chaddyrovers Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) A very good performance 1st half as my half time summary posted said. The first 15 minutes or so we can carry that second half. We created several opportunities to attack the Everton backline until the final ball wasn't good enough. After we made 8 subs around the 60 mins then another 3 15 mins later, we became abit disjointed and our high performance dipped abit but the understanding of what their roles were and how we wanted to play where still there to see. We still created some good chances. Tyjon did play a lovely good pass to Millarkey-Matthews who couldn't get the shot off. Karbgo look lively. overall, We had an identity to the team, style and how we want to play, we were well organised and drilled tactically. The players understand their roles within the team. what Ismael wants. Ismael spent time post match on the pitch speaking with Igor Tyjon about his performance. Cautiously optimistic for the fore coming season well worth the tenner it cost to attend and even bought the away shirt post game, Its really smart looking Toth look good, Brittain, Hyam and Wharton very good. Cantwell looks a different player to last one, De Neve look good. took his goal well. my match of the man was Todd Cantwell. Edited 5 hours ago by chaddyrovers 2 Quote

So overall a better first eleven. I’d be fairly equal, albeit in putting a lot of weight on Sammy being much better that what we’ve got. If we added a striker and a CB we’d be in a very good position IF we don’t lose anyone. Edited 5 hours ago by Hasta 1 Quote

Think he could develop into something, made one superb run back to block an Everton shot for a corner. deffo has something about him, one to develop and see how he does in. one to keep an eye on for the future 2 Quote

I almost feel like you learn more from the starting 11 as opposed to the actual game. In the few positions where we have 2 options at full fitness, it seems like De Neve, Ohashi and Ribeiro are first choice above Kargbo, Gueye and Pickering. Not so sure about the latter personally as I think Pickering is slightly better but not much in. Ribiero is comfortably better than Pickering who was flatter than usual today, and a bit hesitant. I don’t get people calling Kargbo raw, absolutely fantastic player. Live wire. Have to start him, and get another outlet on the right. Tronstad Travis and Cantwell as good a three as you find in the league. Young boys did great today! Tyjon dropped a few shoulders, and looked class. Milarky was impressive too. Beto was taking the piss out of Hyam first half. But we won’t see many betos in the championship Feel a lot better after that. Edited 4 hours ago by Fraserkirky 6 Quote

If that's what you mean mate 1 Quote
Bohinen1983 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Thought Buckley did well enough when he came on, he really can ping a brilliant long range pass.. More telling though was he came on in the second batch of subs.. I'd rather keep Buckley as a back-up than Foreshaw.. 3 Quote
neophox Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I would say we now have four capable starting centre halfs in the team...Carter can also play right back if needed. Quote
neophox Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Igor Tyjon will be a class player. Hope we can keep him for a long time. 4 Quote

I wasn’t a huge fan when he first joined, as he often stood motionless in games and looked unsure, but he’s grown on me. I like him. He doesn’t dodge questions and his interviews don’t appear hurried. Quote

You never know how the team will get on until end of November in my experience. We pretty much know…that’s when the death spiral starts every year. Squad depth shows how thin it is Quote
AvRover Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Given our spending levels and the calibre of the administration all that's really been proven today is that we're not utter chaotic dross destined to go down. Unless we get a bit of luck, once again we'll be nowhere near those Play Offs! Let's just be grateful given the situation behind the scenes that we're still solvent and able to field a competent, serviceable squad. Quote

Neal Posted 47 minutes ago Posted 47 minutes ago Think everyone is getting a bit carried away after today. It's obviously good that they've put in a performance against a prem side but the championship is a totally different kettle of fish than a meaningless pre season friendly. Reserve your judgement after the first 90 mins of the season. Fingers crossed they over achieve again. Quote
riverholmes Posted 41 minutes ago Posted 41 minutes ago Nice to see Litherland come in and play. He comes highly recommended by regular U21 watchers for his ball-playing abilities. I would also like to see Edmondson given a chance but looks like a loan move might be his best bet at the moment. No Garrett, Duru, Leonard or Vale. Presume, the latter three are injured still? Garrett looks like he's heading out, which I think is a shame as I think he could be a useful utility man. I'm not sure about Montgomery as a defender, though he may well surprise me. Throwing him into an unfamiliar RB role and assuming he can cover the first team brings back memories of Tyler Magloire's right back exploits. That said, Montgomery has done ok so far. Quote

With all the respect in the world... If he can't make it in league 1 and league 2 he shouldn't be anywhere near playing in a Rovers kit. He's not good enough. He's had multiple chances and not taken them. Someone else deserves a go. 1 Quote
