dallydally Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Perhaps Gudjohnsson was signed as a centre back? Quote
Backroom Tom Posted September 1 Backroom Posted September 1 Thatโs a lot of money for Hyam but still a terrible deal given the timing and lack of replacement.ย 7 Quote
sharpysharps86 Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Let me get this straight, our CB choices are now: McLoughlin who only joined this summer Wharton who's just returned from a seriously long term injury Carter who can't last more than 20 mins before picking up another injury Miller who was signed as a right back to replace Brittain With McLoughlin suspended for the next game who's playing CB against Watford away? Wharton and Miller? Christ. A complete an utter mess. 6 Quote
Eddie Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Hyam was definitely leaving, so I get the idea of selling him...I just don't get why they've waited until the window is virtually closed.ย Maybe they'll pull something off? But I doubt it.ย Hyam is a good, but unspectacular CB at this level. His best ability is the fact that he's never injured or suspended, but he's easily replaceable from a quality perspective.ย 2 1 Quote

tugayislegend Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Who will play CB back in the next game? Mcloughlin suspended from red card, no hyam.ย This season will be a relegation battle for sure Quote
Tugayisgod Posted September 1 Posted September 1 (edited) If Ismael didn't know what he let himself in for, he certainly does now. Wouldn't be surprised to see him walk and who could blame himย Just fuck off the lot of youย Edited September 1 by Tugayisgod 2 Quote

I suspect Riordan recall in January will be Hyam's replacement....."it'll be like a new signing". Quote

Angry_Pirate Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Let's all just make sure we sufficiently "express ourselves" at the next home game. Quote
Backroom DE. Posted September 1 Backroom Posted September 1 (edited) If it happened earlier in the window, fair enough. Last year of contract and we aren't willing to pay the going rate for a decent, experienced Championship player, so it is what it is.ย Now, though? Disgraceful and just proves it's all about cutting costs, pocketing cash and arrogantly assuming Ismael will emulate JDT and Eustace in performing miracles - despite a shit win percentage thus far, 4 defeats in 5 to start the season and a significantly less experienced squad than his predecessors.ย Either total idiocy or managed decline. Take your pick. Choose both if you're feeling especially fiesty.ย Edited September 1 by DE. 8 Quote

roversfan99 Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Even based on my low expectations of this club, this window and this deadline day has fallen well beyond it. We are responding to losing our best CB and being left with only 3, 2 with big injury issues, by loaning (which throughout the summer we have been against) with a crap utility player who sat on the bench for a League 1 club last season. I have underplayed our likelihood of relegation in the past as there is some right shit in this league near the bottom but I cant forsee any other alternative reality. Weve stripped the squad of the majority of its quality and experience and have a dud as manager.ย And for people who have said its been a good window, or that things are aligned, have a word with yourself. Ismael didnt want a summer of "transition" and such a turnover of players, so many players have left that he wanted to stay and weve not managed one single contract extension. We will have signed 10 instead of the 6 or 7 he asked for and will still be massively lacking in various areas. We have dipped into the loan market purely out of panic today. He wont say anything because hes failed at his last 3 clubs and is sat on a cosy contract, and fair enough, most would sit and take it. Venkys and Suhail, fuck off. And anyone who thinks that Gestede and Owen have a good plan and are competent, again, the proof has been in the pudding. 4 Quote

Bbrovers2288 Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Iโm not hyams biggest fan but he was fairly dependable so to sell all our British core for absolute gambles stinks to high heaven. This has changed from this morning when it was agreed he would be here till January and then perhaps sold, only because money is on offer now have they agreed to this but itโs such bad business to not have a backup plan. I feared for us before but now Iโm certain, we are going downย 1 Quote

Mercer Posted September 1 Posted September 1 A mythical transfer budget of ยฃ5m!!! Think we will find we are better than budget by about ยฃ10m!!! ie budgeted net spend ยฃ5m, actual net spend -ยฃ5m. Looking forward to the refreshing and honest views of Ismael!!! ย 2 Quote

I don't know why foreign has to be rubbish, but we wouldn't have to go far to get a defender of Hyam's quality and we'd be furious if we were signing him for 2.7m with 12 months left on his deal. The timing is the bad part.ย 3 Quote
