Can't say I'm excited about the possibility, he'd be well out his depth

I might be wrong, but it has Paul Ince II over if he turns up here.

Age old tactic. Float around the worst possible fit as a candidate then any hopeless case appointed looks good by comparison.  Short odds on Coleman? Really? What's Mick McCarthy doing these days? We'll end up with either some poor sap wannabe, a complete unknown from League Z in Luxembourg or a guy whose been out of work for a decade. The days of Hughes, Souness, Allardyce and Kenny are so far behind us it's untrue. Barrel meet Scraper, Scraper this is Barrel.

I know some on here are saying they don’t care as much anymore but it angers me seeing the bucket list of shyte being linked with the job - it’s like they have purposely put together a list of coaches / managers you would never dream of appointing - Coleman, Jewell, the Reading guy who I’ve never heard of etc

That shirt looks old too so this would make sense.

He's holding this seasons shirt.

it would`nt end well for savage here,he is`nt one to keep his mouth shut and when he`s met with denials, lies, silence and no transfer budget from pasha, gestede and the chicken brethren,he`ll walk away, the only bonus being,he`ll likely yell from the rooftops what it`s really like behind the scenes at brockhall and ewood

It’s not Goulon, nor Dahlin or Varner.

No clue who it is but imagine someone just doing a promo for something

Maybe it’s been said, but Leam Richardson has been linked. Never heard of him.

Because he's from Blackburn and he used to play for Stanley.

They love a lazy local connection.

Why would I judge him by anything other than his spell in the same League that we're in?

What he may or may not have done in the Lower Leagues in France is frankly completely irrelevant.

Not sure what he's done in Ligue 1  but obviously it didnt translate over here.

Edit: It would appear from Wiki that in Ligue 1 he took over a team that had finished 7th the previous season and left them in 8th a year later.

Sounds solid rather than earth shattering.

No, it isn't solid. It's pretty dumb, to be honest.

He's had several years of being very successful at several clubs - a couple of whom play at a higher standard than we do.

He had one very brief spell with a recently relegated side (who had just come off being arguably the worst side in Premier League history), had no input into their squad, and struggled slighty. Even then, it was mostly draws.

What's more, he's shown himself to be very capable of getting smaller sides to compete at a higher level, something that we are in desperate need of.

So, if you want to judge a manager because they have one failure on their resume, or because England is all that matters, then by all means go ahead. But as a club currently sitting towards the bottom of the Championship, I think you will quickly run out of suitable candidates if you apply that kind of filter. Jose Mourinho isn't turning up. Then again, Mourinha has had a couple of bad spells at clubs, including in England, so I guess we wouldn't want him anyway.

Savage has the passion, not sure about the brains!

I meant that at best Still's record is solid (at one Club) rather than being outstanding.

Im looking at his overall record and wondering what the attraction is at all tbh. He appears to have had one very good spell for 9 games in Ligue 2.

Then he's moved up to Ligue 1 and finished at his first Club with 2 wins in 14. At his second Club he took over an outfit in that had finished 7th the previous season and left them in 8th.

Inconclusive at best and he's only had one crack in English football,co-incidentally in the same division as us, (the Championship)and been an absolute disaster with a better squad than ours.

You wouldnt look at him twice if he was English born and bred and not Belgian with a Coaching background in France. Your argument would hold water if he'd previously held several jobs in England and been very successful in general but bombed at Southampton. Some manager's faces dont fit at certain Clubs.

There was however obviously something about his personality or methods that didn't translate to English football at Southampton. It might not all have been his fault but it would be insanely reckless for us to take a punt on him again  straight away before he's shown he can operate over here.
