I just cant fathom the logic behind sticking in a young midfielder who isnt good enough full stop, in at a position he is unfamiliar with, purely to have a right footer at centre back.

yet again completely and utter ignoring the fact that I did actually mentioned a centre back in the same post in Tom Atcheson

I would start with the same team.

I personally thought Ohashi and Gudjohnsson battled well yesterday, the latters time will come.

We need a win.

Missed another really good chance did Gudjonson, which I'm actually seeing as a positive.

As the forwards union always say, you're more worried if you're not getting the chance in the first place. His movement in the box has been good  enough, we need to persevere with him.

Hes been an absolute liability on the ball though, regularly losing the ball leading to dangerous counter attacks. Was one of the goals v Swansea as well as the Stoke one a result of his piss poor play?

There was a few times in the first half yesterday when we attacked where he didnt really make much movement. Even when he did have that half chance, had he moved earlier it could have been clear cut.

I would stick with the same team if possible. If not and Miller than I would start with Tom Atcheson or Kristi Montgomery at right centre back. Shame Carter not ready.

Sheffield played a back 3 at the weekend

not a fan personally of back 3 myself but without Cantwell I think 2 up front is the way to go

Reading that gave me the shivers.

Firstly, I think it would be idiocy to play three at the back without Carter or Miller being available.  The folly of letting Hyam leave without replacement heightens by the hour.

Secondly, SU would have Atcheson and Montgomery for breakfast.  Only seen Atcheson play once and he was nowhere near ready and tbh not sure he ever will be from what I saw.  As for Montgomery, ffs, this is a lad who last season was scrambling around Marine and Chorley and in a matter of months some think he is a latter day Paul Madeley who played anywhere and everywhere for Leeds and England.  I think Montgomery is one of the most over-hyped players ever to come through the ranks at Rovers and is a pale, pale shadow of Jason Lowe - enough said!!!

Gudjohnsen didnt "battle well" yesterday. His incompetence to keep the ball led to a few dangerous counter attacks which has been a common theme across his 3 starts.

I thought he was in the 'donkey' class when I first saw him and I haven't seen anything in the slightest to change my mind.  IMO, we aint half signed some real dross in the summer window including the 'star' we chased all summer (Morishita) who seemingly has been 'sent to Coventry'.

Think this will be men against boys and another desperate defeat for Rovers to cement our place in the bottom three.

Far more concerned with what is happening on the Pitch Chaddy tbh.

Even if we do manage to win,its going to be nothing more than a season of survival, worry and frustration.

The chickens will come firmly home to roost on Tuesday.

Yea if we can't grind out a result Tuesday Saturday we can start packing our bags for league one.

We've one of the weakest strike forces in the Championship, which makes us one of the favourites for relegation. Ill be there Tuesday, but it's becoming depressing.

What other options do we have??? He is literally our only choice, he's shown glimpses and like all strikers works on confidence...He needs a goal.

I reckon an academy striker, could do better than this mob.

I havent seen these glimpses. His recent games came off the back of scoring away against France, but he hasnt appeared boosted in confidence. Its not even him totally messing up those 2 sitters in the home games, his general play has been so poor. His inability to hold the ball up and control it keeps leading to opposition counter attacks including one or two goals (the Stoke one, I feel like one of the Swansea goals) coming from him losing it.

Obviously we cant and I am not saying that we should give up on him, but Ohashi should start up front.

Our academy doesn't seem capable of producing them for some reason.

Pity we couldn't have signed his dad, who scored a few for Chelsea.

You forgot the Swansea game, Gudjohnsson chested it to a Swansea player, who put a through ball into the path of a Swansea striker, who stuck it in the back of the net.

With Miller likely to be missing tomorrow, I'm struggling to see a way in which Rovers can play 3 at the back, which is a shame given the shape seemed to work ok for an hour at Coventry. Who knew that selling a regular CB on deadline day with no planned replacement would lead to such a scenario 🙃.

I think Ismael will be forced to revert to a back 4. Expecting to see something like this:

                                  Toth

Alebiosu    McLoughlin   Wharton   Ribeiro

                     TGH         Tronstad

 Morishita             Ohashi              Hedges

                          Gudjohnsen

Rovers 0 - 2 Sheff United. Wilder has more often than not had the better of Rovers in the past, and I see no reason for that to change here.

Pay peanuts and you get monkeys!

Wouldn't surprise me if they ask Miller to play with painkillers for this game, having a back three seem to suit the team better. Sheffield Utd has played with a 3-4-2-1 system in the last three matches, I say we match them and try to hit them on the break whenever possible:

In possession (3-4-2-1)                                                        Out of possession (4-4-2)

                                       Toth                                                                                              Toth

Miller         Wharton      McLoughlin                                 Miller         Wharton      McLoughlin   Hedges

Alebiosu            TGH          Tronstad               Hedges                       Alebiosu        TGH           Tronstad      De Neve

                         Kargbo          De Neve                                                                    Kargbo        Ohashi

                                      Ohashi

Our attack is utter crap at the moment with Cantwell injured so might as well go for directness and pace in Kargbo and De Neve as the two "number 10s" that can attack the flanks or half spaces during transitions. We had a bit of success getting forward on the flanks vs Coventry (especially with Alebiosu) so hopefully that can continue and we manage to put in better crosses and attack the box with more players.

I'd go with that line up but 1-1 scoreline with pears coming off the bench and scoring.
