Eiran Cashin is leaving Brighton on loan apparently.

Left footed centre back who they bought from Derby 6 months ago.

With our relationship with Brighton, and it being a position that we need I could see us going for him.

Also kicks the can down the road for a permanent signing back there which they love to do.

No chance of cash out to get Cashin

Nobody is paying Β£2m for Pears.

6 Figures I would think.

And that is with the last two figures being pence.

Couldn't help but notice that Pears is conspicuously missing from all the new GK kit marketing. Their latest X post even features one of the younger goalies (Michalski I think) alongside Toth.

Couple that with Toth being touted as next season's #1... pretty much confirms that Pears will be sold this window!

Should be a cool little Β£1m-2m in the transfer kitty Venky's pockets.

Theyve numerous kits to promote.

The likes of Tronstad, Hyam, Carter, Cantwell etc are also missing.

Maybe theyll promoted the away kit.

Also, no way is anyone paying that for him even if he does go.

I think it’s likely to be Pears and Travis to be flogged, Tonstadt and Brittain to stay. Imagine they can’t wait to get Travis’ salary off the books and I reckon Pears will be on a decent whack as well. He came in from Boro under Mowbray

He signed a new 4 year contract in 2023 - so sadly we can't even blame Mowbray for this one.

Definitely the silly season ...

Leeds United midfielder, Ao Tanaka thought to be of interest to a number of championship clubs. Leeds want at least Β£8m for the versatile oriental. Blackburn Rovers most keen, but are only willing to do a swap deal.

Are we allowed to use the phrase 'oriental' in 2025?

Also who are they swapping him for?! Β£8m is probably the total value of the squad.Β

Think there are a few of us who remember Butcher!

When Paul Bradshaw left for Wolves I remember Butcher's girl friend telling me at the time 'John will be better than Paul and go on to play for England'!Β  Think my response was simply 'let's wait and see'!

Β

He had a hard act to follow really, with Rogers Jones and then Paul Bradshaw being the previous two keepers, who were both outstanding.

Let's just say, he wasn't the best and certainly caused a few butterflies here and there, when the ball was in our box.Β

Who needs Yamal when you've got Cant(very)well

Different financial constraints in the championship right? Wrexhams ground holds less than 13k fans, they simply cannot be paying huge wages with their income. Birminghams ground isn't far off 30k, they're more likely to be able to throw a bit more cash aroundΒ

Their ground will hold 16,000 when their new stand is finished (should be by the end of the season). Which is roughly what we averaged this season, and since their demand is very high I'd expect they'll fill that most weeks (dependent on away fans). Once you add in their commercial income, which they are far, far better at managing than us, they should have a significant financial advantage over us, as depressing as it is to admit. There should be a lot more wriggle room in their wage budget too, as they currently have a League One squad.

On top of this, if the rules are still how they used to be, they're effectively starting from scratch on the loss limits, meaning they have three years to pretty much spend how they want before it catches up with them.

Markanday signed for Chesterfield last night

I still maintain that Rovers should have triggered his year option.Β  Not that I think he was a huge asset to the paying squad, but even if they had still allowed him to move on a free transfer this summer they could have inserted a fairly high sell on fee.Β

It was always obvious that he would end up at Chesterfield (or similar) this summer, so Rovers may as well have potentially made something in the future on the deal.Β  Β If he has a full season like his initial loan at Chesterfield then his transfer fee in a years time would be useful to any normal club (where income affects expenditure) in Rovers position

Another miscalculation by those in charge of the purse strings

I can't agree that Kent, I don't see the point of re-signing him when he need to play football and develop. He had his chances here and was never good enough

Good spot that.Β

I think you are right that Pears will move on and I think its probably right to do so and we will at least get over 1m for more than decent keeper for championship or PL team who wants a number 2 keeper as a back up

I expect Pears to move on cos he wants to number 1 or will get a move to PL as back up keeperΒ

I think JRC and Buckley need to move on for their own career and start playing somewhere regular

More than a decent keeper at this level for mid table clubΒ

The point would be, to get some money back on him, which I will concede is a moot point as income does not affect the budget at this club

I said ages ago Pears would be flogged for 1 or 2 million total deal and that's why they persisted with him to get development and value as high as possible as quick as possible.

It nearly led to a scrap with a couple on here such is the negative hysteria at times that clouds the reality of stuff.

I stand by it in fact i pray for it although big Val keeping Toth in might have hampered it a bit but we live in hope he's proven himself an average now quite experienced English Championship keeper.

I'm less confident about what will replace him.

Replacement is already here I imagine, with Barrett and Goddard signing new deals.

Both would need registering this season as over 21, so that would be our 3 keepers I think.

Michelski as Under 21's first choice.

Not really going to hamper. Isn't the same as Kaminski being shifted out by JDT?

Based on my eyes. I dont think he is a more than decent keeper for a mid table club bringing in above Β£1m personally.

Although theres been a massive overreaction to a kit launch (1 of 3) that had was it 5 or 6 of the squad in it. Means nothing.Β

or alternatively we look to bring in an experience keeper to be back up to Toth, and Michalski as third choice, with Barratt and Goddard sharing the under 21's dutiesΒ  Β

If you look back before the contract announcements happened that Markanday should be released, not good and shouldn't get a new contract.Β

What money are we going to get? and and what point offering a contract to him when he has been a regular here?Β

Whilst Wrexham's commercial income is likely far better than ours (due to better management, no 'small town small club, We've done all we can' claptrap there)

What they haven't done is brought in Β£40 million through player sales in the last few years, which we have. So that rather significant windfall I'd suggest matches or outstrips whatever advantage they might have had there.

That was John Butcher for the old timers.

Not many modern keepers confident with crosses these days.

butcher was always prone to a flap or two,not the best shot stopper either,he used to get my dad shouting when he looked to be in one of his nervous modes, when rovers signed terry gennoe,he was never going to get the no1 shirt back ,gennoe was a top keeper,2nd only to friedel as rovers best keeper

Doesn't matter if you aren't spending more than 10% of it.
