should he have a decent season or 2.

Has Rudy done a good job? Well the proof will be told in time, but it also depends on how you define a good job.

I'm not supportive or against Rudy, but I can recognise he's managed a squad overhaul pretty much in one window. He's got what is presumably the profile that VI wants - more athleticism and pace. He's got rid of deadwood - JRC and Bucko, who presumably were on decent wages within our structure. The blip for most would be the senior first xi players who were sold - but the balance is them leaving on a free which we've had enough of. If we can't offer extensions they'll sign is that Rudy's fault, or the budget he is working within? The unknown transfers are always a risk but, particularly under Mowbray, there was often talk of how our UK based recruitment was so unimaginative. Rudy feels he has better value from abroad so let's see. If rather try a punt on Tavares and Baradji than another Akpan and Williamson.

Yup, being reported by reputable source in the target location = VERY likely!

I watched his reel this morning and he looks good. Clean striker of the ball, left and right foot. Resembles his dad with a couple of cute finishes too.

PS - before the naysayers come on saying he hasn’t scored many in the last year, if he had….hed be worth 10x what we’re paying. We have to sign them at this stage and hope they hit that curve whilst playing for us.

Ronnie Clayton played against Pele at the 1958 World Cup.

He didn’t Phillip. Neither Pele or Ronnie Clayton played in the  0-0 draw between England and Brazil in the 1958 World Cup. It was a result of Brazil failing to score that they brought Pele into the team. Wolves Eddie Clamp played in Ronnie’s position. Bryan Douglas played in that game though.

Ronnie did play directly against Pele in the away friendly against Brazil in the following year.
