KentExile Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Charlton signing James Bree &Â David Datro Fofana on loan, apparently Fofana turned down Celtic to go there, so they must be offering decent money 2 Quote
bluebruce Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Well I guess we'd better start looking at our youth team backup CB options as they may be needed before January. O'Riordan - oh we already loaned him out. Currently being dominant in League One apparently. Atcheson - played 3 PL2 games so far this season, seems to be fit. Has impressed a bit in cup games when played briefly in the past. Litherland - only one PL2 game so far this season, presumably injured? Or has fallen down the pecking order quite badly. There are others of course, but these seem to be the ones who have been anywhere near the first team setup. Sound like they have a bit of promise, but obviously it's too early to have to rely on them. Before we see any of them, we are likely to see Miller and Pickering used as CBs. Miller likely the first 'non-CB' to be put there, as allegedly he was better in Scotland at CB than RB. Worrying that Wharton and Carter are two of our three remaining seen as proper CBs, with their injury records and form issues. McLoughlin of course is suspended for just the next game I assume? So we will have to field Wharton and I would guess Miller, since Carter is only just returned from injury and it's probably unwise to risk him for 90 given we are now threadbare there. 1 Quote
Popular Post Mike Graham Posted September 1 Popular Post Posted September 1 I look at our squad and it frightens me. Where is our strength in depth? Â A couple of key injuries (Cantwell, Tronstad) and we are buggered. Â This is our weakest and least experienced squad for many seasons. 10 Quote
iSeeRed Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Just now, Elrovers said: Charlton signing some decent championship players. David datro Fofana hasn’t played in this league but would be good enough for this level and have just signed James bree a good solid championship player. I genuinely feel embarrassed. It's a bad year to implement the Gestede ball strategy of selling all our best players and hoping there's three worse teams. All the promoted sides will stay up I think. 5 Quote

The former encompassing the initial paperwork between clubs, and the latter relating to ironing out the final details. You could call 9pm the 'real' deadline, with 7pm being more like a final call for any deals concluded between the clubs but with player terms still to be thrashed out. I think that final 2 hour rush will be why some clubs go silent in that period after the 'deadline' of 7pm ends, as they're too busy thrashing out the details of deals and making sure they've actually gone through before announcing (assuming our lot have learnt that lesson!). 2 Quote

The standard of the players we are signing are not going to make it in League 1 . I personally think , Venkys objective is League 2 or National League . But , why don't they sell up and cut their losses ? It makes no sense any of it except David Whelan was 100% correct , when he said 'the club is not safe ' they can't sell as the instrument they borrowed against will be called and debt will fall on Vs, as long rovers is running , leage 1 or even national ...they'll kick it down the road... they losing bank money but think about personal income through contracts ,kickbacks, player buy/sell %, many ways we're being milked just because Vs name on the signboard doesn't mean they pulling the strings 2 Quote

philipl Posted September 1 Posted September 1 That defunct send button doing its thing again. Paperwork now has to be complete and filed. But up to the clubs when they announce it. Several mooted PL moves not announced including Isak to Liverpool and Elliott to Villa. Quote
islander200 Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Staying in London probably a big pull for Fofana Quote

benhben Posted September 1 Posted September 1 (edited) Notice Emanuel Denis is now a free agent as of today. Wonder if hed be tempted back to prove a point. If Hyam goes this squad has relegation written all over if...if it doesn't already. Barely any experience anywhere and cheap as chips. Edited September 1 by benhben 1 Quote

The point being that he is a useless lump of knobcheese who couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding with his lack of effort and appalling attitude? Nah. Not interested. Thanks. Moving on. Edited September 1 by Old Codger I may be a lump of wanky old knobcheese, but I know a footballer when I see one.. E. Dennis isn't what I'd class a baller. 5 Quote

He had a very stop-start spell with us. There's a player in there for sure, AND he actually knows the division and has experience. No brainer for me! Quote
Inferi Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Relying on Wharton as a regular starter now are we? Forced to play match after match until his body breaks down? Against Norwich it looked like he was running in quicksand. Quote
