Crazy, you spend your whole life preaching that everyone is entitled to an opinion and then suddenly because Dolan gets a move to Espanyol, then the people who doubted him are “wrong”. Listen, for the very last time. I hope to god I’m wrong, because there’s no doubt he’s a great lad. But in 100+ games, I’m saying he’s crap. He won’t be the first crap player to get a great move. He’s extremely low risk in terms of wages and fees so it’s probably best if everyone sits back and sees how things work out for him there before we start deciding whether anyone was right or wrong. Eh? People are allowed their own opinions, but there’s definitely an expectation that people should hold their hands up when they get it wrong. At the moment though, people that said he wouldn’t get a move anywhere good, are wrong. I’m saying that’s okay, but to then say ‘let’s see how he gets on’, I don’t agree, I’m afraid. ‘Let’s wait until I might be right again in a few years?’ Do me a favour. He got a good move, then if he fails and ends up back in the Champo on loan, then fair enough, but he’s currently a La Liga player, when some said he was lower Championship or League one at best. They were just factually incorrect, to be fair. 3 Quote
Popular Post RoversClitheroe Posted 16 hours ago Popular Post Posted 16 hours ago Scary to think Hedges is now the starting winger. He should be nowhere near that 11 with the lack of contribution he provides. Absolutely terrible. 13 Quote

Funny how some couldn't 'wait and see' where he went before basically writing off his chances of doing anything other than another Nyambe heading downwards. Now its pivoted to 'he'll flop and drop in no time just wait and see' 🤣 1 Quote
Displaced Rover Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago I’m entirely confident Dolan’s time in Spain will go exactly like Brereton’s. That said, presumably on decent money, fair play to him. 2 Quote

Tony Rover Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Whatever happens with Dolan, Rovers are weaker without him. I hope the lad does good over there. If we were run right as a club he would probably still be with us. 7 Quote

Talk about his arrogance, him being agent led, comparisons to Nyambe, talk about why he hadnt gone anywhere yet etc, all surrounding where he would go now and whether he should have stayed. He has already justified running his contract down and waiting by getting a very good move. That he could do so clearly wasnt fuelled by misplaced arrogance as it has come to fruition. Havent seen any suggestions that people think he will thrive in La Liga, thats a totally seperate argument. Quote

JCRovers Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Good move for Dolan, wish him well at Espanyol. He's getting a nice sign-on bonus, salary raise and nice weather conditions to play in. People should be pointing finger at the owners rather than an individual player who decides to leave for more ambitious projects than ours. Club is losing significant transfer money by either neglecting contract situation(s) or fail to cash in when offers do come by (Brereton, Dolan etc.). We have, since a couple of years back, entered a rather dangerous (and unsustainable) territory of not being able to renew player contracts leading to a decreased squad value and inability to properly replace the outgoings or strengthen the squad. We also have a head coach who now openly admits that they're willing to gamble on Brittain this year and risk letting him leave for nothing next summer. In addition, no reports suggests that a renewal for either Travis or Tronstad are near as well. What will happen next year if all three were to leave on a free? We're currently being outspent by thirteen Championship clubs this summer, including all three promoted sides (yes, even Charlton). Out of the ten teams who have spent less than us, you can argue that some of them already have strong squads (Leicester, Middlesbrough, Sheffield Utd.). It leaves us (theoretically) to compete with the likes of Sheffield Wednesday, Preston, Portsmouth, Oxford and Hull to avoid being dragged in a relegation battle this season. Our signings so far are speculative at best, with two players arriving from a relegated Belgian team, one from a team currently under transfer embargo (Hull) and the last one not being a regular starter for a mid-table Portuguese team. 2 Quote

RoyWegerlesLeftToe Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Just to put things in perspective, if you look at ligue 1 in France then this summer we've spent more than half the teams there (including psg ). Quote

DeeCee Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Never been a Dolan fan but admittedly he works hard, isn't hampered by injuries and does all the things you'd want from him except deliver consistently. Fact is, he isn't top quality. If we hadn't constantly low balled him he could have been a decent if not spectacular member of this years squad. Good luck to him. 1 Quote

USABlue Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago I am surprised, yer pleased for him, that he found that deal. Can't but wonder if there is more to it. He is not crap but he is not that good either. Get an end product out of him and he will be a right good un. Good luck to him. Quote
