miqaayil Posted yesterday at 16:40 Posted yesterday at 16:40 may sound weird or overly optimistic ..win by 2 goals Quote
philipl Posted yesterday at 18:23 Posted yesterday at 18:23 We pushed West Brom and Brum so.the least I.expect is for us to be competitive. Nice selection dilemmas for VI - Carter and Wharton surely deserve another start and Carter pace is an asset but hard on McLoughlin and Miller. Up front 5 into 4 doesn't go so one of Yuki, Royo, Cantwell, Hedges and Gudjonsson starts on the bench. If he gets on, Sammy has to fight for his place back so I suspect we will be adding to the Ipswich early season draw tally. Quote

davulsukur Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Szmodics, who would walk into our starting 11, was on the bench for them in their last game. Which shows you what we are up against. I think we'll get beat 0-1, but we'll push them all the way. 1 Quote
joey_big_nose Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago (edited) I am going to this one... gone from considering us having no chance to quite hopeful after the last game. I think Ipswich will want to play on the front foot which will suit us as we would like to counter. I am pretty happy with all our players at the moment except Tavares who seems a liability at present in terms of the way he loses the ball and misses tackles in key areas. I anticipate teams in their preparation will start to really target him as he seems to want more time than he really has, and struggles to compete physically. He could grow out of it as he acclimatises to the Championship, but with Gudjonsson staking a claim creating a lot of competition up top I think it's a great opportunity to try Cantwell out deeper. Team for me : Toth Alebiousu Carter Wharton Riberio Cantwell Tronstad Ohashi Mori Hedges Gudjonsen Subs : Pears, Miller, McLoughlin, Pickering, Tavares, Kargbo, Gueye, Tyjon, TGH Edited 22 hours ago by joey_big_nose Quote
J*B Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Cantwell can’t tackle. There’s no place for him in holding midfield. 5 Quote
Andy Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Yeah, you're asking too much of Tronstad there, we'd be overrun. If Gudjohnsen becomes as good as we hope, I could see Ohashi playing on the left, as an inside forward. Or even behind the striker, with Cantwell wide. You then have Mori on the right, with Kargbo as an impact sub. From an attacking perspective, it's a definite upgrade on last season. 1 Quote

Cantwell offers a lot more of a tackle than Tavares imo. I have been quite impressed with Cantwell this season in terms of getting stuck in... born out by the stats so far this season (average tackles per game). Quote

This is a classic preconceived opinion of someone because of the type of player he is. Cantwell offers more than you think in that regard. Anyway, on this game it will be exactly the same as the last home game after a decent away win. Rovers 0 Ipswich 2 1 Quote

But then do we want to to risk losing cantwell to injury when he can be utilised more in a forward role in certain games? Sitting cantwell in the middle of the park is a gamble imo Quote
sharpysharps86 Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago As good as a win it was for Rovers at the weekend, Ipswich appear to have clicked now, albeit after playing a very poor form Sheffield United side. I think this will be another home 0-2 defeat. Lots of effort on show but a lack of quality in the final third. Suspect Ismael will start with the same 11 that started the Watford game. 1 Quote

Feed the Yak Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago I wonder if something like this would work with Cantwell dropping deeper? Toth miller carter Wharton Alebiosu Hedges Cantwell Tronstad morashita Ohashi Gudjohnson I thought we looked decent when we changed system to hold on on Saturday, could be useful against the better sides? 1 Quote
Bronzed A Donis Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I don't know what kind of team we are yet but our 1st XI is competitive, its when those dark nights Sat, Tues cime that worries me, nothing in the Championship should scare us at home. Set up to hit them on the break and a bit of after Lord Mayor's show for Ipswich 1-1. Quote
chaddyrovers Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Same starting 11. That team got us into Saturday winning position and why change it Cantwell is a 10 and his performances from there and Captain has been outstanding so far Quote
Ricky Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Ipswich looked very good on Friday but that was their first win of the season. They’ve only lost one but draws have been the issue for them. I’d take a draw now but saying that I would have taken a draw away at Watford. Quote
philipl Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago 6 Sheffield United assists. Only Szmodics didn't turn his gift into a goal. Quote
