You are not the only one. One questions just how good he is after watching that dross including 2 Championship strikers who apparently are rated higher than him !!!

Here's a novel idea..let's wait and see.

So far he's played part of one friendly and scored one goal.

Not a bad start all things considered.

GOODWILLIE: PREM SWITCH A NO-BRAINER

By Martyn Ziegler, Chief Reporter, Press Association Sport

Blackburn Rovers' new Scottish striker David Goodwillie said it was an easy decision to turn his back on Rangers - because he wants to face the likes of Manchester United every week rather than St Mirren.

The 22-year-old moved from Dundee United for a fee thought to be £2million plus £800,000 in potential add-ons - and in the face of concerted efforts by Rangers to sign the Scottish Professional Footballers' Association young player of the year.

Goodwillie said today: ``When you come here and see the set-up at Blackburn you understand why players would turn their back on the Old Firm.

``In the end it was not that difficult a decision to make, I wanted a fresh start and I'm really looking forward to it.

``In the Scottish Premier League you are playing against teams like St Mirren every other week - to play against teams like Arsenal and Manchester United instead every week is just a different class.''

Goodwillie has already been put through the usual Rovers squad initiation - being forced to sing a song in public, in his case choosing an old number by The Drifters after scoring in a pre-season game at Kilmarnock.

He revealed: ``I did that at a hotel in Kilmarnock, it was a bit embarrassing but I got through that - I sang an old one, Saturday Night at the Movies.

``The boys here have been unbelievable with me, I've only been here for a few days but they speak to me as if they had known me for years. I feel really at home.''

Goodwillie has made just one appearance for the Scotland senior team but believes his move south will help him make a name for himself at international level.

``I think this will boost my chances of playing for the national team,'' the striker added.

``I look at players like Charlie Adam and Steven Fletcher who have done well in the Premiership and they inspire you because if they can do it, you can do it too.''

Rovers boss Steve Kean has put his faith in Goodwillie filling the gap left in his striker ranks - Roque Santa Cruz has returned to Manchester City, Benjani Mwaruwari is out of contract and has rejected a new offer, while Nikola Kalinic is expected to join Ukrainian side Dnipro.

Kean said: ``Last year our highest goalscorer had just six goals so we have to improve on that if we are to get into the top half of the table.

``David is a natural finisher and can score any type of goal - outside the box, tap-ins, with his head and he is someone able to create a goal for themselves out of nothing.

``Sometimes it's just about that little bit of magic.''

It seems Goodwillie's memory isn't his strong point, he sang the song before Kilmarnock unless he sang the same one again.

The team spirit with the lads seems great though which is good news.

Yeah, it's good to read of the good feeling amongst the players.

A united dressing room will always succeed over a divided one.

I'm looking forward to seeing how David does for us...

kean not putting too much pressure on goodwillie then? think it will take a few months for goodwillie to adjust to a totally different level of football in the premiership, cant put all our hopes on his shoulders just yet, in time he may be a good 'un.

But it wasn't him who said it was after the game, it was the reporter

And there it is for all to see..disgraceful really, just hope you can make the step up Goodwillie, you may be the saviour of our season.

After considering many song ideas and taking into account the handicap of our fans never signing anything remotely difficult to catch on I feel below is the only one we can do. Other than ending up with some "Goodwillie wooooaaah, Goodwillie woooaaaah" effort.

to the tune of the old united ronaldo song "he plays on the left.."

He scores on the left,

He scores on the riiight,

Because he's a Goodwillie,

He keeps scoring all night.

Made some minor changes but it could catch on.

so we have the next young Batistuta and young Ronney upfront, but rather then costing £100 million at 22 and 23 like the real ones would have, they cost £5 million.

This Kean guy could be a genius.

I'm sure somebody mentioned the old "Shearer wonderland" song for Goodwillie. I thought it would've gone something like-

We've got a Goodwillie,

We've got a Goodwillie,

Walking along, singing our song,

Walking in a Willie wonderland!

I'm surprised no one has created a chant for Goodwillie based on the old version of the Hokey Pokey, which goes:

I put my right hand in,

I put my right hand out,

In out, in out.

shake it all about.

As I pretend to be a gentleman, I won't make the obvious changes to adapt it to Goodwillie. But "he" instead of "I" and "wand" instead of "hand" are obvious starting points.

I'm sure the more camp members of the crowd would like that one.

Bob Dewhursts first effort way back in this thread is by far the best GW chant though.

Watching Goodwille today I see what was meant about his fitness. He appears to me to be carrying at least a stone of extra weight. None of Dunny's chicken for him.

I thought he looked quite lazy. I hope it's just down to fitness.

Clearly knows where the goal is though and appears he will shoot on sight when he gets the chance. He was unlucky with his shot which was inches wide of the upright.

What I would like to know Al is how the hell do professional footballers, who are paid a Kings ransom to keep fit, dare show up in that state!
