how can you?

I can understand if you are going sell him due to his contract ending at the end of the season but not to have a proper replacement to replace him isn't good enough

Fair play.

Do you still believe everyone is totally aligned? Do you think Ismael will be happy?

Ismael wanted to change 6 or 7, we will have signed 10 and still are short in certain areas.

He wanted to keep Travis/Hyam/Batth/Brittain/Weimann/Dolan and hasnt kept any.

Didnt want loans and now weve resorted to 2 including one on deadline day scrambling around for bodies.

Idk why people are mentioning free agents when we have such a low wage bill. Pathetic.

The answer is within your own statement.

Manager saying keeping the core of the squad is important ...we've just blown away almost all of the core....only Tronstad and maybe Cantwell still here. Poor Rovers

Yeah hard to see how Ismael is on board with this. If it all starts falling apart expect him to start the blame game pointing upstairs.

Would like to congratulate Middlesbrough...highly ambitious getting players like Brittain and Browne in a promotion chasing side showing ambition like we don't do. They will get promoted this season.

I’m actually quite excited by a few of the lads we’ve signed, the problem is we’ve just gutted the rest of the squad and a few potentially creative players is merely window dressing even if they turn out well.

My thoughts as well, if we'd added to the squad with some of these signings I'd be pleased but we've replaced proven championship players who composed the spine of the team with cheaper alternatives from minor European leagues.

I’m sure you’re right it’s just clubs get months on end to do transfers and then get leeway as if the deadline has just suddenly snuck up on them.

Aye, I think it's just the nature of having a deadline. Whenever you have it, this will happen. Because clubs try to play brinkmanship games with each other, or they completely run out of their main targets so make a desperation bid at the last minute (or even a day or so before), which starts other dominoes moving.

It's wild, of course, but if you really think about it, it's pretty much inevitable. Only a club with infinite pockets wouldn't have to worry about it and could do their business ahead of time, and thanks to FFP and P&S, even they do now. Or a club that gets lucky and just manages to land all its targets at fair prices punctually, and isn't subject to late vulture bids itself.

There's always been a grace period if you can submit a deal sheet outlining the main points of the deal hasnt there?

Rightly or wrongly.

Wrongly in my opinion - and I still don’t think the EFL has deal sheets.

Miller was brought in weeks ago as his “replacement”

Possible they may just be run professionally and actually get it done on time tbf.

I don't doubt it for a minute. Anyone is compared to us. But I still wouldn't be surprised if favours were done for Wrexham given who their owners are.

We're still capable of kicking them out the door I see

If they could get away with 11 part time players, they would.

I suppose it's just a case of having a soft and a hard deadline. The former encompassing the initial paperwork between clubs, and the latter relating to ironing out the final details. You could call 9pm the 'real' deadline, with 7pm being more like a final call for any deals concluded between the clubs but with player terms still to be thrashed out.

I think, regardless of owners, the EFL will be fairly strict on the matter. Allowing one club to slip through the deadline, even on a technicality, sets a precedent and opens the floodgates in future. Probably more sensible to just take a hard line with everyone.

Charlton signing some decent championship players. David datro Fofana hasn’t played in this league but would be good enough for this level and have just signed James bree a good solid championship player. I genuinely feel embarrassed.
