He has warmed up on at least one other occasion this season despite not making the bench. At Doncaster him and Marcus Olssen did a tough session before the game.

I noticed this at the Burnley game as well. Henley and co were all warning up prior to the game but we're in to 18 man squad.

It's good in a way so that players get a feel of what game day is like and can only help settle the players down.

Any news in Henley's comeback date?

Hamley is being villified by some on here but had we drawn, or even won, no one would be talking about him.

I would ... and I bet his manager would. He's been this incident waiting to happen all season. Amateurish practices need eradicating not ignoring. Aggression is very necessary for a footballer (Tiny Taylor was quite good but nowhere near as good as he could have been) but it needs to be controlled aggression. Whether it's by a bollocking or a sports psychologist he needs to learn how to channel that natural aggression the right way.

That's a dirty word to most as it means they have a problem and the ego can't accept that.

Wouldn't the taboo word be psychiatrist rather than psychologist?

Anyway I'd wager that if they find a blond pretty one with big tits they'd form a queue. :tu:

Rovers defended valiantly yesterday and can be proud of their efforts.

Personally i would have withdrawn rhodes instead of best who would have held the ball better and provided some respite for a tiring midfield. I would have also introduced judge to the game on the hour mark for his energy and ball retention. We simply couldn't keep the ball!

Lastly, the defence retreated far too deeply and goals against were inevitable.

All of my points reflect the tactics deployed rather than the team performance, which was dogged and spirited.

I think we will be there or thereabouts come the end of the season.

We lost the game because of his stupidity so yes it will be talked about

Best got just as much stick last season in a game that was already lost - by the way how did he react to coming off did he sulk?

We don't know if it would have made any odds but I still think not having a cb on the bench was odd and I said so before kick off

Clapped the fans and look like he understood. Was pleased with his response.

Shame about the sending off. If we could've kept the lead and brought Willow on for Best in the second half to make a 5 man midfield, I think we'd been able to dominate.

King was a bit frustrating, always looking for a fancy pass, someone needs to tell him to just run at them.

I was very impressed by Evans and Cairney. Spurr and Killganon look solid too.

Afraid to say it, but we could do with Robbo back in goal.

The one near where Springfield Park used to be, just over the iron canal bridge to the DW. Sure it was the Bricklayers, parked there and had to go in after as mate was meeting a pie eater from work. Talked to a few who seemed ok, if a little deluded over Rhodes. General feeling amongst them was they pinched the game so fair play.

The one over the bridge is brickmakers the bricklayers was the drug den in the TC shut years back

Positives from yesterday for me = Kilgallon looked perfectly comfortable and Williamson was calm, strong and composed when he came on. Lowe worked hard as usual and did his best at centre half but if it ever comes down to a choice between him and Williamson for centre mid then it has to be Williamson, quite simply he's the far better player in that position and that's not a dig at Lowe.

Took the little un to her first ever away game yesterday - fantastic turnout but will echo what others have said about the concourse, really needs a good H&S review! Also, if I want a pint and my daughter wants a bottle of Oasis, why the @#/? do I have to queue up at 2 different food stalls! Oh yeah, and how much damage am I going to do with the lid from said bottle of Oasis, which predictably ended up all over the floor!?

Enough has been said about Hanley's stupidity which has realistically cost us the game, however the refereeing made my blood boil more! Nailed on penalty turned down, Wigan players seemingly exempt from bookings (never mind reds) and to top it all, how dare JR get in the way of a lunge from the wigan lad! Yellow card for his troubles and they score from the resulting free kick!

Think Killgallon & Dann could forge a good partnership whilst Hanley's out, might make him grow up a bt warming the bench for a few weeks.

If there's an ego with it, even bigger problem IMO.

The squad as a whole would benefit much more from such an appointment. If it's down to financial budget, dispense with services of the specialist goalkeeping coach.

You can't honestly believe that. Red cards are always a big talking point, and whether we had drawn or won, his immaturity still put us under added pressure. Not everyone would've turned a blind eye to it.

Most of them have an ego, how much that gets in the way of things who knows. I would agree it would be a good thing but I remain to be convinced they would be taken seriously as there really is a stigma attached to them in football.

The decision to book Rhodes was a particularly unbelievable piece of officiating as you say. Rhodes goes in in quite legitimate fashion, the Wigan player goes in as if he's trying to separate Rhodes' head from his shoulders and JR gets a yellow for his troubles!

Is the Hanley sending off available online anywhere? Still not seen a replay of it.

Not to mention that regardless of the result Hanley now misses three games at a time when we have very little CB cover.

Unfortunately Maj you're right of course, I'm aware of that. Egos can be massaged by the right individual and turned into motivation.

I respect Allardyce because he's different, thinks outside the box and makes the most of what he's got at his disposal. I suspect West Ham will have such an individual at their disposal. I don't wish to open that old debate once again because I detested his style of play but understood the reasons why nonetheless!

It's probably helps develop a 'team-spirit' of sorts, where everyone warms up, everyone is at the game etc.

As a rovers fan living in Wigan with mates who support Wigan this one hurts :(

You cant say for certain, but 1 up against a team with a lot of players missing and who played a game thurs night, this looked a certain 3 points until Hanley had his brain fart.

Not sure what went though his head as it was just an indiotic sending off.

Cant fault the effort once down to 10 men, but I dont think bowyer helped matters. I can see why he initially took off best and left Rhodes on as he was hoping to nab a 2nd, but he has to change it when its not working.

We had no out ball and simply couldnt get out our half. Rhodes couldnt hold it up and didnt have the pace to get in behind, so wigans back 4 pushed up to the half way line knowing he wasnt a threat to get behind them.

For me at that point I'd have put King up top on his own and brough judge, tyalor or marshall on the left. At least then we had the option to knock it long over the top for King to chase. If nothing else it would have pushed wigans back 4 back a bit.

Such a frustrating loss and a real shame as we where on a good run and looked set to continue it

ps I echo everyones thoughts on the ref. Just a real poor performance and referee in general

Sam had one at Bolton and Newcastle (Dr Mark Nesti) but I believe he's now at Chelsea. Allardici??? His ego's so big his teams have to play high N long to get over it!

Nonsense. Evans, Crainey and Spurr were superb yesterday - anything but "mediocre".

I think it was established sometime ago that Sparky doesn't go to games, so his judgement is made up from newspapers and clips on TV.

Is that right Sparky? Or am I wrong?

N'Songo warmed up with the subs today before the match. In all honesty in the only competitive game he has played (Carlisle) he didn't look anywhere near ready. Alex Marrow has played at CB before and I thought GB would have brought him on today after Hanleys indiscretion.

Indiscretion?????..........that's a new and novel way of describing rank effing stupidity.

If I was manager he would be fined a weeks wage for each match he is unavailable for selection, and once that was over and he could play again I'd put him back in the reserves and tell him to prove his worthiness for promotion back to the first team squad all over again.

It's not the lid itself that does the damage, it's the ability to seal the bottle and create a heavy object you can throw. Saying that, it's not beyond the wit of a determined individual to take in a selection of bottle tops - or a cork or other makeshift bung - and reseal it.

More likely they want you to buy more because you can't really save any and make it last.
