If I had any criticism of him here it would have been that his finishing wasn't clinical enough but I thought that would come with more game time. Maybe it’s just me but I expect players in the Blue and White to be chasing down lost causes. Quote

Fair point but with strikers Id rather have them generally in the right areas where they can cause the most damage. All crying over spilt milk now though, hindsight will show us whether it was a good move to let him go at that price or not. Quote
davulsukur Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Is that the deadline passed now? Any signings we make now can't play against Hull? Quote

Torgeir Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago We should've had at least two more signings by now. Nicko saying on X we're 'Trying to find an experienced striker ... and more'. Trying... Quote

roversfan99 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago But "of course" we were prepared coming into the transfer window. With a plan to get most of our business done by the Hull game, whats happened?! I dont get why we need an experienced Championship striker. I feel like that will leave us with sub par plodders like Lyndon Dykes. 1 Quote

Rossy Rover Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Apparently Elie Youan is going to be next through the door. Hibs forward. Not sure how I feel about that one at all Quote

Why would we even want Championship experience when we did our best in the summer to make sure we got rid of the majority of it from our squad? With the wages we supposedly pay the only Championship experience we're getting are reserves from mid-table teams or broken down has-beens well past their expiry date. Hasn't exactly worked out so far. 2 Quote

MarkBRFC Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Ellie Youan has been linked a couple of times. Very quick but doesn't score many, although scored twice last weekend and has played as more of a winger in his career. Out of contract in the summer so probably wouldn't cost much. Not sure I see this one happening. 1 Quote

roversfan99 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago A lot of question marks over his attitude and work rate. Quote

Hibs are trying to bring in Cadamateri which suggests they think one of their forwards may be moving on. He's got pace I suppose. Quote
DutchRover Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago (edited) I wanted Youan when we were linked last year, not prolific but plays all across the front three, mostly from left or as a striker. First two years at Hibs in 22/23 and 23/24 were very good. His best recent run for Hibs came in December last year when he was playing striker, couple of goals and an assist, but then was injured for pretty much rest of season. Not an inspiring signing, but a decent back-up forward imo, scored a couple last weekend vs Kilmarnock as a striker. Edited 13 hours ago by DutchRover 1 Quote
B16Rover Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago A punt on an injury prone, allegedly lazy and disruptive Frenchman in a position we don't use in our tactics? Glad we're 1 step ahead this January 7 Quote

bluebruce Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago 6 hours ago, KentExile said: I don't think anyone is saying Leonard should have been kept as a starter. If they are then I disagree. But he would have been a much more useful option from the bench than Gueye. According to Peterborough fans, he does run himself into the ground for them (He’s a very good player and he’s only going to get better, I like him, his work rate is phenomenal), maybe not to Ohashi levels, but by the sounds of it, loaning him rather than selling him, would have enabled us to bring him back and rest Ohashi for the last 20-30 mins of games and not change too much with our set up. My point was only that his goals record there isn't as good as people are making out. When adjusted for the league it's likely worse than the goals scored by a striker who is criticised for not scoring enough, and his work rate may have improved but it would have to be by a hell of a lot to be on Ohashi's level so it's another area he isn't as good. So I'm not bothered we sold him as it stands. He may well be better than Gueye, but the failure wasn't selling Leonard (who probably helped fund Gudjohnsen who is better). The failure was in not also shifting and upgrading on Gueye. But yes I wouldn't have objected to loaning him instead, unless it meant no Gudjohnsen. Although as we have seen, these loaning clubs often seem less likely to give our loanees regular minutes than when they sign them permanently. I remember Fisher getting no game time at all I think when we loaned him to MK Don's or AFC Wimbledon. Then they signed him the next summer for free and immediately he became their first choice. 1 Quote
