Hope you do get him Longers. He's an accident waiting to happen, and a very expensive (wages) one at that. From what I've seen and heard, an intelligent bloke but he has a screw loose. You can be guaranteed opponents will be queuing up to wind him up.

I'm not sure NW - I think much of the stuff around him is old news, think in last few years he's been OK.

That said I guess there's always a risk but one that I think for us would be worth taking - one way or another we need to bring a central midfielder of decent quality - other wise we continue with Arfield in there which weakens us out wide and, whilst he's willing in the middle, I don't think he's near the level we need if we have genuine ambition to make top 6, let alone top 2.

I thought B*****y had a wage structure? Good player though Barton may be, he is almost certain to cause problems in the dressing room. He got away with it to an extent at QPR because they had a lot of players on silly wages. If his reported £70k p.w. is true (or anything like it).

Doesn't seem the kind of thing the B*****y board would normally sanction tbh.

He just makes me laugh, a pound shop Descartes (with the French accent to boot).

Interviews with the Sunday Times magazine etc. just play to his ego even more.

I have met Barton a few times.

A likeable bloke (now) who is a decent footballer and is the sort of player Rovers are desperate for, my goodness Roves are desperate for someone like JB.

Wish you had signed him, I can't stand the bloke, don't want him anywhere near my club.

F me blah blah ... Signed about an hour ago and you can't wait to post on here .. Weirdo

We can't afford players like him, remember. How the tables have turned. :(

... For now

Pretty poor state of affairs when Burnley can outbid Rovers for players wages.

Thanks again Venkys.

They have just come down. The parachutes are big.

I'm not confident for them in their strategy. Total about turn. Why not chuck some money at it when promoted and try for 100 million two years running? Dyche made a good fist if it with little support.

Good signing for them, yes he's a dick but he's amongst his own now ! Football wise just what the likes of us are missing.

Unfortunately for us, I think he may have found his perfect club.

Bring Savage back, Batty, anyone but Jason - we need to fight fire with fire!

Todd for 2 games a season.

To be fair, this would only apply if:

1) We were actually in for him (let's be honest, he'd eat Bowyer alive)

2) We know for certain what wages he's on (Again, let's be honest, the Burnley board aren't known for their lavish spending, and they have a fair wage structure in place don't they?)

Whilst Barton is exactly the kind of player we need (off the field issues aside), there would have been divided opinion on here (and that's being kind) if we had signed him!

Barton is an excellent signing. Excels in our Division.

He splits opinion, as does his personality.

Heard him on 5live a few times, as a studio pundit, and was surprised to find I enjoyed his musings.

He actually speaks very well, with a different kind of honesty.

Having said all this, I hope he has a complete melt down and derails that lot's season.
