Even so, I'm glad they're trying to sort it out .

Are they though? Or is it a basless statement like the Lewis O'Brien appeal to try and hoodwink the easily fooled?

"I wasnt best pleased you set me on fire but thanks for the tweet clarifying youll piss on me to try and put it out" Forever grateful.

Why would Sheffield Wednesday not already have the barcodes?

They'll contain customer (fan) information.

It will however be an extremely simple process, most probably a simple txt file that's imported. It could, and usually would be automated though and shouldn't require any manual efforts at all really.

I suspect our IT department, like most aspects of the club is not fit for purpose, probably a couple of inexperienced/under qualified members of staff.

They'll be digital tickets processed through a third party provider, I doubt there'll be any contact between our sales department & the barcode man at Hillsborough

Aside from the complete ineptitude of the whole operation, I can't see any reason for this latest ticket fiasco other than them trying to spite the fans because of the boycott.

These Sheffield fixtures always have a big take-up due to the distance. Since Venky FC don't get anything from away matches (league) they'll be spewing that people are keen to get to a match that isn't at Ewood.

Whatever the reason, it's just another example of how they are not fit for purpose.

If it's anything to do with the boycott then it is pure idiocy, as the vast majority of those still buying tickets won't boycott anyway. If anything this would drive more people to do so out of feeling disrespected.

The club is run by a shower of twats bathed in their own self aggrandisement and ineptitude up to their moronic eyeballs.

I think I've covered most bases with that.

FECK EM.

VENKYS OUT!

Not that it makes much difference, but I’d wager this wouldn’t have happened if Waggott was still here.

I don't think there's any more to it than them just cutting corners, as per.

As this game straddles the Christmas period and shop/ticket office closures someone down there, who probably has never bought an away ticket in their life, will have come to a decision that it was a whole lot easier for them to just stop selling on 23rd when they were shutting down for Xmas and then they could forget about it and come back in the New Year with the Wrexham game to occupy them.

They won't have stopped for a second to think about inconvenience to fans, or that there would be a lot of people unable to commit over a week in advance, especially during the Christmas period, or that the Middlesbrough game/performance/result might affect decisions, or that plans change at the 11th hour.

They just treat fans as an inconvenience and appear amazed when their decision making gets called out. In familiar fashion we get a hastily cobbled together 'statement' with no name to it making a number of excuses and offering no assurances but trying to point the finger of blame away from Ewood.

They are good at that part of things.

Just stuff that never happens anywhere else. But that's because all other clubs are invested in helping their supporters and ensuring as many as possible get to games. Clearly that isn't the remit at Ewood these days, and it shows.

What a load of old bollocks the ‘processing deadlines’ is, we must be the only league club to have this issue.

Anyway after a couple of good results and a fixture we’d be targeting for a win I expect we’ll be down to earth with a bump here with a total non performance and a loss.

Going for a Charlton style 3-0 drubbing and I hope to be massively wrong

My theory is that pre Christmas rovers had some unsold tickets and didn't know if they would sell them. Because they have to buy them upfront they didn't buy any to cover for a last minute rush for last minute planning or a good result against Boro. With no-one on site didn't realise they had sold out and no-one to get extra tickets . when Wednesday gets in touch about fans wanting tickets had to find a excuse and come up with a load of bs again.

100% it wouldn't because whatever people feel about him rightly and maybe wrongly the very last ounce of any semblance of experienced football administration left the building.

Now a complete trio of chancers are running it with free reign and nobody to challenge them.

The brotherhood of 3 you might say and not one of them has the club nor town in their blood.

Similar to my theory.

There wasn't many left of the initial allocation if the online seat player was accurate. They didn't want to have to buy a large extra batch upfront and wanted to try and get people buying tickets for home games instead.

So they just took Sheff Weds off sale.

Why haven't the remaining few hundred from the original batch never gone back on sale ????

And if it was always deemed an all ticket affair with sales stopping before Christmas for away fans why are Sheff Weds seemingly unaware of this ?

Swag was certainly more PR savvy than these arrogant fools, but there were plenty of ticketing debacles whilst he was here. Closing the Blackburn End for a first team game being a particular highlight.

Not sure how this latest fiasco fits into cost cutting though which was SW's speciality.

More down to spite or nobody in the office knowing what to do and having no one to ask about it.

Those travelling from distance will need clarity sooner rather later on whether tickets will be made available

I look forward therefore to a club statement around 7pm

It would have been a big ask, because it's an evening match and the tickets are £30, but the club should have tried to sell out the Leppings Lane end for this. It currently only holds about 4,000. It looks like we've sold about 3/4 of the upper tier, based on what I could see was for sale when I bought my tickets.

This is a must win match, during the festive period, against a team that are already relegated with nothing to play for. Our away form is also much better than our home form. We shifted 5,500 tickets for the game against PNE which was on telly and an evening game, we should have shown some ambition and really tried to drum up demand for this game. Maybe even offered a few free coaches. We tend to chuck games at home when there's a big home crowd, but big noisy away followings seem to have a positive impact. Maybe I'm reading too much into it.
