Elton John Concert At Ewood

Recommended Posts

WAR will get all misty-eyed looking up to Big Baz in the Directors box when Elton cranks it up to eleven on the ballad-ometer:-
What I got to do to make you love me?
What I got to do to make you care?
What do I do when lightning strikes me?
And I wake to find that you're not there
What I do to make you want me?
What I got to do to be heard?
What do I say when it's all over?
Sorry seems to be the hardest word
It's sad, so sad, why can't we talk it over?

Is this the first time a concert has been held on the Ewood Park pitch?

On the whole I think it is a good thing. He's not my cup of tea but undoubtedly is a big name in the world that will hopefully attract a big crowd to Blackburn and help both the club and local businesses. Concerts and international matches are regularly held at rivals' grounds, it's something that has been neglected in this part of the world over the last few years. These are the sort of things that will get non-Blackburn Rovers supporting people to visit Blackburn, spend their money and use the hotels etc.

Rock FM had some sort of concert back in the early 2000's with loads of different acts on...apart from that I can't really remember anything else.

Don't go breaking my club
I couldn't if I tried
I think it's administration
Baby please don't cry

Don't go breaking my club
We'll sign Wes Brown on a free
When the bailliffs knock on the door
I'll have to give them the key

Nobody knows it
When were down
Venky's were clowns
Nobody knows it
Jerome Anderson
Kean was his chum
Reamed us up the bum

So don't go breaking my club
I won't go breaking your club
Don't go breaking my club

And nobody told us
`Cause nobody showed us
And up to our necks in debt, babe
There's no way we can make it

So don't misunderstand me
You put us bang up the creek
When Ewood's gone up in flames
Will we be rid of you creeps?

If we interrupt an Elton John concert do you think it would go down well with the general public?

A good way to lose any sympathy we ever had in my opinion. The media would just show us up to be a bunch of disruptive thugs. Think about it.

Depends whether it is a humorous interruption.

To be fair Elton John is a football guy and a past owner. Could he be persuaded to don a sparkly venkys out tshirt at some stage?

At least a good crowd to chant Venky's Out.

Being serious, I cannot see the Raos resisting the wish to be there rubbing shoulders with Elton John.

There will be loads of dark-windowed limos drawing up so the crowd will conclude the Raos are in town even if they are not.

Now that would be brilliant and the publicity would be good in that case.

You can well imagine Barry Rao turning up for it.

Exactly - nobody mentioned about interrupting it - more about using it to our advantage

Would it still go ahead though if we went into administration?

Knowing the Rao's they put us in to administration just after the concert. With a knackered pitch for spite.
