Hmm, neither Travis nor Tronstad are sitting players, both get forward. And conversely from the looks of it Tavares seems more of a deeper player. So not really sure what you're saying here?

They are classed as defensive midfielders whose job it is to break up play not attack. Hardly ever get into the box! You don’t need two of those in the same team.IMG_8824.png.c90d2a943ef968035ef5806b7bec5ad3.pngIMG_8826.png.1640c8c166634ee63fbb5e129f1764b1.png

A stonking and unexpected win, enjoy the winnings @Mercer

felt a loss today would start building pressure

Ha ha. First time ever I have taken a punt on your pedictions. Put a wedge on at 9/4. Well done Merce. Don't make any more though lol

Today's been good.

First and foremost Rovers won!  Should do wonders for spirit and confidence.  Beat Ipswich next Saturday and we might just have reason to be much more hopeful for this season.

Secondly, a nice tidy win worthy of an extra bottle of a nice red tonight!

Really solid performance.

Encouraging early signs for both Morishita and Gudjohnsen, who, aside from one lazy pass to Kargbo, looked fairly classy when he came on.

I think Alebiosu might be an upgrade on Britain.

Wrexham have spent a fortune, then I looked at their 11 today and it looked absolutely dire. Would love them to drop straight back down

I certainly dont think it is dire but many of their new signings didnt start either for fitness reasons or because Parkinson presumably tried to be loyal to the side that won at Millwall.

Hyam, Ben Sheaf, Josh Windass, Nathan Broadhead, their new left wing back who they signed from Empoli and Issa Kabore all didnt start.

They need to all gel and I suspect they dont have the manager needed to get the best of them but they certainly have some good players.

Hes started really encouragingly and I really like the look of him.

But Brittain was an absolute stand out for all of last season. No way is he an upgrade. Nor is that a criticism of him 5 games in.

Wow, not just the win but the performance.

Tavaeres is a hell.of a player but his pass success percentage is dire. Needs a lot of work.

That's my only negative.

Wharton and Carter were immense.

This week the subs worked really well including the switch to 3 at the back.

The discipline with which we saw out the past ten minutes of playing time was something we haven't seen in a very long time.

And yes Gudjonsson looks the real deal.

What a lovely goal too

I think Tavares will be able to play his way up to speed. He has clearly got something...

Nzonzi took a while lol

I'll bite in that i didn't think he anything like as bad as the comments on here suggest (today only). Will really struggle against teams that don't give him any space/time and needs Tronstad (or similar) next to him but i would rather him than Buckley (given our other CM signing is expected to be the replacement for Travis)

He couldn't tie Buckleys shoe laces. He is a massive downgrade so far. He may improve as he gets used to this league - he bloody well needs to and quickly

I don't think Taveres and Tronstad work very well as a pairing, as they're both defensive midfielders.

Assume Hickman, and later Baradji, were brought in to break up the pairing but you'd be putting Tronstad in ahead of Taveres as it stands right now.

One outstanding cross field pass (straight onto the foot of the on running Alebiosu) aside, he brought nothing to the game.

Corry Evans MK2: 5 yard passes, no tackles, jogs about a bit.

Parkinson is the weak link now for them, proven to be a bad manager in this league. I expect the Americans will figure that out fairly quickly and they'll end up up there

Didn’t watch today due to family commitments but pleasing to read Gudjohnsen did well especially. Also Wharton doing so well and ultimately getting the full game under his belt. He’s now an experienced centre half as he said in his interview it just so worrying that every game we must pray him and Carter don’t get injured. Both players are certainly due some good luck injury wise, is it all luck though or do they need Paul McGrath style training regimes 🤨

Really worrying Tronny came off at his request although VI played it down, he’s so crucial to us and it’s hurting he won’t be here much longer. Tavares worries me although we can only hope he’s a slow burner and adapting still.

Windass and Broadhead aren't going to start if their 2 other signings started the games liketoday

It depends who and where you are playing

Exactly, apart from maybe size he bears no comparison to Nzonzi football wise.

I don't know, as a similar languid style and likes to play one touch. Very reminiscent to Nzonzi for me stylistically. Just unfortunately he keeps losing the ball and missing tackles.

That said, as others have mentioned, it does seem to be a pace of the game thing. Could improve over time. But I wouldn't have started him today, and wouldn't start him next week.
